Queer Christian - Tumblr Posts
✧ Introduction ˖⁺ ‧₊˚ .

✦ You can call me Temple !
✦ 30+, genderfluid (she/her/he/him), queer, married
✦ Progressive, non-trad Roman Catholic* witch
✦ Aquarius sun, Pisces rising, Capricorn moon

* I was raised Catholic with very little structure or consistency, and I have lived most of my life as agnostic and scientifically-minded. I come from a background of not viewing God in the same ways that many do, or is depicted in the Bible, and I can't say that my views have changed much. I am embarking on a new journey to chase a calling I keep feeling by educating myself, and exploring my instincts and inspirations. St. Joan d'Arc is the one that called me into this direction.
I practice intercession of the saints and angels.
I perform tarot readings, prayer, devotions and offerings, and have done minor spellwork using flora, minerals, and herbs. I especially enjoy astrology and natal chart tracking.
More info about my beliefs can be found here. I will update and change my ideology and catalogue my beliefs there over time.
I love dark and horror content, please be advised! I may reblog such things especially including media as Midnight Mass (Netflix), FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, Ghost (band), and more. I love the genre especially when combined with existentialism, and I find a lot of meaning and inspiration in some of this content. I will tag these with Temple:Darkmode for you to mute if you do not like to see this kind of stuff!
I welcome Christo-pagans, Christians, Orthodox, Pagans, Heathens, Luciferians, and more as long as we agree on mutual respect, progressive values, protecting trans lives, supporting Palestine, etc.!
I am ESPECIALLY looking for mutuals that practice as Christian-adjacent that are interested in knowing someone that may see things differently.
Please engage/follow me if you vibe with anything above (and would care to see my content and what I share, of course)!

hey my dear humans! how y'all doing?
this is for my dear religious queers.
how is your relationship between being queer and being religious?/gen/lh/pos
HAPPY EASTER AND TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY!!! This is your yearly reminder that Jesus loves and accepts trans people!!

im not particularly religious but i think it’s very cute that Trans Day of Visibility and Easter are on the same day this year :)
its no question that something like this could be triggering or upsetting to a number of queer ppl given the current sociopolitical climate, so i want everyone to remember that u are loved! Regardless of what u or others believe, there are ppl who will love and support you always. Give yourself patience and treat yourself with care!!!
happy and peaceful TDOV everyone!! And Easter to those who celebrate :D
in the most genuinely kind way, queer christians will always be the weirdest motherfuckers you’ve ever met

Big shout out to the coalition of Catholic nuns who just told the US bishops to stop being transphobic.
“As members of the body of Christ, we cannot be whole without the full inclusion of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals,” the letter reads. It goes on to argue that “we will remain oppressors until we — as vowed Catholic religious — acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people in our own congregations. We seek to cultivate a faith community where all, especially our transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive siblings, experience a deep belonging.”
The letter also states transgender people are “experiencing harm and erasure” in various ways, listing daily discrimination, a groundswell of state-level legislation aimed at LGBTQ rights and “harmful rhetoric from some Christian institutions and their leaders, including the Catholic Church.”

People are sometimes surprised to know there are active LGBT church members. How can we sustain church leaders? How can we pay tithing to a church that has done much good, but also much harm?
Speaking only for my self, I sustain the church as it seeks to move into harmony with the perfect light of Christ. I pay tithing to God and expect the Church to be a wise steward and use those monies for ends God approves of.
If our human church leaders fail, by word or action, to achieve these goals in their daily walk, then I try to extend to them the same grace I hope they will learn to extend to me. When I am hurt by their words or actions along the way, I remember this:
“…Whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain… I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:39-44)
The New Testament makes a point to show that a woman was trusted with the monumental task of carrying and raising the Son of God, women stuck with Jesus Christ through thick and thin while the men ran away when things got scary, and women were the first few to learn of Christ’s Resurrection, but yeah, Christianity pushes the idea that God hates women and wants us oppressed, because something something female demon who isn’t even in the Bible or any Christian theology at all.
there's too much animosity towards queer people who want to practice their faith/spirituality, both within their respective religions and within the LGBTQIA+ community.
we need to protect and lift up our queer siblings of faith.
our queer Christians.
our queer Jews.
our queer Muslims.
our queer Hindus.
our queer Buddhists.
our queer Sikhs.
our queer Baháʼís.
our queer Wiccans/Pagans.
our queer Shintos.
our queer siblings of indigenous/folk faiths.
our queer SBNR siblings.
our queer siblings of whatever religion/spiritual systems they observe.
you're all beautiful and valid and loved and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. 💖

Trans-inclusive language in religious texts is SO IMPORTANT. There is nothing in some young people’s lives that can either validate or dehumanize them so quickly as how they see themselves represented in the words of their religion.
May all who need to see these words find them.
personally, i love that the pride flag is the rainbow; i LOVE that it's the same symbol used in the bible as God's promise of safety to noah. i am reminded of all the queer people of history; i am reminded of lives lived with no sign of land, of people shamed because they loved, killed because they loved, even in the name of God, and with no sign of the world ever getting better. every time i see a rainbow flag, it feels like a sign that the storm is finally passing over.
there are two men in my parish getting married in the cathedral later this year; i can almost see the clouds parting; i am starting to feel the sun coming in.
From a recent conversation with my mother, I got this idea from her into my own wording while talking about labels regarding spiritual beliefs.
« In spirituality, we can borrow from the LGBT community the idea that we can define ourselves not from the expectations of others nor the pressure to ultimately knowing ourselves in a given time, but a journey in which we remember that labels were never the most important thing. Even in the queer community, there exists the words and descriptions for people who feel that none of the current labels describe them, and they can exist freely without defining themselves through them.
» The LGBTQIA+ means "the existent" (the letters) and "the more" (the plus), all and everything it is, in which people recognize the limitation of language, words and labels. To use labels means navigating ourselves, since what comes most is that the interpretation of ourselves can change… and we ourselves can change, feel that a label doesn't suit us anymore, and that is completely normal and ok.
» In relation to this, of your worries as a teenager in a world were things can feel above you, living with that intellectual frustration, letting that pressure in the youthful mind of wanting to know and control everything can be hard. But in there is the Good News which means that in confusion there will come light and something greater, recognizing that it's reaching beyond common perceptions of the Good and the Right, but the Wholeness in the Beauty of our existence, beyond morality, beyond any notions of free will and devoutness, but of progress, of keeping going and just live and be.»
I am a queer christian, so the whole time I was "ermm… ofc mom, I understand that :)" however I'm incredibly glad she has gotten to the point of understanding that basic aspect of the queer community that is often so misunderstood, something that it was going to prove to be really hard to explain that to her myself, which makes me think that she's fond of gay people now (in reference to the homophobic dog meme, which she was once).
Perhaps she's been doing all of that for me, perhaps it's also for her close queer family members, I don't know, but it's a beautiful and relieving sight; knowing how hard it has been for me to reconcile my identity this has been transmitting into my mom in one way or another, God bless us 🤍🙏

All the hymns are about acceptance and welcoming too!! I love this place!

Seeing people post "Do not label yourself as part of the LGBT while being christian." And I think I'm going to cry. God already knows what I am, why should I be hiding it? All because I'm "not normal"?
