a long time ago, i wrote probably the only vaas/ajay fic to ever exist, and forgot to finish. i decided to show some of ya’ll what i was writing, the story is about maybe 6 chapters but definitely expected to be less than 10 if i ever continue this. anyway, please enjoy: the first chapter of broken boy, perfect view!
I. no u-turn!
The year is 2005. July. The number isn’t important, just the place it happened to be.
California is weird: Up north is cold, foggy, even, a bit hard for sunshine to come around but it doesn’t snow. Down south is what everybody talks about all the time: where it’s hot, where Hollywood stalks by, and it’s just a little bit hotter than what Ajay is used to.
It’s fine. The neighborhood his mother had put them in is fine too. He’s only been here for about a week and nothing had been out the ordinary yet, not really (not that he was expecting to). Their town is close to the pier and it’s a good walk from a carnival front and back, and the beach is practically open.
The place is fine, and Ishwari isn’t really around as often, so he gets the house to himself but could probably wander elsewhere anyway, so he picks the better idea and steps out.

a thought: the one from the sexy au you brought up, i was thinking about ajay actually still having the sense to notice that something might be wrong with vaas and being lowkey about taking care of him :DD
I think Ajay would notice quite quickly. I mean, my man is a ticking time bomb. He’s all buddy-buddy with you, then a second later he’s beating the shit out of you.
Once they start growing closer (in many ways wink wonk) that’s when Ajay has the confidence to ask Vaas if he’s doing alrigth. And if Ajay does join the pirates, he would be the one keeping Vaas sort of sane and in line (once again, in many ways).

okay you know whats lowkey driving me insane? the ajaas au where ajay joins vaas. i cannot stop thinking about the possibilities of jason suddenly seeing them and ajay having to match up with him in terms of “taking down a country” so theres like a possibility of a fight that jason and ajay have wiyh each other. it’s as if ajay’s vaas’s most loyal dog, but jason later finds out ajay’s just trying to protect vaas ;w;

I think Jason migth see Ajay as the first obstacle that stands in his way to get to Vaas. Ajay’s almost always next to Vaas, like a personal bodyguard so if Jason wants to get rid of Vaas he needs to get rid of Ajay first.
Another thougth I had is, since Ajay is a soldier in this one he migth’ve knew Grant. And because of this, Jason would mostly likely want to track him down so he could help find the others. (Willis could Also play into this since Ajay arrived to the island with him). But he’s left utterly dissapointed, when he finds out his seemingly only way out of this place, has joined the enemy.
On an angstier note, after his little fistfigth with Ajay, if Jason somehow manages to get to Vaas before Ajay gets to play bodyguard again then that’s where he would kill Vaas (since nobody’s there to watch his back.) And this is where I can imagine Jason learning about their little relationship.
On an even angstier note, Ajay himself witnesses Jason killing Vaas. Which would result in Ajay desperetly trying to scrape Vaas’ body of the floor, not letting Jason take a step closer. He starts mumbling about how this wasn’t supposed to happen and so on. In the end Ajay either attacks Jason which results in Jason accidentaly killing Ajay or Ajay just sits there and the pirates have to forcefully drag him away.
angst thought number #120398102938: do you wonder how many self destructive tirades vaas has been on, trying to push ajay away from him only to find himself being comforted that ajay doesn't wanna leave him? cause i do ;w;
Most people left him, especially his family excluding Diego, but even he knows to take a step back when he sees his brother clawed his own hand bloody again.
Ajay though, Vaas can’t tell him shit. He’ll bandage up his and even if he gets a few scars himself from Vaas biting at him. At one point, Ajay even tells him this, that he’s not going to leave him because he loves him.
And that’s probably the first ‘ I love you ‘ that didn’t come from his mother or his brother.

What if Ajaya got to Montana County directly Nick Rice airport, Nick saw him, he invited him to the hangar for a bottle of beer to the First Acquaintance and then fell in love with the Wing bar and there they are quenched by the hostess Mary May for a new friend
Not really familiar with Nick, I almost never used him in FC5, (only ever used Peaches and Hurk, sometimes Adalaide or Boomer came handy too.) so I don't really have an idea how he and Ajay would interract.
Altough, if we take that one unnamed military ajay au me and @broken-balance-baby somehow cooked up, Ajay could arrive to Monatana in search of Willis and that's how he meets Nick. During their bottle of beer I'd think it would mostly likely be Nick asking all sorts of question and Ajay just anwsering.
hm so basically the reason why vaas's death was held in such a degree that made vaas want it is because he was suicidal... so when we apply that to the au where ajay joins him, do you think about how he must've still been wanting death despite ajay being the one to take care of him? or does he start regretting it midway but ends up dying?

I'd think the more comfortable he gets with Ajay, the more he regrets it. Because, hey! Someone doesn't treat him like a dog for once!
But ofcourse, Jason has to pull up at some point which brings us back to the " both of them die " or " Vaas dies and Ajay has to be dragged away " situation

@broken-balance-baby has this headcanon where Ajay has a tattoo of a Kyrati dragon on his back, so ofcourse I had to draw it in Ajaas context
