Imagine Regulus was diagnosed as a kid with autism and he understands neurodivergency very well. Imagine James trying to figure out what is wrong with him for years. And imagine Regulus helping him realise he has ADHD and get diagnosis and ADHD pills after they get together. Now James is not only happy because he is in love but also because he doesn't feel broken anymore.

We don’t talk enough about autistic Regulus and his social anxiety, his hatred of change, his tendency to be always very methodical and tidy while avoiding attentions and blending in with the room; Sirius has always been his focal point, the only one who could calm him down after a meltdown, until James came.

Lovely James, with adhd and an attention span almost non existent, and yet who can only focus on Regulus when he is in the room, making him feel seen and heard in such a sweet and gentle way that Regulus could do nothing but making him the second sun of his own personal solar system.

I’m not crying because I want a Regulus, you are.

“are you even listening to me?”

james flutters his eyelids quickly before refoucisng back into reality to see regulus staring at him, half upset, half confused. with a sheepish smile, the gryffindor asks, “i’m sorry, what did you say?”

he sits for a moment, waiting for regulus to get irritated and moody like everybody else. but he doesn’t.

“it’s okay,” he smiles, genuine. “sometimes you can’t focus. i’ll just explain it again.”
