Cobra Snake Necktie

Cobra Snake Necktie

“Are you an angel?”

He says it all woozy and completely deadpan, totally at ease - a natural flirt - like waking up in a hospital with a neck brace on and your motorcycle presumably totaled in some back alley was just another thing on a Tuesday’s schedule to tick off.

Who knows; maybe it was for this guy.

pairing: biker bucky x nurse!reader

summary: bucky barnes is a magnet for danger, bad karma, and pretty woman - not necessarily in that order. a motorcycle crash lands him in reader’s ER, and it looks like he might have just found himself a new game of high-stakes chase.

synopsis: part one of - hopefully - a new series, content warnings for minor medical procedures, i.e., injections and such. biker bucky is always a classic, and i wanted to write it, so i did.

Pairings: Past!Steve x Reader, Bucky x  Reader

Summary:  Struggling with the death of your husband, you find comfort in someone unexpected.

Series warnings: CHARACTER DEATH. Grief. Overall sadness. Depression. It’s pretty angsty if I’m being honest. Things mellow out as the series goes on. TW: Military/Spouse death

A/N:  It’s a military AU with the loss of a spouse. This was the only WIP of mine I was really upset to discontinue. Which is why it’s the only one I left up. After some love from my @moonbeambucky, I’m posting the first chapter and we will see how it goes. No, I do not have a posting schedule nor do I know when the next part will be up. No Bucky yet but the next chapter is nothing but Bucky.  It’s still very heavy in the angst but hang tight. It gets better once Bucky comes home. If you like it write a book report, sing me a song or come scream at me.

***My fics are not to be saved or posted on any other sites without my written permission. Reblogs are my jam, though! Thanks!****

“Sweetheart,” Steve’s breath warmed your skin, making you shiver. “It’s time to wake up, my sweetheart.”

You pulled the cover over your head, hiding the grin on your face and blocking out the sun along with your husband. Steve’s chuckle made your smile widen enough to make your cheeks hurt. There was a gentle tug to the blanket, and you knew Steve was attempting to tenderly coax you out of bed. You slowly lowered the quilt down to your nose, only letting your eyes peek out, and you find your husband’s gorgeous smile beaming down at you, making your heart flutters from the sight.

“It’s Saturday, Steven.”

“Steven?” Steve chuckled and tried to pull the covers off your face yet again. “I’m in that much trouble?”

You narrowed your eyes and tightened your grip on your blanket.

Just to further clarify, "THE" menorah (7) was in the Holy Temple. The chanukiya (9), also know slang-ly as a menorah later became a symbol of the Chanukah holiday and miracle.

k so can i just clear something up real quick?

so this is a menorah

K So Can I Just Clear Something Up Real Quick?

it has seven candles all of equal levels

it is a symbol of jewish faith

it has NOTHING TO DO WITH CHANUKAH

and this is a HANUKIAH — that’s hah-noo-kee-ya

it has 9 candles with one that’s taller than the others (it’s...

Chanukah and Christmas have nothing to do with each other besides a coincidence of calendar.

The summation of most Jewish holidays is: they tried to kill us, we won, let's eat. In this case the Greeks attached were occupying Israel and forcing the Jews to convert. Some did for the culture, some did out of fear and there were a small group who would not bend.

This group, led by Judah the Maccabee, battled the Greeks and won forcing the Greeks out of Israel. The message and miracle of Chanukah is the the few won over the many, the weak over the strong, those who had faith in one G-d won over those who believed in many gods.

The second miracle of Chanukah came when the Macabees in resanctifying and rededicating the Holy Temple realized there was but one vessel of pure olive oil. The process to make more would take 8 days. The miracle was that the oil lasted for 8 days which we memorialize by lighting our own individual menorah and eating fried foods like suganiyot (donuts) and lakes (potato pancakes).

Jewish holidays fall into two catagories. Major and minor which is differentiated more by whether we follow the laws of the Shabbos (no work, no electronics...) or not ("regular" days where we do everthing).

One annoyance of being Jewish this time of year: Many Christians and secular people in English-speaking cultures treat Hanukkah as the Jewish way of celebrating Christmas. It’s not. They’re completely different holidays. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus. That is not something Jews...
