Friend mentioned watching the fallout show and loving it but followed it up by saying she hated Maximus, to which another friend agreed. He was, as she put it, “a weasel who would stab anyone in the back to get what he wants” and when I asked what he’s done that supported this she stated his panicked lying (honestly fair but I’m of the opinion being truthful from the start would have been bad for him or at least it would seem like it to Maximus all things considered), that he didn’t give Thaddeus enough time to process things before attacking him, (fucking bonkers, that little shit stops being friendly the second he finds out it’s not Titus in the suit and is clearly not going to side with Maximus and even agrees with Maximus that killing him would have been better for him.) and finally that ‘he’s only nice to Lucy because he wants to fuck her’, which absolutely floors me.
Throughout the show we see Maximus trying to be the hero he thinks the brotherhood should be and any of his faults and misdeeds serve that purpose, stealing the armor and being reluctant to return the power core, he is self serving in his desire to be the one being the hero but there is an attempt to do good.
The only exception to this is him being a dick to Thaddeus at first, it shows a vengeful and cruel streak to him but it’s considerably small considering this is the man who started his daily beatings. And I suspect my friend doesn’t hold this against Maximus because she doesn’t bring it up. So it makes me feel like the ‘only nice to Lucy for sec’ take is in bad faith, because he’s been nice to other people when he’s been in the situation to do so and was nice to her when he thought they would be on their separate ways afterwards. Lucy’s the first person who’s been upfront with her intentions with Maximus and has shown him genuine affection where others have only buddied up to his station and it feels like such a shit move to use the feeling he develops because of that to make him out to be an asshole.
Also feel like him going back to the brotherhood to give Lucy a chance of getting away shows he’s not a backing stabbing type because he’s literally giving up what he wants in the moment after going through everything.
I don’t know, I came away from the show considering Maximus a good person who has to unlearn a lot of toxic shit from the brotherhood of steel. What are people’s thoughts? Am I misreading Maximus or is this a bad take from my friend.
The worst take I've ever seen was someone saying that Cyn from Murder Drones would lose to a fucking T-1000 from the Terminator series.

Let us not forget the amount of charcaters who are far as we know straight due to their backfires.
Aka most the queens. Most have had children and had a mate at some point. Coral and Scarlet had husband's. Thorn is shipped with Smolder when she isnt shipped with Stonemover. Smolder canonically had a girl friend before had but Oasis made them break up. Oasis didn't pop 3 daughters and 2 sons out of nowhere.
Not to mention how much romance, mostly straight is prevalent within specific characters stories. Perils crush on Clay, starflights crush on Sunny, tusnami and Glorys sepreate cool bois they dont offically get with, Moons love triangle. Turtles crush on Kinkajou.
Then looking at the winglets we get more of Arctic and Foeslayers romance. Legends of Darkstalkers main premise is love(in some ways)! All the main pov charcaters are in straight relationships! Clearsight gets with a *male* beetlewing! Fathom is so head over heals in love with Indigo his sister tries to keep them separated to keep him from using magic.
Also I'm pretty sure of the couple of queer ships mentions I thought only 3 of those were offical Canon. If that dosent show how the lgbt+ characters and relationships aren't being "forced" idk what does.
I really wish this blog would say something against these weird comments or just not post what I feels obvious rage bait
Most of the lgbtq relationships in wof seem forced, or squished into the plot as a last resort to have some diversity in there.
And there aren't as many straight relationships as people think.

Aw geez 😞 well I guess I could. But as an animal science nerd, I can’t help but feel upset bout that one too. Dodo birds weren’t actually lacking in intelligence or anything, they were just exploited by colonists due to not having any natural predators on the island they evolved on. They were also paraded around by nobility as commodities and joked about based off their appearance. Maybe I could use ‘donut’?? Then I can feel more British haha

Hi! No problem! It’s not rude at all; in fact, we appreciate you asking. We are also Autistic (all three of us mods here are! :) and so we like clear explanations too!
Basically, it started out as a term for people with intellectual disability. Articles talking about exactly how it originated get a bit esoteric - I (Mod X) may try to write a post about it if I have time - but here’s an overview!
