ENCANTO SPOILERS/SEMI SPOILERS
Mk so honestly I love the movie like almost everybody else and they mama I SWEAR I DO but like --
Maybe it’s just me but why do I feel like Bruno (and his relationship to Mirabel) was kind of sort of made to seem REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT and yet... kind of wasn’t? I mean it WAS but like... not AS IMPORTANT as I thought it was to be?
Like, Bruno doesn’t appear until like halfway through the movie, and then, his scenes with Mirabel are almost all pretty curt --somewhat significant I suppose, but still pretty brief. Like they literally ONLY interact for Mirabel to receive her prophecy.
I guess it kind of bothers me because like... IDK, if Mirabel’s fate regarding the existence of magic in the household/preservation of the Casita was all dependent on whether or not she could make up with her sister, Isabella, then like... well, obviously, Bruno wasn’t necessarily as important as we all thought, huh?
I guess my thing is this -- the fate of Mirabel and the Casita could’ve been more like (IMO):
A) Mirabel’s prophecy was hers alone --she doesn’t need to hug Isabella (of all people) or anything like that; literally it could’ve been as simple as the magic exists in the household because of everyone’s bond with each other, and so the more the family (lowkey) bullies Mirabel, the more she falls into a depressive state and begins to distance herself from the family. Perhaps her choosing to leave or stay is what is making the magic waver.
B) Essentially plot A but Bruno is actually important; since he was teased sooo much and even has a whole song dedicated to his foreseeing abilities in the movies, let’s make his relationship to Mirabel so much more personal and emotional! Like, maybe he is absolutely TERRIFIED (as he was canonically!) to have SUDDENLY met her; but as he warms up to his niece, he begins to grow attached to her. After all, he loves his family despite them shunning him, and with Mirabel being the only one so open to seeking him and his knowledge out, he can’t help but want to be there for her. The easiest way he thinks to do so is by helping her through her prophecy and being her guide. Maybe it’s the relationship that Mirabel forms with Bruno that ultimately leads her into either saving the magic or not.
Perhaps Bruno is kinda forced to hang around in the open again in order to be beside Mirabel, and the parallels between him and his niece become even more obvious as Bruno gets ‘bullied’ (if you will) by everyone else (in other words, he won’t get an immediate warm welcome the way he did in the movie) --despite the bullying, Bruno takes it to the chin and wants to show people that they’re wrong about him, believing that if he can become the best Bruno he can be for his niece, then surely he can do the same for everyone else. Yet, Mirabel wants to shut herself away from her family --it would be as if she and Bruno were switching places. But ultimately, the Casita needs everyone to reconcile and come together in order to restore the magic.
C) If Isabella is gonna be even remotely important, I think I’d like her involvement to be bigger than just the dinner leading up to her proposal and then a little song about her powers... IDK prolly just me, but the whole “hugging Isabella to fix the magic and fulfill the prophecy” thing just kinda made me... I don’t even know how to explain it, it just didn’t scratch that itch for me!! So I honestly feel like it could’ve been done better!!
Anyway, I’m leaving this here cuz this post is getting soooo long
Reblog to spread the word, this needs to happen
Coming in hot with new ideas for Disney:

If this goes ANYWHERE remember me, friends....
Because I think it's already starting
👁👄👁:

I am amused by the various headcanons associated with Bruno. Ranging from "an arrogant Michelin-starred chef" to "the real identity of Fake Peppino."
But most of all, I like the option "Bruno and Fakey are a two-on-one boss fight, where the first is the lead and the second is the support."

Somehow it also happened that while one picture was being drawn, another one had already appeared in my head. Because of the song I mentioned earlier.

A selection of Pizza Tower art
Bruno wasn't really dying. He moved out of the tower when he became more successful, but no one demolished the old building, and it remained untouched. PizzaBrow works at his restaurant, and is responsible for bills and other figures. And Bruno for the staff, the cooking, and the image of the place.
A sudden thought at one o'clock in the morning: Pizzabrow x Bruno (not Fake Peppino!)
_______
PB: My brother is acting like a clown.
B: A monster that looks like a human got into my pizzeria.
Then they look at each other and kiss passionately.
Pizza tower but it's a fighting game (Fighting Tower? Fight Pizza Tower?! IDK) 👊💥
(many thanks to @polinakotlikesthev for translating the text, bc I couldn't)
This cannot be considered AU, these are ordinary thoughts. Sometimes I like to imagine something like that when I'm in a fandom.
I'm not going to tag all the characters here, it's going to be stressful. Anyway, have fun reading.
Character select
Peppino: Uses movements from his main moveset (in the game). Melee.
Noise: The same as Peppino + some stuff from his boss version (casting Noisy and other cheating techniques). Unlike Peppino does ranged combat but can also do melee as well.
Gustavo (+Brick): Usually is a melee fighter, due to his small height it's hard to hit him. Can sometimes throw brick into the opponent (Brick sits on the arena with a newspaper)
Pepperman: Melee fighter, does great damage but he's easy to hit due to his size (while he has enough health like in the original game). A literal tank.
Vigilante: Just like Gustavo he's hard to hit, but unlike him, Vigi does ranged combat throwing everything at you.
Fake Peppino: Usually mimics Peppino's movement in his own manner. Can repeat opponent's moves.
Pizzahead: Doesn't take fighting seriously at the start/does it in a cartoony way (2nd fase + end of a 3rd phase, like Peacock from Skullgirls). On the second round he fights more aggressively and quickly (like in scrapped 3rd phase). Melee/ranged combat.

DLC character (Season 1 Pass)
Pizzaface: Melee fighter, can cast other creatures. Does great damage, punishes you for hits even harder. Uses different robot-thingies (like Big Band from Skullgirls).
Bruno: His style is like an ✨ elegant show-off✨. Uses improvised means (rolling-pins, knifes). Main weapon - wooden baking tray for pizza.
Pizzabrow: His style is closer to Pizzaface but he's weaker and rougher. Would use Tommy gun (while smoking a cigar) during a fight and brass knuckles.
Dougie Jones: Uses magic, often uses teleportation. Isn't very good at melee.
I was amused by your comics with Bruno and Fake Peppino. Could Bruno make fun of Fakey because of some things too? Or is he too arrogant for that?

This was actually the case for a while! The difference between them is Bruno outright knew that he was a creation, and a much more stable one at that. At the time Feppy never exactly knew the reason this random guy would show up, slink around, and berate him for his appearance and froggy mannerisms, since he still genuinely thought he was actually Peppino himself. He would always be the better one, the most human and flawless of the two.

....Though this would not be the case for long!

The Witch and his friends on the way to Walpurgisnacht!
This is the October image that was voted for by my patrons/kofi supporters! Thank you so much again and sorry for being so slow!

Only one of them is widely feared for being a monstrous, horrifying harbinger of doom. Loving which one it is.
