but the last thing he expects to see is softness in your eyes when you gaze at him. 

“do you love me?” you whisper as he kneels beside you, brushing the hair out of your face. you don’t even flinch, your wide eyes still gazing at him. 

“yes.” yaku replies, brushing his knuckles along your face gently. “I love you so much, that's why I brought you here, so we could be together-” he doesn't even need to justify himself when you lean your head on his chest and he’s stunned to feel his shirt growing damp with your tears as your bound hands cling to him. 

“i didn't think anybody cared about me,” you sniffle. “i didn't think anyone loved me- i'm so alone. if you hadn't taken me, i-i don’t know if i would’ve survived.” the very thought makes yaku’s eyes sting as he holds you close, peppering your face in kisses and already reaching to untie the ropes around your wrists. 

“i love you.” he says. “i love you so much, and i'll take care of you here. i’ll make you happy.” he promises, rocking you gently as you sob. “i love you.”
