"A carnivals in town? Huh.." Onyx looked at the flyer in her hand. "Sounds like fun. Id like to see it." 216 piped up. "Definently sounds more fun than the dark and damp technicians labs at the metro." Nine sighed, her octoling goggles around her neck. "Well, if everyones in agreement here.." Onyx looked at the other octolings. "we're goin' to the carnival!" She announced.
"Easy! Colored contact lenses! I can modify a pair of fake contacts to give your eyes the oh so spooky sanitized look! I can also throw in a voice modifier that rests under your tongue so you have the echo in your voice that we sanitized do! Dont worry, I can make it so you wont know its there~" She grinned excitedly. "Being the former head technician of the deepsea metro has its advantages~"
"Maybe you could go as a sanitized octoling? I can help you with the bodypaint and hair dye! I am sanitized myself after all!" Nine chirped, her ponytail, and herself, bouncing excitedly. "if you don't wanna go with that, I can whip something else up!~"
“Oh, you’d do that? That’s so nice! But how would I make my eyes the way sanitized are? You know, the black eyes with glowing green pupils? I want it to be as realistic as possible!”
"this is easily one of my favorite tracks from Off The Hook." Nine grinned. "I may be sanitized, but I'm not uncultured."
"EEEEEHH???! Inklings can glow?! AWESOME!!! I need to research this immediately!" Nine squealed, running away excitedly.

“My darling brother put bubble bath in the jacuzzi and now the bathroom is completely flooded with foam. Conveniently, he’s nowhere to be found.”
"Will do, and i'll let the others know to keep an eye out for him too. Seven sets of highly trained eyes are better than one, after all!"

"Shes got a point!" Nine shouted. "Even though I met my demise at girl power station, my baby brother Agent Eight saved the world in my stead, and freed me in the process!" The sanitized octoling agent grinned proudly.
“Cod.....missions in heels are no fun.” Callie huffed. Marie nodded. “True. They hurt.”
“Oh, come on, can’t be that bad.” Theo chuckled.
“Just elevated shoes.” Jesse added.
“.....” Octa stared at them. “OBVIOUSLY NONE OF YOU SAVED THE ENTIRE WORLD IN HEELS-“

Nonet sighed as she prepared herself for the turf match that was about to begin. "Starfish Mainstage, huh? This reminds me of that one tower control station back in the metro.." She murmured. Her teammates, all inklings, gave her shocked looks, as they werent used to seeing a sanitized octoling in a turf match. The young octoling kept a tight grip on her slosher as she watched one inkling start inking before the match had even begun. She stared in utter shock and confusion as she saw enemy ink being spread everywhere. And FAST. "How in the world..?!" She yelped, swinging her slosher and making herself a pathway. Once she had spotted Tabitha, she narrowes her eyes and swallowed hard. Was this inkling a hacker?? How was she doing this so easily? She immediatly headed twords the middle, using a combination of her main and sub weapons to ink as much as possible, and tried to avoid Tabitha's teammates at the same time, which wasnt exactly the easiest task in the world when your main weapon was just a bucket.
@onyx-and-friends It was a seemingly normal day in Inkopolis, a turf war match in Starfish mainstage was about to start. Little did her teammates know Tabitha had big plans. As she got out of her squid form she could tell something was wrong with someone on the enemy team, a sanitized octoling? It didn’t look like one of the “rival” octolings either, meaning it was likely another hacker. Oh boy… that’s not a good sign. Before the match even officially started Tabitha had hopped off her team’s respawner and started painting turf with her custom heroshot, spraying more ink than realistically should’ve been possible even with max inksaver. How Judd and Li’l didn’t instantly call a foul and disqualify Tabitha is a mystory A few seconds into the match and her base was already perfectly inked, much to the surprise and joy to her teammates. Tabitha was curious about the sanitized on the enemy team and was making a beeline right for the purple team’s base which she was going to do anyways.
Nonet studied the ink with a confused expression. "This.. Isnt standard yellow ink.. And it.. Smells of lemonade..? What the shell is this stuff..??" Being too caught up in Tabitha's odd ink, she didn't realize the inkling had found her until she heard her voice. A startled squeal left the octoling as she whipped around to face Tabitha. "Waugh! Hi!?" Her clawed fingers trembled in shock as she held onto her weapon. She was tense, ready to run away if Tabitha tried anything to splat her. A shooter against a slosher wasnt exactly the best match up at close range, after all.

