Aren't I basically Ubuntu on Nintendo Switch, but Arch based, and on a knockoff switch?
You can install Ubuntu on a Nintendo switch btw. Why would you want this? Idk. Why would you want Ubuntu on anything? We suck.

Instead of using butter for your grilled cheese, you should switch to linux. You can set up a virtual machine to try out various distros to see which ones work best for your needs
Linux sounds so much better than Linuwayland.

i think this means that steamos can be considered trans
not in the sense of gender, but in the sense of distro base
and i find it funny that one of the few distro blogs that isn't run by a trans person.. JUST SO HAPPENS to be trans in another way

No, don't do that. SteamOS is not a personal computer OS, but one to be preinstalled on whatever hardware you buy from Valve.

Seriously though, I'm sick and tired of windows and want to get some practice with linux on my laptop before the win 10 EOL arrives and I need to migrate my gaming gaming PC to a linux based OS.
What would you recommend?
Give @steamos-official a try! Sorry for taking so long to respond. I've heard it's much better as a daily driver then it used to be, especially for those things we call "gamers".
I think it's just because the world couldn't handle if I came out to the public (not just tumblr) as transbasis
GPUs are probably a big factor, but i suppose that it's also because they have hacked together and hardcoded some stuff with the interface that normal PCs just don't have.
It's probably a bit unstable too, considering it's @arch-official based and all.
i wonder if the main thing stopping valve from releasing steamos 3 for general use is that they want it to work on nvidia hardware as well and that's just like not possible right now.
bazzite exists and gives you the steamos 3 experience with more, holoiso and chimera exist too and all of these work perfectly on amd gpus but nvidia cards are straight up unsupported*
*bazzite runs on nvidia cards but specifically with the desktop-only images. game mode, which is what gives you the steam deck experience is not available for nvidia cards.

Long story short, the current version you can download online is Debian based
The one on the steam deck is arch based
The steam deck version is more recent

popos is great as a Debian based distro!
If I'm recommending anything, I usually go with mint for normies/beginers, Debian for advanced users, and pop! for the friend with the nvidia gpu

what @debian-official based distro should i use? my computer decided to fuck itself and it deleted the os so i am gonna install a new os on it
