I absolutely love doing in-depth discussions and reading metas tbh!!!

I'm just always too intimidated to write my own, partly because I've always only experienced being a small account and thus always kept my own meta discussions in chatrooms, places like discord or comment sections, but also partly because I'm often really bad with words. And add to that me being an anxious mess who feels like in the YOI fandom in particular everything that I could've said, had already been by someone else at some point 😅

That being said; I'd absolutely love to "leech off" your meta posts in future and add my 2 cents to them if it's okay with you~

the meta posts & discussions in the YOI fandom were one of the best parts and aspects of it and I'd really love to re-live them again!!

In the one week that has passed since I've semi-returned from my social media hiatus here and on the extinct-bird-site, I've realised that I've been much better during the time that I was away.

I didn't miss the bad takes, I didn't miss the shit posts, I didn't miss the bashing of animation studios, and I've certainly didn't miss the daily toxicity of fandom spaces. And while they seem part of the internet experience, I guess that's the reason I couldn't really enjoy being here in the first place. It's not me, it just stresses me out.

My immediate instinct was to return to my seclusion and only come here when I have to something to post or to chat without looking left and right. But that's not what I came here for in the first place.

What I'm looking for, what a part of me still wishes to find since I've first had the desire meet other are YOI fans, are people who are interested in academic discussions of canon. Fans who don't argue based on projection alone and who don't just claim that something is canon because they want it to be canon. Fans who enjoy analysing canon and getting to the bottom of things as much as I do.

Seeing how poorly my meta analysis do compared to all kinds of other posts, I really wonder where those people are. Or if they exist at all.

I would really like to see more of that. To have more in-depth discussions about YOI. To meet people who genuinely share this interest.

the victor BJD lol the clothes he's wearing here is a genuine barbie figure skating outfit/costume (from the kelly dolls tho) that i put on him bc at the time i DIY-ed this victor bjd i couldn't find any other figure skating outfit his size. He did have skates too but i lost those and never put them on anyways bc he couldn't stand with them on and it looks nicer imho if he stands on his own VS using a stand lol

If you don't know the context, I made this illustration taking in consideration what how he might look now in the present time (2024-2025) for my fic on the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. So this is adult Yurio❤️‍🔥 - and yes, he is ANGRY. I'm almost done with the whole piece, I'm learning rendering so that's the next part that I'll try.

the writers confirmed that it was indeed a kiss but they were forced to censor it because the TV channel broadcasting it refused to broadcast this episode due to the kiss which almost got the anime cancelled

honestly i feel the same!! back when i was convinced we'd get the movie i just waited patiently bc i thought that YOI is so perfect i could never do it justice, but that it's cancelled i just want YOI to stay alive and i want to do my part too and draw content of them and tell my own yuri on ice stories... I love this anime and it's characters so SO much, i just can't without them in my life, and if MAPPA won't give me more YOI, then we as the fandom will have to take matters into our own hands let's all work together to keep YOI alive and remembered for all eternity

If anything, I feel the urge to write more Yuri On Ice fanfiction. To keep reading amazing Yuri on Ice fanfiction. To draw more Yuri on Ice art. To purchase more doujin and support work of talented people who still create Yuri on Ice content/stories.

i mean, i now that since i see new fanart being made in the discord server, it's just 98% of the fanart shown on my TL being from 2017 and i simply just find that depressing and wish more of the new stuff would be on the TL instead because this makes the fandom feel more dead than it really is

Next season, Yuri will probably feel the pressure of being chased, that only a champion feels. Right now, he has only two quads, so he definitely has to increase this number. But even three quads is something that only a figure skating genius can achieve. This barrier is one that is impossible to break through using only hard work. It seems, however, that all of them don't really feel that quads are their weak spot, so I predict that Yuri won't have any problem with acquiring one more quad.

And Victor, who is going back to competitive skating - how much can he polish up his programs? I'm curious to see, how that one year of being a coach will influence his skating. If he adds a quad loop to his program, he will have 5 quads, and just his technical element score can be even higher than 130 points. But coaching somebody at the same time... To be honest, I don't think that is possible. I think that in reality, Yuuri will become his practice partner. It would be perhaps better, if he could use Hasetsu Ice Castle as his home rink, and not a rink in St. Petersburg.
