i wonder if there was a change in reid's behaviour towards her between 2x18 and this episode because obv hes been hostile towards her since 2x15 but she seems comfortable with him here and emily doesnt strike me as the kind of person to actually be trying to insult him here especially because if she was she would have before you feel me? her roasting him signifies a positive change in their relationship LMAO emily prentiss spencer reid emily & reid not fic criminal minds criminal minds rewatch criminal minds s02e19 ashes & dust also the subtitles are correct reid DOES say statistically i just cut that part because a different subtitle was onscreen while he said it criminal minds 2x19

Indoors, a woman in white medical scrubs tilts her head up, eyes wet, clearly trying not to cry. The subtitle at the bottom of the image reads: "They're just outside in the waiting room."

I don't recall if hotch's religious beliefs are ever discussed, but ive always gotten the sense that he was. probably catholic?

anyway. i wonder if, from his perspective, he wasn't lying here.

(for a refresher: this is 2x19, ashes & dust. they're speaking to a woman who was in a fire with her husband and son, of which she was the only survivor. she is unaware her husband and son are gone, and hotch and emily have been informed that "whatever they say, she won't live long enough to know the difference.")

i think it's interesting that reid looks at gideon specifically right after this line. maybe it's just that he feels gideon looking at him. maybe its just that they're close. or maybe he looks towards gideon because it hurts particularly badly that gideon didnt help :(
