Inktober 2018, Day 11, Alain Richter (Love & Legends) holding a white rose. Was I the only one tearing up after reading the recent release of August’s route? Oh my god, that scene was just beautiful, yet painful as fuck to read. And, they even used his theme song in the background. My heart aches… (T_T)’’’

My first post on Tumblr was to submit fanart to Voltage for the hearts in February 2018. And, the first character I drew was Alain. I’m quite happy with the improvements I’ve made since February for my drawings. Though, there is always room for improvement. And, I think I drew his armor more accurately this time around. I’m just so excited I was able to redraw Alain holding a white rose again!
I know Alain’s not a popular character, but he’s my favorite male character from Love & Legends. His plot and writer have been a target of some critical confessions. But, I think that we should respect all the characters, stories, and people who work on them. With that being said, Alain season 4 is coming and I’m excited!

Sort of based off a scene from @amemixfan fanfic with Alain and Helena owning a bakery. I’m kind of hoping that Voltage will do some sort of cross-over with them and Sweet Enchantments cause they both bake!

It fucking hurts
I was really depressed the past couple of days, but this line of dialogue in the screenshot above cheered me up.
Alain Richter…this character is so kind and sees beyond physical appearances. Can we talk about how society nowadays pressures and guilts women into *NEEDING* to dress themselves up to feel valid?
The MC is wearing a hoodie, t-shirt, and jeans. She cares about her appearance, she wants to look good for Alain. But, Alain doesn’t really care…granted they are both a little tipsy, Alain loves the MC for something more than a pretty face. Unfortunately, most dating APPs nowadays like Tinder focus on physical appearances and swiping based on that. I think we loose sight of what really matters, people’s personalities, hobbies, and more! We are people! We are not a deck of cards to be swiped and dealt!
I remember a conversation I had with a friend recently and I was complaining to him that I was feeling sick of having to dress up pretty for dates. (Listen, I’m a huge tomboy and my closet is mostly jeans, shirts, and hoodies lol…solidarity with the L&L MC here.) And, he said that I should just be myself and shouldn’t feel the necessity to look good for a guy (or girl or partner). If they love you, then they’ll love you for who you are, not what you look like.

But, seriously…that line of dialogue makes me feel valid. Whoever wrote that deserves a gold medal and some of my blueberry muffins.

It’s nice to get off work, get tossed into a portal to a mysterious fantasy land, get mistaken for a ruthless killer queen, and then to top it off, have some divine, mysterious being tell you that your fate is linked with the destiny of the world for the next thousand years. No pressure guys. Just an avocado toast eating millennial here passing by. /flips table anime style/

That is not something you want to tell a millennial, trust me..I eat avocado toast at brunch.
For those who didn’t want to give Alain’s route a chance and complained of poor organization and plot…I just wanted to say, season 4 was fucking amazing and pretty much wrapped everything up. You guys should really give Alain’s route another try, it’s organized differently from Helena’s route, but holds its own.
“[…] He continues to shed blood in the name of a childhood love whom he cannot accept died with the birth of the Witch Queen. She tortures him time and time again, using his own heart as a weapon against him. Without your love, he cannot free himself from the Witch Queen’s cruel grasp.” (Libra dialogue)
“In all of time and space, this is the only timeline in which Alain’s path is intertwined with yours.” (Libra dialogue)
We get a reason as to why Alain is irredeemable in the rest of the Love & Legend routes besides his own. (Voltage, just go ahead and shatter my heart into a million pieces again after I had to spend a couple weeks piecing it back together.) When the goddess Libra is speaking of timelines/paths, I believe it’s parallel to all the other character routes where the MC falls in love with someone else. When the MC mentioned she wishes she could save them all, that’s just heart-breaking. So, Alain fans…I’m sorry, but expect more heartbreak in the other Love & Legends routes. Our garden loving pure boy will meet a tragic end in every route except his own. :*(
The narration/dialogue greatly improved in season 4 compared to season 3. Season 3 lacked a lot of poetic dialogue from Alain and the MC’s dialogue was a bit weak without Alain’s dialogue to compliment hers, but he recovered his poetics in season 4. Check out a sample of Alain’s poetic dialogue below!
“I have loved you since I first set eyes on you, and I will continue to love you through life, and past death. I will love you until the stars blink out of the sky and the moon loses her light.” (Alain dialogue)
I just wanted to say wow!? I know that stars don’t have an infinite life, but it sure does seem infinite in the eyes of a human. Thought that line of dialogue from Alain was pure poetry, and instead of saying that he’d love the MC forever, he compared forever to the burning stars and glowing moon.
The scene where they take a dip in the warm ocean under the moonlight and stars is one of my favorites so far in all of Alain’s seasons next to the rose garden scenes. A bit reminiscent of the scene with Alex Cyprin and the Astoria MC taking a dip in Olympus! Love those type of romantic scenes in nature! Highly suggest that heart scene, it was lovely and worth the hearts!

Another heart scene worthy of your wallet is the Love & Legends MC being a fucking *badass* for leading the charge against the Witch Queen’s forces while casting magic strong enough to create a giant shield. You guys totally need to get that heart scene. It’s amazing and creates a strong finale for season 4.

