BENCAB MUSEUM
This moment’s worth all the spazz in the world having the chance to finally meet and interact with one of the renowned National Artist of the Philippines, BenCab.
A man who’s as expressive by means of art strongly deserves the respect and salute. The great ones who influence others how to think thoroughly must be introduced again and again to the masses. Because, this is what we lack, we lack having to love what is worth-loving and we ignore all things worthy of understanding.
Our country needs art. For art preserves history. Art alone is a gentle reminder to view all things differently.
“Brush ba o gitara?”
I remember a few months back I blogged about this healthy confusion. Although, just this month I am able to do both at the same time, literally. Which brought an incredible fulfillment, ladies and gents.
• LEGACY
I got an invite from my colleagues if I’m ok with the idea of joining their group exhibit in Baguio. Frankly, I had doubts bc it’s my first and I haven’t had the guts to put myself or my works out there (in terms of art & music) in a serious manner. Yet again, I knew I had to this time just for the heck of being able to achieve something I can proudly look back on to.
It took me almost a month to finish all three paintings and it’s currently exhibited inside Baguio Museum ‘til the end of this month. (Not sure yet tho, heard that it’s going to be relocated in a new gallery wc is good) It’s on sale btw and once sold, 10% of it will be donated directly to an orphanage in the vicinity.
• STORY?
I don’t want to state what’s the meaning of my works. I kind of like the idea wherein people would create stories inside their head while looking, understand it by themselves or be enchanted by the combination of its color alone since mine has a touch of surrealism. It’s all about the impact anyway and you can’t force that on people, you let them feel things silently. Anyway, since t'was a challenge for me to do both but I took it anyway so I wrote a song in each painting according to my given title which I’d prolly post next? And yep, I deliberately had to put myself on the right zone everytime I was holding my paintbrush and what’s on my painting is how I felt alone. Most likely, it’s all captured thoughts on canvas.
• MUSIC?
I got to sing during the opening! I sang the national anthem (!!!!!!!) which brought me anxiety more than any cover I’ve ever done??? Hah, but it went fine I guess. Then, I sang Sampaguita’s song “Tao” that according to most audience that day, it was heartfelt. That song always moves me in a different level honestly, it’s one of my faves. Anyhow, cheers to more of art exposures and extra music gigs. This is not the end, I hope.
