sam and hannah had just started clearing off the vines and those two materialized like a fucking leprechaun.

What made the egglore so inclusive to every cc in dsmp is that it doesn't rely on pre-established relationships
Characters don't have to be canonicaly associated with anyone in the badlands to join the lore, they could just plant the red vines THEN BOOM LORE MODE ACTIVATED
Antfrost has been a character that has followed Bad since the very beginning. We know they have a past together considering the manhunts are part of the lore now, with many callbacks to it. He’s also one of the reasons The Badlands have formed. Awesamdude and Bad protected Ant from Schlatt and Ponk who were set on killing cats at that time. We’ve seen the badlands being a tight-knit family, being on trips to help Ant with his animal sanctuary, having fun with each other and discussing plans for their own faction. They very clearly love each other by the fact that Sam has been given a lot of chances to love the egg before being forced into it. How is this relevant? Well inspecting past interactions could help us figure out why Ant is infected by the egg. Clearly as seen in Sam’s recent stream that every person has a desire the egg controls with the promise of giving it. With Ant’s case, we dont know why he stayed with the egg. From what I’ve seen, Ant has always been protected and loved by all the members of the badlands. In recent streams we see them grow a part bit by bit through Sam having to build the prison alone, and Bad being infected with the egg. Ant was placed in a middle ground of not knowing what to do. He couldnt possibly help Sam with the prison, leaving him to only be with Bad all the time. This time spent with Bad is also used to spend time with the egg as Bad was the only follower at the time. This explains how he might have been infected with the egg, through Bad’s influence. But why stay with Bad’s side? We can clearly see how close Ant is with Bad at all times. Maybe Ant just didnt want to be alone. Maybe the egg promised Ant company? Promised him love and attention from the eggpire.

Foolish pointing out it’s easy to hate people, but that’s what the Egg wants
Foolish saying Bad, Ant and Ponk aren’t at fault, that they’re being controlled, they’re just puppets right now
Foolish focusing his anger on the Egg rather, always mentioning it instead of the people that it’s using, saying that it is what attacked him or doesn’t like him, saying it’s the reason why they turned on him
Just Foolish acknowledging the mind control and not holding it against them because he understands deep down they’re not acting on their own will

I thought what Foolish said in the lore today was really interesting. He's not going to blame Bad, Ant, and Ponk for the terrible things they are doing due to their possession.
This is such a different reaction than everyone else has. Everyone else is always like "Oh no I thought they were my friends! They betrayed me!" but like they are fully under the egg's control. They have no autonomy.
It's an interesting message about blame and control. I'm probably not going to do a great job of wording my feelings, but I quite like this take, and I'm really excited for more Foolish lore in the future.
Corrupted!Bad slowly turning his head to look EXACTLY where Tubbo and Ranboo are hiding is HORRIFYING, how does he always know???
It's really sweet how despite everything c! Sam and c!Bad still legitimately cares about the Badlands.
In some ways they still tried to integrate it in their plans for the later future. With Bad trying to recruit Puffy and Punz into the Badlands instead of creating another faction (which failed hence the foundation of the eggpire) and Sam assigning fellow badlands members as the guards of the prison as he promised.
There's also the trust c!Bad and c!Ant sometimes have to c!Sam that immediately gets shut down vise versa.
Like at times Bad and Ant are expecting Sam to be on board with their server domination plan because they expect Sam to be with them through thick and thin. Sam also does this since in his plans he still intetgrates Bad and Ant in it only for them to reject it in favor of the egg.
In conclusion please end the egglore I beg you imiss pre-egg Badlands and their wholesomeness the angst is too painful T-T ejbridbsjs

chapter 1: it’s sad to know that we are not alone in this.

punz is the first to come back after the egg is destroyed.
it makes sense; after all, he’s the least connected, the least influenced. he only ever existed on the outskirts of the faction, still the most in control of himself of everyone.
it only takes a few days for him to recover, the red receding bit after bit from his eyes. he spends most of those days sleeping, only waking every few hours to stare at the wall. he tells sam his head feels buzzy, like his thoughts are all out of order, and all sam can do is rub his shoulder and encourage him to go back to sleep.
it’s on the fourth or fifth day he starts to regain any sort of energy, tells puffy a little about what it was like to be under the egg’s influence. he’s allergic to any sort of vulnerability, but no one can deny the way his hands shake, and puffy holds them with her own.
the last of the red bleeds through his tears.

it takes around two weeks for ant to make any sort of semblance of consciousness. he blinks his cat pupils open on the final day, stares sam in the face, and starts to cry. his eyes are still purple-tinted, but sam can’t care less as he envelopes his friend in a hug. ant is mumbling something that sounds like ‘i’m sorry’ over and over and over again, and sam shushes him, runs a hand along the fur on his head in a calming gesture from when they were kids.
they stay there for a long time. whenever sam tries to pull away, ant hooks his claws in sam’s armor and doesn’t let him leave.
sam doesn’t say anything about it, just obliges.

it’s a hard and long process, apologizing. punz and ponk speak in quiet, mumbling voices, and no one dares interrupt them. ant begins with puffy, sitting next to her on the beds they set up, and he recounts the story to her.

All these nations and factions falling apart but I swear if anything happens to The Badlands I will summon all the gods of minecraft to burn the whole Dream SMP to fucking smithereens.

