Hot take but canes are not a limited resource. Most mobility aids aren’t but canes especially. Canes are $20 at a lot of stores like CVS, Walmart, etc. You aren’t taking that resource away from “real” disabled people (hint: you ARE a real disabled person) in fact buying more canes creates more demand and works to make more stores carry them for better prices. You aren’t faking being disabled or hurting disabled people, you’re working to make canes more accessible which is helping disabled people.

We have been keeping track of our leg pain for a while now
and feel like we need at least a cane for most days to help
but on days when its really bad forearm crutches would probably also be really good
but that's not super often when its super bad like that
but we are anxious and kinda scared about telling our parents
bc like they'll probably think we're either faking or its 'not actually that bad' or they are just like 'yeah sure' but straight up forget
most likely the last one tbh with a little bit of annoyed mixed in because oh no the problem child has another thing to worry bout
and by problem child we mean we have lots of mental illnesses and other shit so yay
but also hhhhhh stop being toxic
doesn't help that there's several inche o snow on the ground and lots of people are idiots when driving with snow/ice/whatever
even when most main roads are plowed/salted
(side note: our parents actually know how to drive in snow they grew up in an area where it snowed alot)
but locals can be idiots and drive SO GODDAMN SLOW SOMETIMES (have stories we heard from friends we might tell at somepoint)
yeah anyways we should probably just ask if we can go for a walk or smth (cause snows not THAT deep and legs are doing decent rn)
and yoink some money whether with or without permission and just buy a fkin cane at the closest cvs or smth
and then comes back and be like 'oh yeah we found money in our wallet and decided to buy smth to help us
and they'll be something like 'wtf ok whatever great' and maybe question where we got the money but w/e [shrug emoji]
