Ughh, I hate thinking about this possibility, but I know it's almost impossible because:

1. They said explicitly that Will will have a happy ending

2. It just doesn't make sense. I mean, his whole life was about suffering and almost dying, and people thinking he won't be able to make it up, like, come on, all of this will be for nothing? He was bullied, kidnapped, possessed, ignored by all of his friends (and his crush), traumatized constantly, in love with his "straight" best friend, and also he grew up in a poor, abusive home. And all of this suffering for what? For dying just like everyone expects him to do? For sacrificing himself like he thinks he deserves just for being Will Byers? For give us the message that gay love it's not required almost never, and it's normal letting minories die?! No fucking way, he's gonna make it.
