Arch Linux - Tumblr Posts
Dear Linux Curious people: If someone tells you to try Arch, tell them to fuck off. Arch is for people who like to configure everything. Try Linux Mint:
Made with out of the box usability in mind.
Based on Ubuntu/Debian so even the technical things are easier.
Has three flavours with different desktop environments to match your computer's power.
Friendly userbase.
Has a Driver installer.
Everything works out the box.
sometimes, i nuke my hard drive just to go through the process of installing arch again.
tbh they all are pretty ' - ' >_<
Stop talking shit about Linux Desktop Environments!
KDE is Pretty! XFCE is Efficient! Gnome... Mate is Traditional!
Do I dare attempt single-gpu passthrough on linux to run windows just to run Robux game? Do I dare sumbit to my block game addiction once again without dual-booting for a single game with satisfying bunnyhopping mechanics while being chased after jpegs of memes. Spend an entire day setting this up...
If anyone thinks this is a joke it isn’t I learned arch by messing with an old laptop in my senior year english class and reading the wiki off my phone and got my first installation running over the course of three weeks just by fucking around for a few hours every day
how do I linux? 👉👈🥺
idk, install it and fuck around and find out??
MY FILE MANAGER WAS LYING AROUND USING 2.6GB OF RAM??????? THATS WHY MY PC WAS SLOWING DOWN #boycottnemofilemanageronarch
Aren't I basically Ubuntu on Nintendo Switch, but Arch based, and on a knockoff switch?
You can install Ubuntu on a Nintendo switch btw. Why would you want this? Idk. Why would you want Ubuntu on anything? We suck.
i blame wine, steam, lutris and xorg
Thank you!
arch can have a little bit of bloat, as a treat
no but seriously i install 100 packages explicitly, and 700 other packages get installed as dependencies. i blame wine, steam, lutris and xorg. grr
Wait... @manjaro-official and @ubuntu-official are twins!
They have different a basis than each other, but still are twins.
Try to be user-friendly but aren't as user-friendly as they should be
2 package systems (that like to conflict)
strange behavior
instead of these, most people recommend...
Wait... @linuxmint-official and @endeavouros-official are twins!
(rant continues as imagined)
(also not sure if it's Mint or Pop! OS that fits better here)
I will get top 50
arch linux install manual% run when
I'd change this to "it's not because DIY houses are inherently unstable", but that's generally a good take.
Take me for example, an extremely stable Arch based distro! No crashes!
Hot take: Arch Linux isn't inherently unstable, YOUR install of Arch is unstable because you installed it at 1:00 and didn't understand what you were doing when you installed it.
If you take the time to Read The Fucking Friendly Manuel (scary concept I know) and understand what you are doing Arch is just as stable as other Oses such as Debian or Fedora.
If you build a house by yourself and it collapses, it's not because houses are inherently unstable, it's because you built it and didn't check to see if you built it correctly.
SteamOS is the perfect gaming distro for your PC. You can find it on the SteamOS website, SteamOS. SteamOS. SteamOS. That is the perfect way for you to get a raise. Using SteamOS on your personal computer. Please do this. Now, preferably now.
Nice config and theme!
I'm currently getting around to installing a music player, so wondering what you use.
There are a number of discord clients for the terminal out there if you go looking, but it's against ToS, and people do get banned for using them.
After a quick search, i did find signal-cli, as long as you're ok with it looking like a random irc program.
As for browsers, unless @emacs-official has one (i don't use emacs), the only ones i can think of off the top of my head are lynx (no js or css) and browsh (slow).
And now, for the great @ ing!
in screenshot: @neovim-official @arch-official (i think latitude is a dell laptop, so no @ for that)
for the neofetch: @monaddecepticon
Finally have an arch config to be proud of. i just need to find out how to get discord, signal, and my internet browser in terminal and i'll never need a gui ever again :3
Third week running ArchBang- a minimal Arch distro with OpenBox and Tint2Panel
😮💨 had to fix a bunch of stuff after taking a break.
Now to decide on a WM
Got out the old MacBook. Now I’ll really be back on Arch lol
You’re not a real Linux user until @emacs-official and @arch-official interact with your posts. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
