If you're new here, this is one of those "human Bill in the Mystery Shack" redemption fics, you know the drill: Bill illegally escapes death via reincarnation; the Shack crew imprisons him til they can figure out how to kill him; but they won't, because Bill's gonna make friends with them and literally everybody else in town. Whether they like it or not.
Featuring!! The slowest redemption arc you've ever read; "human" Bill that doesn't decide being trapped in an alien body is fine; show-style episodic plot structure; individual plot arcs for characters you've never even cared about; so canon compatible we even include the dang coloring book; and so TBOB-compatible over a year before TBOB came out that I'm considering taking up a position as the Oracle of Delphi just so Apollo stops barraging me with dodgeballs.

I absolutely LOVE the Bill Goldilocks Cipher AU. (AU by @ckret2) I love it to bits. I think that its important everyone knows WHY I love it so much so more after the cut
I have recently gotten into reading the Bill “Goldilocks” Cipher AU, and I’m absolutely in love. (As an important note, I am on chapter 45) Not just because of the characterization and how it feels like how all the characters would act and adventures that could happen in the show, but also because specifically what Bill looks like. And I WILL INFODUMP!
Bill, for context, is stuck in this body. it’s not something he’s possessing, it’s his own body, but it was made by a computer. He created it instantaneously to escape the Theraprism (in an INCREDIBLE one shot I suggest fans of the Book of Bill read)
But then he got stuck. He couldn’t leave it, his soul was essentially stitched to the body with no powers and no way to escape. And he hates it. Bills body doesn’t look like him, not because it’s a woman, because it’s a human, and he wishes he was still a 2D triangle. The FACT that it’s a woman, the fact that it doesn’t match up with what we the audience imagine Bill would look like, let’s us imagine some of that “this isn’t right” dysphoria that is so essential to the story and Bill’s characterization. Of course we would imagine Bill to be a man, but he isn’t here. When he says he hates how his body curves and moves, we think, “oh, he means cause he’s a woman” NAW HE JUST WANTS TO BE 2D! It’s BRILLIANT!
But that’s not all!
Bills entire reason for escape is because he doesn’t want to stop being himself. He doesn’t want the prison to take away his memories or make him “perfect”, he just wants to be him and he’ll do anything to stay himself. He wants to be free.
and then when he escapes to try to stay himself forever, to “freedom”, he’s immediately trapped again. He’s trapped inside Gravity Falls, he’s trapped with the Pines, but worse; he’s trapped in a foreign body. He isn’t himself. The thing he wanted most cost him what he was fighting for to begin with.
This AU is so beautiful. It’s amazing. I adore it. And Author, if you’re reading this, your work has brought me many days of brainrot and joy.
Also, importantly, I haven’t read through the authors blog, so there’s a chance that they just think Bill should be a woman and that’s just what he would look like humanized, and there’s nothing deeper than that and I’ve made a fool of myself. If that’s the case, and the whole “the audience understands the dysphoria” part isn’t correct, I apologize, but if that is what you were going for, you did it perfectly and please never stop writing because it inspires me.

Mabel finally got that little brother she always wanted
Abuelita fanmail time! The instant Abuelita showed up and tried to poison Bill I was like, "this is the most moral person in the fic hands down." Not that I agree with her, but she was confident she knew what was right and then she did it, and when it didn't work, she moved on and continued to chat and be nice to the guy who just survived her murder attempt. No trolley problems or second guesses. Latest chapters are making it way more clear that she has it going on more than anyone else.
If you did stick Abuelita in a trolley problem she'd pull the lever or leave it the instant you finished explaining the scenario to her and she wouldn't regret her choice later. She's old, she's had time to figure out exactly where she stands, she's confident.
what's the origin of the idea of journal 2 having independent personhood? i've never considered the idea of it being alive or something before and that's a very compelling thought, especially considering what we know of its contents

tl;dr: we were talking about Care Bears, brought up the movie with an evil talking grimoire, and went "hey one of the journals should do that."
Some of the sigil-based spells Ford wrote in the book accidentally interacted in such a way as to give it life.
I was trying to imagine a axolotl looking scared and the only picture I could come up with was that one image of tails from tails gets trolled but that's more horror and vague disgust

Those were doodles at 3am while I was listening to "Dirty Dudes Must Die" of the musical Nerdy Prudes Must Die ANDDDDD my mind just start making scenarios out of that yeah
It's the one who sings the song, a girl called Grace AND JSUT THE WAYYY she sings in such a deranged and unhinged way that with the mixed creepy lighting and her facial expression makes her seem like a psycho and it reminds me a lot of Bill in your story and just felt right idk if you had heard this song but I'd like to hear your opinion !
