I wasn’t sure about posting this, but I think painting is sometimes the only way I know how to open up and share my feelings with other people.

So, thank you to you guys for listening. I should have more regular posts soon, and the giveaway pictures, as things settle better in my life.

Headshot Paintings Vary A Lot - Last Night's Was Only A Couple Hours, But This One's Closer To Ten. Most

headshot paintings vary a lot - last night's was only a couple hours, but this one's closer to ten. Most of my paintings are between eight to forty hours, especially if there's shit like perspective because I, uh, still haven't mostly learned that one myself (and it's kind of more important than painting haha) but rendering is just meditative so time flies.

Stuff like this where it's just a simple face, it's easier for me to see all the tiny errors I didn't notice in the sketch. Too often with stuff like this or with perspective I make a giant mess when laying down the sketch that I think I can just fix with rendering and end up having to redo half of it from scratch.

I've got complicated feelings about painting as a discipline. I feel like I lucked out that it's so highly regarded in certain circles because it's just where my interests and skills always were. But a lot of people mistake rendering for painting, and a lot of online advice and videos are geared towards this. (And just personally since that’s the part I was good at to start with it made it harder for me to figure out how much stuff there was that I didn’t know) If I didn’t just enjoy the pure motions involved with it, I don’t think I would have found it easy to learn.
