You know, it happens when you get inspired by something so chic, but sometimes you stumble, firstly because of your drawing skill, and secondly, I donโt know if this is a common phenomenon, but I have low self-esteem as an artist and I understand that the idea is bad or I donโt have the strength to just continue. But in the end, at least the sketch remained of this comic
Ahem, sorry for the long digression. In general, the idea was very simple, what do we associate with aristocracy? Social receptions, right. But, I would like to depict who and how they feel at them. Let's say, Vernal would be uncomfortable in a crowd, as would Pip, who is a mercenary and does not care about it. And Seras? I suppose she would often stick close to Alucard and repeat after him that she is an aristocrat from birth. The same with Integra, but she does not like all this, at least because she will have to change her suit for a dress and smoke less. And Walter, like an impenetrable rock, stands and smiles slyly, probably internally tired of preparing for the reception and also watching over the order and the servants.
The situation is standard and banal, and in anime there is less everyday life, but I often find it interesting to think about who would have reacted or done something in this situation ๐ค

Alucard softening up whenever he sees he upset Seras by being too harsh is my shit
You never see this compromising and empathetic side of him unless it's towards Seras or Integra, and more often than not Seras since she's very open with her feelings and the least cynical out of everyone in the cast
Bc everyone around him is openly fucked up/insane he doesn't ever talk to anyone who takes his words as harsh and hurtful- like suddenly he needs to check his mouth? damn he feels bad??? he can still feel guilty for hurting people's feelings????
He's harsh with her bc she isn't acting like a "proper" vampire to him, but not in the totally disgusted and dismissive way he sees in the artificial vampires he fights
He knows she's truly just struggling with herself in her new form, and imo, is interested in the independent path she's taking that isn't his bc he knows he doesn't want to see her truly end up the way he has, but his way is all he knows
All he can do is offer her advice and knowledge, observe what she is comfortable with, and what motivates her- he is confused but also astonished by the fact that she doesn't want to be "powerful and singular" like him, or any other vampire, bc why wouldn't you take advantage of all of these new abilities for yourself?
But she wants to depend on him, wants that connection to him, and isn't interested in gaining strength for herself in her new form- it baffles him bc his motivation for becoming a vampire came from a place of total hatred, bitterness, and vengence
He thinks of their bond as sire and fledging as a chain around her neck she should want to break free from (at first), while she sees their bond as her finally having a hand to hold onto which she doesn't want to let go of
idk I think it's endearing how he doesn't really know how to handle her type of personality in the beginning
Her personality and his responsibility over her kind of forces him to bring out his humanity which he thought of as long gone by now- and we know this to be true bc he succeeds in becoming the teacher she needed to reach her full potential, which would not have been possible if he didn't show her this sincerity
The head pat was a moment of character growth for the both of them- Alucard who is usually cold or smirking from bloodlust unabashedly showing his fondness and pure affection for Seras and Seras' achievement of fully accepting her vampiric side on her own terms
Alucard the big bad sadistic horrifying war mongering vampire smiling through rivers of blood, only to turn around and see sunshine adopted daughter fumbling and tripping through the battlefield as he walks back, sighs, and picks her up
whoever said that they only watched hellsing for the plot knows damn well they're LYING โผ๏ธ

when i tell y'all my heart always shatters hearing alu's broken sobs during this scene . . . crispin freeman, you did my baby justice. give this man an oscar.
and the way everyone who is witness to his tears looks on in sadness and disbelief, because tears are the very last thing you would expect from him, especially in the moment of an enemy's defeat. not only does alucard mourn anderson because he always held a significant amount of respect, but anderson's choice of turning his back upon humanity + his death was also a symbol of alucard's dream coming to an end. to be defeated by a human hand. he no longer desired to live an eternal regret, and he saw anderson as one of the main gateways for his curse to finally be put to rest.
alucard versus anderson will always be one of the greatest and most complex rivalries in anime history for me, and this clip alone explains why.

because seras imitating alucard was one of the best things in the show + pissy integra is always a treat LMAO
there is also another where integra and alucard were on the phone. this scene is much more vivid in the japanese dub, but basically here, alu was being a little teasing shit and asking if integra became horny from declaring war, hence his "did you feel your blood rush?" and her instantly blushing, turning tsundere and throwing the phone back on the hook. his laugh afterwards is what makes it one of my favorite scenes lmao
the rest of my favorites pretty much mostly consist of jan. dude carried the show on his back for only one episode but at least he went out with the last laugh ๐ฉ

all hellsing vampires have the ability to purr whenever they are elated or relaxed and it's canon idc. they have no control over when it occurs either. they can be in the middle of talking and it will start to rumble in their chest.

Alucard
โข i like to think that the more relaxed alucard is, the more prominent the vibration and volume from his purr becomes. imagine walking inside the basement to see him napping within his throne and all you hear are the echos of his loud ass purr throughout the empty space. that's probably what luke heard 0.3 seconds before rudely smashing his door in ova 2.
โข alu also purrs in enjoyment of when blood, killing or a worthy opponent is involved, of course. one is probably unable to hear it over the sounds of bullets being fired, people screaming, chaos ensuing, but the second all of that dies down, his purr is all that's left to hear lmao. i love to think that this exact scenario happened during and after all of his kills at the hotel in ova 3. all of the horrific and twisted up corpses everywhere, but then there's just . . cute kitten noises in the corner. definitely brightens the mood LMAO.

โข this girl is most likely always purring. she is so bubbly.
โข whenever she receives praise from either alucard, integra, or walter, there she is, purring. she becomes overly joyful. pats on the head will without a doubt intensify the volume of it.

โข luke is able to purr, but these are on rare occasions, since jan is aggravating the shit out of him 24/7.

โข jan's purrs are absolutely obnoxiously loud, as loud as his foul mouth, but he can't help it. he's most likely always content because he refuses to give a fuck about anything that goes wrong in his undead life. ( hc created with @namelesscoward1 just yesterday PFF )
โข luke has thrown a book at his head for purring so loudly. he missed, but he still got his point across. "would you keep it down?! i can't hear myself think with all of your racket!"
โข sex? definitely gets him purring. the sight of big titties or a nice ass? definitely gets him purring.
โข jan becomes ridiculously excited at the mere thought of death and guns. during previous millennium missions with his brother, his purr was noisy enough to completely give away their hideout position.

โข like seras, she has childlike characteristics. because she's so cheerful, i imagine her always being unable to silence her purrs as well.
โข though, if you want to silence them, simply mention alucard's name. that will get her quiet real quick.

i have two of physical copies out of all of these! i have the 7th one and the one infamously known cover, 12, where alucard is groping integra's breast, which is also my absolute favorite and is also my wallpaper on my desktop lmao.
it's upsetting how rare they are to come across these days. i was lucky enough to find a couple at a local comic shop that was having a closing sale a few years ago! sometimes they show up on japan auctions or on ebay, so if you're quick enough to snag one, congratulations! ๐ฅณ