A lot of people’s crit towards the smp’s plot is valid ones- but honestly, I noticed a lot of people’s complaints boil down to just not watching the eggpire lore at all, which address and quite frankly solve most of not all the complaints on this list.
Give the eggpire a chance. It may just surprise you.
Something that still makes me giggle every day is like,,, the way in which sam really went “my professional and my private life are seperate” and made two of the eggpire (bad and ant) guards for the prison while he’s also fighting against the eggpire when he’s not guarding said prison shhfhc
The Eggpire, and why they are the coolest villain group in the SMP
The Eggpire is personally one of my favorite groups of people on the entire smp. The Eggpire I’m currently referring to consists of Ponk, Bad, Antfrost, Punz, and Skeppy. They’re the ones who are clearly working for the Crimson, and are generally percieved by others in the SMP as corrupted.
Part of why I love them so much is their clear alignment. They are perhaps the most obvious ‘villains’ in the current season. There’s no moral greyness with them, only the tragedy of the consumed as they serve their master. They’re predictable, and you can tell others view them as a threat. Don’t break the vines, don’t disrespect the egg, avoid them at all cost.
The Eggpire is also currently winning in the “group” part of “group dynamic”. There are other alliances on the SMP, but it has been a while since one solid group of people were working together to defend or protect something. Even in the Doomsday War the defenders of L’Manburg were conflicted–Niki burned the tree herself, Eret was working with people who he had betrayed once before, Punz was an active spy. The Eggpire has a solid foundation of people working together, and their internal workings are interesting. Every member has their own specific role.
Badboyhalo, the Corrupter
Bad, despite what he says about there being no hierarchy within the Eggpire, calls all the shots. He is the largest threat and the start of the Crimson’s spread. He found the Egg, brought others to it, protected it when the vines first began to surface. He takes the most active role in the corruption of others and trying to further the Eggpire’s goals. He’s one of the main three fighters in the Eggpire, and the other two tend to follow his lead and let him speak.
Bad being a demonic creature himself adds an extra layer of awesome to his character. While he was uncorrupted his soul jar (Skeppy) was taken by the Egg, and the…bathwater stream happened. That was a hot mess, HOWEVER, afterwards it actually became kind of cool. Bad saying that “no matter what he could do, he couldn’t fix Skeppy”, implies that his character is in fact capable of magic and was trying, over and over, to return his best friend to who he was originally and kept messing up. Only after his actions failed did he willingly corrupt himself and become the main villain of the Egg arc.
Antfrost, the Caretaker
Antfrost…I absolutely adore corrupted!Antfrost. He was the first person, after Bad, to become attached to the Egg. He was ruthless before he was turned–he even suggested killing Skeppy in order to remove the corruption from him. Now he’s actively serving an eldrich abomination. He follows Bad around silently and writes messages to people in languages they can’t understand. He’s a “professional hunter” (that scene gave me chills) and Bad’s righthand man.
Before the Crimson Antfrost ran an animal sanctuary. He’s still keeping an eye on the animals, but now most of his attention seems to have transferred to the Egg. He seems to have the most active affection for the egg, making sure to feed it and even kissing it once. The aesthetic of a chaotic evil catboy in a nice suit who has no moral compass but does have an undeniable fondness for the Bloodvines growing everywhere is just… *chefs kiss*
Punz, the Guard
Punz, as a character is very well done. He’s been one of the most chill on the server for a while, only actively involving himself in conflicts when A) one of his pets has died, or B) Dream told him to. He’s loyal; once he has a directive he will accomplish it. Dream himself knew if he hired Punz to guard L’Manburg, Punz would guard L’Manburg and kill anyone who left the walls for as long as Dream wanted him to.
Now Punz is guarding the Egg itself. He isn’t as actively threatening as Bad and Ant–he was able to have a completely normal conversation with Tommy, for example, while Tommy is actively terrified of Bad and Ant. Punz is only a danger when he’s called to be, otherwise he’s just a chill guy who doesn’t seem concerned that he has red eyes, or that the thing he’s working for is actively spreading across the entire server.
Ponk, the Voice
Ponk spent a lot of time around the Egg. He even planted a seed in his own casino, named it, and yet managed to turn it into something else. He was left on top of it for days, and came out completely unscathed. He originally began working with the Eggpire purely for pain au’ chocolate and bought contacts from Amazon in order to blend in with them. He doesn’t give a shit.
Correction: he didn’t give a shit until his boyfriend cheated on him. Ponk got corrupted purely out of spite and facilitated the beginning of a war between the Egg and the server’s local builder god. He’s a semi-psychic amputee and the caretaker of a graveyard. He has the most unique interaction with the Egg.
Skeppy, the Heart
Skeppy is Badboyhalo’s living soul jar and probably the most wholly corrupted in the entire server. He spent an entire day inside the Egg and came out with no desires except for it. We’ve seen him the least out of every Eggpire member, but he’s had the most effect on the plot. He’s the Crimson’s leverage over Badboyhalo. If being logged out means a character is canonically asleep, then Skeppy has been sleeping for months. Practically in a coma, until the Egg needs him.
cc!Skeppy says that they have more planned for his character, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing what will happen when the Egg decides it needs him. He was probably the weakest Eggpire member, but who knows what he’s capable of now?
The Crimson Itself:
The Crimson is a problem you can’t get rid of. The bloodvines spread without anyone being near them; they grow back as soon as they’ve been cut. Just hurting the Egg can kill you, although they retconned Sam’s death due to Crimson damage. To quote Badboyhalo: “If you break the Egg, it bites you back.”
The absolute coolest thing about the entire Egg arc, in my opinion, is how hard it is to keep an eye on the big picture. We as viewers get wrapped up in what’s happening right now. Hannah was trapped in the Egg, now she’s escaped. There were vines in Sam’s base, now they were broken. The Eggpire attacked Foolish’s base, then he scared them away. Then you pull back and remember, it is just a an egg. We have no idea what its plans are, or what it’s capable of. Someday comes the Red Banquet, and that’s when the real storm breaks.
