I think the problem is nobody takes accountability. Specifically Viserys and that's why he's a shitty person.

why are people so obsessed with comparing alicent motherhood to rhaenyra's?

their situations are so different. alicent had no support system, the only parental role model she had was otto. she was maritally raped and forced to have children at 15 with an abusive neglectful partner and no support system to help and guide her. (because yes, a 15yo teenager is still a child and needs help and guidance to deal with a baby)

while rhaenyra's mother also died, and viserys is also a shit role model, rhaenyra had children when she was older with a man she loved \ cared about. she chose to have kids with harwin. also, laenor was also a kind man and seemed to support her and the children.

alicent and rhaenyra both loved their kids and did the best they could. alicent is def struggling with her motherhood, but the way this fandom shows her no compassion and labels her as a "bad mom" while forgiving viserys's horrible treatment of his children is so disappointing to see.

people don't realize that "you're not as good of as mother as this other woman" is constantly weaponized and used to oppress women. and it's never "you're not as good of a dad as this other man". never.

Awww , Thanks. TB stans need to get a grip on which is which. It annoys me how much like they like to bash Aemond because , he apparently "hated" Lucerys for being bastard. It's like if that's the case why'd he get with Alys and why did he have a bastard of his own? I just wish they'd make sense of things sometimes. 😒

This post just randomly popped up I didn't even go in the tags.

I detest how romanticized some Hotd Reddit users make it seem. I can't even begin to comprehend how they may be in real life—that stuff scares me.

On certain days, I browse Reddit and come across some unsettling content, at which point I immediately think:

Daemon: hits on underage niece while married, ignores his wife, kills his wife, hits on his niece at her wedding, seems to care about Laena, should go through some modicum of character development since Laena's death but doesn't, forgets about Rhaena and Baela, pretends to murder Laenor, marries his niece he's been grooming since she was a kid, murders Vaemond Velaryon just for Rhaenyra, is plotting (colluding with) Rhaenyra to slaughter the Queen's children, has done so many evil deeds--

BUT

The Haters: We want Aemond's descent into his dark arc to mean he becomes a rapist, and takes Alys as a war prize so he can force her to be his fuckdoll.

What is wrong with people? So when you hear a character arc is turning less innocent your automatic assumption is to think "he's going to become a rapist". Maybe evaluate why your brain races immediately to rape. There are many characters who went from protagonist to evil baddie AND THERE WAS NO RAPE/SEXUAL VIOLENCE INVOLVED. Did Anakin need to RAPE anyone to turn Vader? Did Loki? DID THE JOKER? Sauron? Yes, there have been characters in the GOT metaverse who utilized rape for their own devices. Ramsay, for one.

But AEMOND? Where does your brain go that you want Aemond to rape Alys? Do you realize that makes you a rape apologist, even supporting female violence?

Aemond does kill a lot. But the lot of you cheering for rape is just. Idk what to say fam. There are some threads on reddit that are very concerning. Esp some of you who think Daemon is a better candidate for a good guy. Daemon is about to do some very fucked up shit come S2 EP1. What's more disturbing is if S2 goes ahead with the rumors out there, the same lot of you will cheer for babies being tortured and slaughtered. YIKES.

Aegon is growing his hair out in S2 which just confirms my theory that he cut his hair short to distance himself from his Targaryen heritage and the duty contained therein but now that his family is at war and his children have been targeted he's finally facing it and accepting that he is the leader they have even if he doesn't want to be