If the caliber Helena’s story was immeasurable like the infinite stars in the heavens, then Alain’s overall story thus far, especially season 4 is as beautiful as the moonlight casting a reflection of itself and the infinite stars into a calm lake. In parallel, Alain’s story, despite similar origins as Helena’s, has it’s own poetic beauty and for those who doubted his story, I urge you guys to give him another chance. You won’t be disappointed, season 4 was beautiful and a mix of emotions.
And, there ya’ go…that concludes my wall-of-text review for Alain season 4 finale! Can’t wait for season 5 for both of the ice generals, they are my favorites!

L&L AU where everything is the same except Alain doesn’t die in every route!!!
Most of them are pretty good, but some sound a bit unprofessional. They are actors, not high school students
Can we have an L&L AU where the entire thing is a tv show?
• Like August’s actor live tweets every time it comes up on TV and likes to make fun of the characters.
• Saerys’ actor is actually British and always complains about the contacts they make him wear.
• Iseul’s actor has to get a new wig every so often because the studio is cheap and the little hair fibers fall off. It’s actually a game on set to see how many hairs they’ll find in between takes.
• Solaire’s actress has a very active Snapchat following and posts little behind the scenes videos for fans. Sometimes she screws up and spoils the next episode.
• The actress that plays MC also plays the Witch Queen so you have the occasional video where she is acting like a cute goofball on set as the Witch Queen which is a hilarious parallel.
• The actor that plays Alain h a t e s the way Lovestruck treats his character and constantly brings it up in interviews. He makes fun of Alain’s constant self sacrifice on social media and will casually mention on interviews that “oh I’m so excited for season 8-you know if I’m not KILLED OFF this time.”
• The actress that plays Helena is actually an activist for abuse and rape survivors so she works hand in hand with the team when it comes to writing her character. She’s directed a few episodes centered around Helena and other activists like Mariska Hargitay have praised her for it. She probably has quite a few awards.
•The actors that play the Generals are actually pretty nice in real life and are always hanging out with the Wolfson crew offcamera. It’s always a running joke that they’re hanging out with the enemy.
•The actor that plays Reiner actually didn’t have a beard before filming but now has to keep it because it’s “a part of his brand”.
• The actor that plays Magnus wears a fake mustache and it keeps falling off during takes.
• The actress that plays Altea is also big on social media so she’ll walk around set taking selfies and photos with the cast. She probably nominated at least one of the other actors for the Ice Bucket Challenge. More than likely has a YouTube channel.
• It’s a running joke to ask the actress that plays MC which of her costars is the better kisser. She swears she will take it to her grave and refuses to answer.
• The actress that plays Altea totally dyed her hair for the role despite being offered a wig because “she wanted pink hair anyway”. Her real life little brother probably plays Lional also and that’s why it was easy to play off siblings.
• There is a whole blooper reel of MC screwing up her lines because she has to memorize two different characters. She more than likely has accidentally started a scene as MC with her “Witch Queen” voice.
• Saerys’ actor has probably also screwed up a scene by slowly sliding into a British accent on accident because “goddamn it what would a demon accent even sound like?!”
• Alain’s actor has tossed the script more than once and complained that his character keeps getting killed off. He probably even mocks his “route” online by live tweeting.
• August’s actor has never actually ridden a horse before and totally panicked when they said he had to learn.
• Ryland and Solaire’s actors have stumbled on set sneakingly trying to get on camera because they don’t have enough screen time.
• Reiner’s actor actually can’t play the piano and has to move his fingers around to a recording. There might even be a little video one of the other cast members snagged from an angle where you can clearly see his fingers are not touching the keys.
• It’s always awkward to film magic scenes because Helena and Altea just wave their hands around and CGI takes care of the rest. So you’ll have their actresss flinging their arms every which way then the other actors falling to the floor dramatically and out of no where to mimic dying by spell.
• It’s a joke that the studio can’t afford more extras so you constantly see the same knights around. The Dwarven and human knights have become memes on social media for their constant cameos.
• Ishara’s actress is actually a mom and sometimes brings her kids on set. The other actors love to call her their “screen mom” and she brings snacks for them to eat because they’re “not eating enough”.
• At least one of the Generals has a very dramatic blooper reel of them dying in an overly comedic and exagerated fashion.
• There’s also another blooper reel during sex scenes because the actors always end up laughing during takes because of how silly it is to film those.
• As soon as the director yells “Cut!”, there’s a swear from one of the cast members as they rip off their armor because “oh my God it’s hot in this thing!”
• The actresses that play Sophie / Solaire and MC / Witch Queen always have trouble when they’re filming a scene where both their characters are interacting. “Where do I look? How far do I reach out? What am I doing?”
• Helena’s actress has to wear heels because Helena is ridiculously tall and sometimes has to wear a corset for her costume. She always complains and can’t believe women used to dress like that.
• Reiner’s actor, who actually has a degree in history, has, in more than one accession, pointed out the degree of inaccuracies on the show.
• Saerys’ actor hates wearing his wig because it’s itchy but does like the cool tattoos and jokes that he might get real ones soon so that he doesn’t have to come in early every morning to have them sketched on him.
• Iseul’s actor probably has an active social media account where he takes photos of his elf ears and other costume bits. He really likes the scar they gave him because it makes him look really rugged and handsome.
• MC’s actress once joked on a livestream that the reason everyone got a glo up but her and Alain is because the studio ran out of money. “Saerys and Iseul’s hair extensions cost too much.”
• The director let the actors come up with their character’s Chicago names but only August’s actor picked a good name out because “they’re supposed to sound different, damn it!”
• And there has been at least one “battle” offcamera where the actors play-fought using the fake wobbly swords with each other.
