An excerpt from 500 DAYS OF SUMMER (2009) Screenplay

      This movie is very playful with the graphic effects. Of course it ties into Tom’s imagination and point of view, but the descriptions here on the page are so characteristic of the narrator. I love a screenplay that reads more than an operation.

      As a life path 8, Lauryn Hill’s major life lessons are ruled by the planet of soul accountability and conscious gravity. Within her chart: Saturn is in the sign of self-reflection.

     With four placements in Gemini, Lauryn has one major stellium… there are six air sign placements, and also six fire sign placements, out of eighteen total. Which signals to passion of communication through her life purpose.

     Saturn naturally rules Capricorn, and predominantly directs the Root, while also influencing the Third-Eye. These chakra are very abundant, as portals to the unconscious. It’s the center of emotional security, along with the center of mental health. A pronounced Root introduces a strong sense of security, which allows to form a healthy sexual identity. While a pronounced Third-Eye would introduce a strong inner clarity, which could develop clairvoyant or claircognizant abilities.

     People with predominant masculine placements (Air+Fire) tend to struggle with objective perspectives. Your spiritual autonomy grows as you explore your personal beliefs. When we neglect to realize our own beliefs, we would confuse the context of our socialization and struggle to form a real identity.

     Within her Vedic chart, Lauryn’s Jyestha nakshatra symbolizes unfavorable misgivings in connection with household tradition. The Goddess Jyestha was born within a cosmic ocean as counterpart to her younger sister, Lakshmi. While her sister embodies beauty and fortune, Jyestha is to exemplify the exact opposite. She is said to dwell among sinners, as the symbol of sloth, she brings sorrow and causes poverty. I see that this reflects the pressure of traditionally feminine roles within family. It allows me to surmise the sensitivity of social expectations which can motivate a deviation from certain identities.

scott pilgrim vs the chakras!

i strung up a theory based within my personal understanding of the chakra system, because i found it was inconspicuously interpreted through the caricatures in this story. though i considered the movie more heavily, i pretty much merged the content of the storyline together with that of the comics so that i could draw out more tangible context.

the basis of this theory is mainly found in highlighting ramona’s exes to mirror characteristics of the chakras. i also analyze scott’s exes to round it off, further centering our main couple.

Lucas Lee: the Sacral Blocked by Sloth 

the skate-boarder turned movie-star shares a pretty uneventful past with ramona flowers. “sitting on the curb smoking” was the only thing flowers could recall about their relationship. but considering that she was pressured by his persistence, its clear that his energy as her partner didn’t live up to those stalker motivations at all. lee’s newfound popularity only managed to reinforce that one-sided infatuation. even though he has managed to build a career as an action movie-star, he is surrounded by doubles who do all his stunts. this signals to his weak identity and lack of inspiration. of course he’s defeated by a skateboarding dare because his sin of sloth blocked him from following through with his passions!

      In Joy’s case, her placement of Sun in Virgo highlights self-awareness as the method to progress into wholeness. The Violet aura resonates within abilities of the Crown chakra, which rules Aries and Leo. In Joy’s chart: Saturn in Aries could reveal where the main obstacles in her life are rooted, while Black Moon Lilith in Leo speaks to the depth of how that affects her character.

       The energy leak takes away from the quality of her bright personality which is a huge point of magnetism in her life. She’s meant to draw in the right people who share the same work ethic. However, her ability to enjoy the work she does may be thwarted by her ideals and expectations. 

      I’m getting that she is overwhelmed by coworkers and employers because of inconsistent communication. Stress around those situations goes straight to her head if she’s unable to express her thoughts candidly.

Depending on how you utilize the Tarot, you would be expressing it’s innate variables in exponential quantities. Basically you are interacting with a system programmed to output the values that you define yourself. It’s like calculating with a formula of drawings, or even playing with dolls.

The Major Arcana are designed to hold a large value. Some of us confuse this value as the SUM of it’s significance, which is more mathematic than esoteric. Since the astronomical (scientific) truths programmed into it literally reflect universal (divine) values in the first place. But it’s just that you define these values because you are meant to interact with your subjective narrative. The art of Tarot comes alive through your individual spirit!

The Eleventh Major Arcana is significant as the universal value of Justice. How do you value Justice? Your perception of Justice will reflect back to you in this card. I interpret Justice as difference; personal truth versus honest intentions. People can be truthful about what they perceive, while reserving their emotional honesty. Conversely people are capable of expressing their honest intentions, while their reasoning is far from the truth of the matter.

Justice requires the precision to determine where our feelings are separate from reality. If people focus too much on the duality of good versus bad, they will extricate the polarity of real balance. Real harmony does not survive off persecution and judgement, instead it is sustained in radical empathy. Which recognizes the human condition and strives to develop deeper moral understanding. Instead of basing your truths on strict information.