Two of Tabitha’s teammates had started to squid party while another one was going in to deal with the purple team as well, mainly going for kills since Tabitha was handling the inking very well. There was a strong scent of lemonade on the battleground for some unexplained reason, the source was seemingly due to the strange ink Tabitha was spraying. It had an odd sheen to it, it wasn’t quite sanitized ink nor salmonid ink… what was this stuff? Finally she had made her way over to where Nonet was.
“Hey~”
"..Y-yea, i am an actual sanitized octoling. I used to be a test subject for the kamabo corporation with my baby brother, but i got taken out.." She scratched the back of her neck nervously and fooled with her ponytail. "I know its a shocker to see a sanitized octoling here, but i havent found a way to reverse the effects of the sanitization serum yet and turn myself back to normal.." Nonet sighed and set her slosher by her feet. Seems she wouldnt need to use it right this minute. "I have to ask though. How on earth did you manage to ink so much turf so quickly? Surely a modified weapon of that caliber wouldn't go unnoticed by the judges!"

Tabitha examined the sanitized. Yep, that’s a sanitized alright. Seeing how pathetic she was acting she was having some doubts but she wasn’t detecting the normal tech used to fake having no vitals.
“So… you’re an actual sanitized huh?” Tabitha seemed unphased by the octoling’s slosher, not even looking at it.
"Yeah, that makes sense." She chuckled. "Hmm?..Not exactly. I didnt just leave. No sanitized soldier can simply leave the metro as they please. We're forbidden to leave the metro.. Actually i dont think we even have the mindset to even consider leaving, or anything other than obeying orders.. Most sanitized are mindless zombie..slave..THINGS, if im being frank." Nonet shuddered. "It wasnt until my baby brother saved inkopolis from an inky sanitized doom at the hands of the commanders genocide cannon that i was able to leave, as my mind control was somehow broken the moment Pearl blew up the statue with her killer wail. After that, I joined up with Marina, Pearl and Eight as they traveled back to inkopolis, soo.."

Nonet blinked in mild confusion. How on earth did she know so much about the NSS? And there was another Agent Eight?! "I..hm. So your agent eight is a female with the tentacurl style.. My agent eight is a male with the mohawk style.. Maybe we're from alternate universes..? I dont know..Surely if we had another sister we would know her.. I mean, we have our older brother Ten but.." She furrowed her eyebrows together in bewilderment. She racked her mind for any possible explanation as to why there could be two agent eights. "How could there be two different Agent Eights..? That doesnt make any sense unless my alternate universe theory holds any water."

“Hold the phone… that doesn’t sound right.”
“The agent 8 I know is a female octoling, dark skin, orange eyes and the tentacurl haircut. Not a male octoling, even assuming she’s trans that still doesn’t fix the issue as none of her siblings were ever reported missing…” Of course, it should probably be a red flag this random inkling knew so much about New Squidbeak Splatoon affairs but Tabitha would cross that bridge when she got to it.
Nonet nodded, humming softly. "That makes more sense then.. I need to experiment with alternate universe travel when I have the chance.. I was the head technician of the metro for a while after all.." Noticing Tabitha throwing burst bombs, she sighed and threw out a suction bomb, and then used her slosher some to ink a bit more turf around them. When her tank ran dry, she set her weapon back down. There wasnt any doubt. This inkling was hacking. Even if her entire team was working overtime, Tabitha could erase all their progress in a second with a single burst bomb barrage. "Yeah, theres no doubt im gonna lose this match." She laughed. Even in the face of an impossible victory, she kept her spirits high. How? Who knows.

“Well, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve ended up in another universe so that could be an explanation.” Remembering she of course was still in a turf war match she threw a load of oversized burst bombs all over the turf war stage, turning all the land yellow once again in a matter of seconds.
Nonet giggled, an almost identical giggle to those of the enemy octolings. "Yeah, true. It IS a turf match after all." Noticing one of her teammates trying to splat Tabitha, she cringed as she saw them get oneshotted. The strange shield around Tabitha made her eyes widen in wonder. "A spawnpoint shield around an inkling? Thats new.." She murmured. "I need to research that for the future.. It could come in handy." She swiftly took a couple of notes in a small notebook she kept in her pocket, happily humming Fly Octo Fly as she did so.

