TheĀ Peluda, also calledĀ La Velue, terrorized the North-Western area of France in medieval times. Many called it a dragon but it was most often reported as an ox-sized porcupine. It had green hair-like spines coming off its back and when it needed to, those spines would harden and it could shoot them off at its enemy. Reportedly, the spines were also poisonous. The beast also was said to have a green, scaly head, body and legs.Ā
The beast was said to be able to do a number of dangerous abilities including being able to wither crops, creating floods just by stepping into rivers and spitting out a stream of water or evenĀ acid.
Lore says that the Peluda was defeated when a man, angered that the beast killed his fiancĆ©e, cut off the beastās tail. Its tail was its weak point and it died immediately afterwards.
