HE WANNA GO HOME

Some pencil sketches of Bill Cipher, first standing in front of Dipper and Mabel Pines and shielding them both with outstretched arms as they all scream in terror at something. In the other sketch, he's playing laser tag with Mabel. Robbie is cowering behind a small ledge, but Bill has spotted him and is standing over him with his gun. He looks gleefully violent, with fire in his eyes, like he's taking this game way too seriously. Mabel stands behind him and is cheering him on.

Another set of sketches, first of Mabel and Bill in homemade fantasy costumes, acting out a battle scene. The second sketch is the two of them sitting on a blanket surrounded by snack wrappers, popcorn and soda cans, watching a terrible movie; Mabel's laughing so hard she's leaning against Bill and tearing up, and Bill's pointing a hand at the screen as if he's yelling loudly about how stupid the movie is, while it's clear he's laughing too. The last sketch is a small drawing of Bill sitting next to Mabel as she sleeps on the couch, patting her on the head.

A sketch of Mabel sitting with Bill on the roof and holding his hand as he tearfully talks about his home dimension. He has speech bubbles with images of his childhood: silhouettes of his family, silly straws, sneakers, sandwiches with the crusts cut off. The largest bubble shows a tiny Bill stargazing with his parents. It appears to be cracking like glass, to signify his voice breaking. Mabel's watching him with sympathy and carefully holding the last piece of his dimension that he showed Ford in TBOB.

Mabel hugs Bill, and he grips her sweater tightly in his fists and sobs as he leans against her. In a wavery, broken speech bubble, he says "I wanna go home".

I think the way I’m gonna reconcile this fic with The Book of Bill is to say that it’s an alternate timeline where instead of sending Bill to the Theraprism, the Axolotl just took his powers away and orchestrated things so he’d end up with Mabel as his cosmically assigned Therapy Human. Like those cheetahs in zoos that get paired up with emotional support puppies so they don’t go insane and die from stress.

A colored digital sketch comic of Mabel Pines and Bill Cipher sitting on the couch in the Mystery Shack living room while Mabel plays a video game. An arrow pointing to the TV out of frame says "Died to a funny video game glitch". Mabel, who's wearing a purple pajama shirt with a floppy disk on the front, reacts to this by throwing out her arms and yelling "What?! Why?? Whyyy?!?" Bill wheezes loudly, tearing up from laughing so hard.

Mabel tries to hold back a smile as Bill, still in tears and turning red from laughter, makes a sound like a sheet of metal going through a wood chipper. He's laughing so hard it doesn't sound like a noise a living creature could make.

Mabel bursts out laughing too, as Bill, also still laughing, shouts in bewilderment, "I've never made that noise before! What WAS that?!"

Bill’s been around like 10 times longer than this universe has. But he’s never had a best friend to goof around and play terrible video games with, so some experiences are still new to him.

A rough sketch comic about Bill Cipher possessing Dipper's body during Sock Opera. Bipper walks along while looking over his shoulder, saying "Alright, I can see the journal from here. Just gotta get up there without running into anybody--" Then there's an impact bubble reading "Wham!" after which Bipper is shown sitting on the floor dazed with his head hanging. Mabel, who just ran into him, is kneeling in front of him, looking concerned and yelling "Dipper oh my gosh I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking, my cue's in like three minutes… are you okay?"

Bipper quickly stands up, sweating and smiling tensely, and says "Uh-- yep! Yeah, I'm fine, nothing to worry about okay bye!!!" Mabel grabs his arm and says "Wait, hold on! I wanted to say something real quick." Bipper, grinning awkwardly, says "I, uh, I've actually gotta be somewhere! And you're super busy with the play, right?" Mabel, looking upset, holds out her hands and shouts "Yeah, but the play's not all that matters to me! This is important too! Like, really important!"

Mabel beseechingly says "Please? Just real quick?" Bipper grimaces with a hand on his forehead and yells "Okay okay just hurry alright??" Mabel looks down bashfully, saying "I just wanna say thank you. For helping me out so much with this whole crazy thing. And… I'm sorry I haven't been helping YOU out." Bipper looks away in irritation, as Mabel continues: "I know the laptop's really important. And this is, uh… not. And I know I've been doing, like, nothing but this for a week…" Bipper then looks at Mabel with a bit of mild concern as she keeps talking offscreen: "Just, I know it's been annoying. But thanks for bearing with me anyway. After this, I'll help you with the actual important stuff."

Bipper puts out his hands to cut her off and says "Okay, stop. Listen, Sh- sister-- just because the play's not part of the big mystery or whatever doesn't mean it's not important. If it's important to YOU, then it's important, okay? Don't apologize for having fun." Then he shrugs, holding back a laugh, and says "I mean-- heh! It's not like the laptop's going anywhere, right? I think it's been good for me to take a little break from being so boring and do something fun like this!" Mabel pumps her fists in the air victoriously and cheers "Yes!! I knew you'd have fun if you gave it a chance!" Bipper smiles and says "Oh, I'm having a blast. Trust me."

Mabel holds out her arms and says "Thanks, bro-bro. Awkward sibling hug?" Bipper looks nervous, with an arrow pointing to him that says "hasn't hugged in 50 billion years". He says "Oh- uh-- maybe we should both get back to--" Mabel then cuts him off by hugging him, much to his shock.

Bipper stands there frozen in shock as Mabel hugs him. Many billions of years of touch starvation are hitting him all at once, and he's completely overwhelmed. Eventually, the sensory overload fades and is replaced by an unmanageable wave of emotion. He starts tearing up as he slowly hugs Mabel back.

Mabel snaps Bipper out of his stupor by patting him twice on the back and saying "Pat. Pat."

Music and cheering sounds from up ahead on the stage, and Mabel abruptly pushes Bipper away, anxiously shouting "Oh shoot that's my cue, I gotta go right now!!"

Mabel runs off, saying "Okay see you later Dipper, love you! Bye!" Bipper looks after her with big, wobbly, shiny eyes, like he's fighting the urge to tell her to come back. Once she's gone, he looks down at his hands, shivering like he's suddenly cold. He slowly wraps his arms around himself and bows his head, hugging himself while standing alone backstage.

Bipper wipes his face and takes a big, deep breath to try and pull himself together. Then he turns and stalks off through the backstage, muttering "Whatever."

just a little fic in comic form i guess, about an alternate way they could have ruined Bill’s day in Sock Opera.

i imagine Bill is CRAZY touch-starved. a trillion years without a physical form has gotta mess a guy up. he’s always shoving people around and shaking hands and leaning on shoulders and stuff, but he doesn’t actually feel anything when he does it. possessing living bodies gives him a semblance of physical sensation, but it’s still just a shadow of the real thing.

also, i think Mabel gives, just, the best hugs in the universe.

I wanted to share the official playlist I made for this fic! I always make playlists for stories of mine, but I honestly really like this one and wanted to share it. I went way overboard on the cover, but it was still fun. I’ll probably reuse it when I post the first chapter of the fic, which I’m hoping will happen in the next couple weeks!
