you can make prayer cards for your own patron saints with just a little bit of blackout poetry, an old-timey cowboy portrait, and a few old issues of National Geographic (before they switched to that glossy late '80s/'90s paper)
bonus points if you have access to an old-school laminator
Please pray for me. I am in a very dark place right now.
before I fall asleep; happy feast day for St. Francis of Assisi!
I didn't have time to sit down at my altar and pray to him, but I did try to honor him tonight with a modest pasta dish, Sicilian lemonade, and raspberry cuccidati, before assembling a small feast that I sent outside into the grass for my local bird population. I included my cat in the festivities with her favorite treats as well, of course.
tomorrow my wife is taking me out to a Catholic gift shop that I discovered recently, and I am very excited... ✧

there's just something about john vs judas. the beloved vs the betrayer. the witness vs the instigator. the insider vs the outsider. the hug vs the kiss. being the last to die vs the first. graced by god vs praised be god.

* I was raised Catholic with very little structure or consistency, and I have lived most of my life as agnostic and scientifically-minded. I come from a background of not viewing God in the same ways that many do, or is depicted in the Bible, and I can't say that my views have changed much. I am embarking on a new journey to chase a calling I keep feeling by educating myself, and exploring my instincts and inspirations. St. Joan d'Arc is the one that called me into this direction.
I practice intercession of the saints and angels.
I perform tarot readings, prayer, devotions and offerings, and have done minor spellwork using flora, minerals, and herbs. I especially enjoy astrology and natal chart tracking.
More info about my beliefs can be found here. I will update and change my ideology and catalogue my beliefs there over time.
I love dark and horror content, please be advised! I may reblog such things especially including media as Midnight Mass (Netflix), FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, Ghost (band), and more. I love the genre especially when combined with existentialism, and I find a lot of meaning and inspiration in some of this content. I will tag these with Temple:Darkmode for you to mute if you do not like to see this kind of stuff!
I welcome Christo-pagans, Christians, Orthodox, Pagans, Heathens, Luciferians, and more as long as we agree on mutual respect, progressive values, protecting trans lives, supporting Palestine, etc.!
I am ESPECIALLY looking for mutuals that practice as Christian-adjacent that are interested in knowing someone that may see things differently.
Please engage/follow me if you vibe with anything above (and would care to see my content and what I share, of course)!

A Prayer to Joan of Arc🗡🖤

Feel free to use this in your practice and to connect with Joan of Arc! She’s a wonderful saint, I love Joan a lot and hope that others may find this prayer helpful too. They’re a great spirit to go to when first starting to work with saints, as she can help with so many things. Joan is someone I regularly go to for protecting myself and others, they have such a powerful presence.
Blessed Joan of Arc
Filled with love and understanding for those who call on you,
you have compassion for those suffering through grief and desolation.
Dear brave and holy leader, help me to carry the weight of my battles,
I pray to you and ask you to keep me under your fierce protection, take my hand and guide me
Fearless Joan of Arc, ride alongside and fight with me
amen
I'm really hoping I can find something like this nearer to me... The closest LGBTQ+ progressive Catholic churches appear to be in the capital city of where I live which not only is quite the drive, but parking is notoriously difficult in that area. Once you're out of the city, finding resources for this sort of thing is almost non-existent. But I am looking. 🥺🙏🏻
If you're a person who wants to go to church but is nervous about what it will be like, give your church a chance to surprise you. I typically attend a fairly modern service but decided to return to the traditional sanctuary today. We have a female pastor, a greeting card that asks your pronouns, a liturgy that explicitly welcomes all backgrounds and identities. The sermon spoke about Acts 12 where Peter is freed from prison, but spoke more about the woman who answered the door and how nobody believed her when she said Peter was there. The pastor said that we must learn to listen to voices typically dismissed. We ended with the choir singing Psalm 23 "The Lord Is My Shepherd" with entirely she/her pronouns, including saying "The Mother and the Daughter."
This was not a hippie modern service. This was a completely traditional sanctuary service with a doxology and songs from the hymnal. Most people in the congregation were over 60. Give your local church a chance to surprise you.