“Heheh, sorry about that. Not stopping though.”
She looked over to her teammates, they were still squid partying. One of Nonet’s teammates had taken note of Tabitha just standing there and tried to go in for the kill, unfortunately their ink just bounced off Tabitha’s shield. Said shield was identical to the kind used on the respawners, the inkling seemed taken aback by this but before they could do anything Tabitha one shotted them with her heroshot.
“Maybe you’ll think twice before you interrupt my conversations.”
Nonet grinned, her eyes still on her notebook. "Its unheard of here, as far as I know, so if i can somehow make a successful prototype of this sort of technology.." She trailed off, an excited squeal leaving her. She looked up at the question, blinking. "Its Fly Octo Fly, one of Off The Hook's songs. They even have an 'octo' version of Ebb and Flow for the last minute of the song. I believe it was used in Finalfest's shifty station, "MC Princess Diaries". It was also used when Eight saved the world from the NILS statue's genocide canon."

“Yeah I suppose it’s new tech, about a few years old and nowhere ready for mass production.” She tilted her head as the octoling hummed.
“What’s that sound you’re singing?”
She grinned, placing the notebook back in her pocket. "I can understand that. I dont think it was used anywhere else, so.." The octoling blinked as she heard the mistake. "Circuit Sisters?.. Ohh! Alright. Ive never heard of the Circuit Sisters before. The Squid Sisters, however, are one of my favorites too! Until I heard the Calamari Inkantation, I had no idea what I was creating in the metro was a weapon of..potential mass destruction." She rubbed the back of her neck shyly and looked away. "After I was caught trying to sabotage my own work, I was thrown out and demoted to test subject, and eventually that led me to..where I am now." She seemed nervous as she spoke of her actions in the past, her rounded ears drooping in shame as she recalled creating the device that killed so many.

“I mean Squid Sisters, my bad. Circuit Sisters were a band I discovered first who did covers of the Squid Sisters’ music so I sometime mix the two up.”
Nonet looked up slightly as Tabitha spoke, a soft giggle making itself known. "Yeah, I guess you're right. It just haunts me that my own creation killed over ten thousand innocent lives, two of them almost being my brother and the captain. I dont think ill ever get over that." She sighed to herself as a shiver ran up her back at the memories being recalled. "If i could only just go back and stop myself..But its water under the bridge now, and ive just got to live with it."

“Gonna be honest here, I’ve only heard The Calamari Inkantation once and that was for Final Fest. Only song I really like from the Squid Sisters is City of Color.”
Tabitha seemed to give a blank expression when the octoling was admitting her crimes, she should’ve been upset but wasn’t. Tartar had a bit of a cult down there, it wasn’t her fault she fell victim to his high charisma stat.
“Don’t beat yourself up too hard, Marina didn’t intend for Tartar to use her Flooders to create the sanitized either. Tartar is just a lowlife who can’t make a single original invention to save his artificial life.”
she smiled a little, scratching her cheek. "I'll look into that. A service animal sounds nice." Hearing Tabitha ask her name, she immediately blushed. "Ah! Sorry! I'm Nonet. Failed test subject and former head technician of the Deepsea Metro. Ive.. only just recently remembered my name after looking through the metros records of all the technicians that have come and gone." "Most sanitized do suffer from memory loss, but if they discover previous records of before they were sanitized, they'll recall not just their names, but the brainwashing effect will break as well, as theyll regain all their memories. However that works. Most sanitized soldiers have their mem cakes destroyed."

Okay now she was confused, last she recalled not all the test subjects were blended. Even still, just because they were blended it didn’t mean they were dead. From her research on the ooze it needed to constantly be reblended over and over for the test subjects to not reform. Of course then it hit her, different universe. Bringing up how things were better off in her world would only make the poor octoling feel worse so decided not to mention it for the time being and to just continue being supportive. Tabitha slowly nods.
“Best I can think to do is to get some therapy to help ease the pain, maybe get a service animal to help make you feel better if you can afford one.”
“I uh, I don’t remember catching your name. Do you even remember it? I ask because I know a lot of sanitized suffer memory loss.”
