You know what a potentially hilarious story idea would be?
I saw this post a while ago and have no hope of finding the original again, but I remember something about the world finding out that Bruce Wayne funds the Justice League, and there was an uproar. Why does one man, no matter how beloved by his home, get to have any say in with the JL does with the money he gives them? B then has to outsource so much money through off-shores and charity just to keep the JL at the same level of funds because property damage and equipment is expensive.
That post, as my memory distracts me from my current task, inspired this.
Everyone knows that Batman is strict about identities, more so than literally everyone else. Because of that, he refuses to give up anything other than being born and raised in Gotham. That's fine because none of the others really jump at the chance to tell each other their real names until the Watchtower goes up, anyway.
None of the heroes know that he funds everything the JL does/is/has. But, what if he planned ahead? He knew that people were gonna eventually find out that Bruce Wayne basically owns the Justice League (he also owns the trademark), so he had a plan in place. It was just a matter of waiting to enact it, maybe see if any more players would need to be added.
Before the Justice League is announced by the public, Bruce Wayne funds them through Batman. When the group expands and the Hall of Justice is built, Bruce Wayne approaches Oliver Queen and Arthur Curry. He explains the public outcry of a single person privately funding the World's Heroes and asks if they'll split the bill with him three ways.
Naturally, he knows Oliver is Green Arrow and Arthur is Aquaman.
They're reluctant to agree, though Bruce knows they will in the end. They ask why he's so invested, why he'd come to them. After all, Bruce Wayne's a bimbo on his beast days, a whore on his worst days; Oliver's still relearning to navigate the world after being missing for five years; and Arthur's a lighthouse keeper in Maine. Not really the best choices to fund heroes, let alone make any financial decisions.
Bruce, because he's a dramatic bitch, drops into his Batman Persona - sans the entire costume - and says, "Because you're Green Arrow, you're Aquaman," his voice also drops to his Batman voice here, "and I'm Batman."
Me: Did you know that most people regard Frollo as the best Disney villain?
Dad: Why?
Me: Because he's evil just to be evil
Dad: No he's not; he's evil because of his lust and jealousy
Me: No, most Disney villains are evil because of jealousy, but I can't really think of one that's evil because of lust. Frollo is evil just to be evil. Ursula, Scar, Evil Queen, etc. They're all evil because of jealousy for someone/thing. Mother Gothal wouldn't have even been a villain if the queen and king hadn't taken the flower! I had a point to this...
Controversial Take, maybe
I don't like romance-heavy plots. In fact, I do my best to avoid them. However, I do engage in romance media sometimes (though, not if it's romance centered)
You wanna know the trope I hate the most? Forced Proximity.
I hate most romance tropes, actually, and Idek if this is considered Forced Proximity, but let me explain:
Character A doesn't like Character B as anything more than a friend/best friend. But, everyone else thinks that Characters A and B would just be so cute together, so they basically force them into a romantic relationship.
If written correctly, it's a really good slow burn. Usually, though, I hate it.
Why does everyone else get to decide the kind of relationship these two characters get to have? Why does Character A have to fall in love with Character B just because everyone else thinks they're cute together?
Maybe Character B likes Character A romantically, but do they really have the right to push it when Character A has set that boundary? Do any of the other characters have the right to push them past that boundary?
Yes, I realize this is mostly just fandom shipping culture and stuff, but I hate it and I actively avoid it when I can.
Yes, I know I'm not of the most popular opinion on this. It's why it's a controversial take; a soap box.
Yes, I know I'm gonna get a lot of disagreement as on this, but this is my space to say my opinions
I should probably get off my ass and do something, huh?
Today's..... today's been a day. I think it's burn-out from working the same show Tuesday to Sunday with double shifts on the weekend.
Yeah, that's probably it (and another few reasons I won't bore ya with)
I've got until Friday before I leave for the week. The plan is to be gone from Saturday to Thursday, so I'll be offline that entire time. However, extenuating circumstances may cut the trip short.
That's not important. What is important is that I am going to do my best, during this week, to get caught up on my stories. I know I've made this same announcement several times, but I think I can do it. If not all of them, then at least one.
Ideally, I'll actually finish writing one (or more), but that's to be seen.
I'll say this again either Friday or Saturday, but I'll probably schedule things to post so that y'all don't miss me too much. But, I won't be able to link anything or read comments until I get back.
Unless there's a way to schedule a post on Ao3 that I haven't been told about, then I'll try to post Monday's chapter of Enough Caffeine on Friday, as well as today's chapter.
I think that's all I have to say right now? If I think of something, y'all'll be the second to know
