Only Ours

This is my most dramatic, angst-filled and emotional one shot, which means the dialogue is a little melodramatic and I’m kind of nervous about it because melodramatic stories either work or don’t, no in-between but I really wanted to try and explore turmoil and the destructive intensity of turmoil/sexual jealousy/sexual attraction. So I hope you enjoy this. P.S. Kai is a tease in this one shot, which means that, yes, you as readers will be left woefully unfulfilled if you catch my drift ;) Again, enjoy! (and because they asked to be tagged: malachaibennett let me know your thoughts!)

He didn’t need her to love him. In all honestly he preferred her hatred because it was something that was his and no one else’s. Bonnie Bennett didn’t hate. She judged and she scorned and she even despised — a cool contempt for the morally bankrupt — but the only time she hated so passionately that she seemed almost possessed by rage was when she was with him and it stirred in her a need to consume him, to conquer him, to master him.

Kai lived for that need. He was always waiting for her, waiting for when that itch she had for him grew too unbearable for her to ignore and she had to have her body against his. His days were spent reliving those moments, remembering her lips, her thighs, her screams, her bites and then he was taken over by a desperate desire to make her itch so badly it would drive her to near-madness like how everything about her — her smile, her walk, her moan — sent him into a frenzy of mixed urges. Really they were more than urges, they were … feelings; feelings that he couldn’t stop and that kept him in a state of agitation and upheaval. The nights she didn’t make her way to him were the nights he smashed and shattered and slammed anything and anyone unlucky enough to be around him. The nights she came to him were the nights he remembered and re-remembered that she didn’t soothe him or satiate him, she only fuelled him, his need for her, there was no getting his fill of her, and when she left him he would clench his hair and scream in frustration of this knowledge. It was an agonizing arrangement between them; one that compelled him to do things like watch her whenever he could, however he could, with spells, with spies, with his own eyes.

It was strange to observe her life from afar, to see her with her friends, to see her in classes, to see her drink lattes and laugh at jokes and study for exams. That he wasn’t a part of that aspect of Bonnie didn’t bother Kai because he knew she didn’t belong to that world anymore, that the Bonnie who operated in that world wasn’t real but a projection from another life, a former life that ended the moment she found herself in the nineties. College and coffeehouses and karaoke nights weren’t what she ached for, weren’t what slipped into her dreams and woke her up in the middle of the night hot and panting and yearning for more; what she did with him, what she felt when she was with him, that was. Kai knew this even if she wouldn’t admit it to him, he knew it in his gut, which made it difficult for him to explain why seeing Bonnie and Damon together elicited a fury in him that he wasn’t accustomed to.

They were sitting at a window booth in Fran’s, the local diner, sharing a sandwich. Damon was stealing her fries. She laughed and hit him playfully across the shoulder. Many times before this Kai had stood where he was standing now, halfway behind a tree, across the street from Fran’s, and watched Bonnie eat with different men. None of them had inspired jealousy. In fact he’d been amused by them all, knowing that none of them could sense much less wet Bonnie’s thirst for darkness, for carnality. Only he could do that. What was it about Damon, then, that set Kai’s teeth on edge? That made his heart thud?

Moving away from the tree to get a better view of the diner, Kai watched as Damon’s glance lingered on Bonnie. He noticed Damon’s hooded eyes and parted mouth, he studied the expression of reverence and hunger on his face — it was a look Kai recognized because he had the same expression whenever he gazed at Bonnie, he had the same expression whenever they were having sex, and seeing it on Damon’s face roused in Kai the wild urge to set everything around him on fire. Bonnie put her elbow on the table and then rested her head in her hand and she seemed to flutter her eyes a little, giving Damon a smile — Kai saw a salaciousness in the slow way she did it that made his throat tighten and he couldn’t help but wonder if Bonnie would want Damon the way she wanted him, if Damon could elicit the same furious passion in her. The thing that was theirs. And that, he realized, was why this lunch date was different from the others. The possibility that she could …

“No. That’s ours.”

Kai began to pace in quick circles, breathing heavily, feeling his heart race faster. He couldn’t look anymore. He had to look again. He put his hands on the back of his head, interlocking his fingers. He turned toward the diner window. Damon was leaning over, whispering something in Bonnie’s ear then he touched the corner of her mouth, wiping something away. Maybe ketchup. Or mayonnaise. It didn’t matter; all that Kai could focus on was Damon’s fingers on Bonnie’s lips and suddenly he could imagine everything: Damon’s hands on her waist, his lips on her chest, her nails gripping his shirt, his grin at making her gasp, her husky calls of, “Damon! Damon!” Kai let out a yell and slammed his fist against the tree. He squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head, trying to free himself of his torturous imagination. He could still hear her calling his name. Damon! Damon!

“Stop!”

He felt a violence toward Damon, a violence of unfamiliar intensity. Homicidal inclinations were nothing new to Kai; the anger associated with those urges was his state of being for a large chunk of his life but this, what he was experiencing now, it wasn’t that. He didn’t want to kill Damon. He wanted to bludgeon him, beat him, he wanted to tear him apart.

Kai picked up a fallen tree branch; it felt sturdy yet light in his hand. He headed toward the diner, his eyes fixed on Damon and Bonnie at the window. They were hugging now and Damon was rubbing his hand up and down the length of Bonnie’s back.

Damon! Damon! Damon!

Kai wanted to bodily tear the imaginary echoes from his head. He banged open the door to Fran’s with such force that the glass shattered from the frame. Everyone turned to look at the entrance, Bonnie whipped around to face him.

“Kai,” she said.

Damon’s eyes narrowed like he was about to make a calculated move but before he had the chance to react, Kai extended his free arm, muttered a spell and pinned Damon to his seat. After this, there would be no more magic, Kai just needed enough time to —

wham!

With all of his force behind the blow, Kai used the tree branch to strike Damon across the face, savouring the cracking sound of a broken jaw, the splatter of blood across the table and floor and window, the yelp of pain that tore through his mouth. Kai cleared his throat. That should be enough to shut up the echoes in his head.

Bonnie shouted. “What the hell is the matter with you?”

The spell didn’t hold Damon for more than a few seconds and he was out of his chair, a quick blur, and he slammed Kai down onto another table, a butter knife already in hand, its jagged edge a breath away from Kai’s eyeball. This was something Kai expected. He didn’t want Damon pinned for the entirety of the fight, he didn’t want to use magic either. There was something about his anger that made him want to physically destroy Damon with his own two hands, that made him want to take his time, that made him want to go up against Damon rather than manipulate him into losing. It wasn’t about playing God, it was about, it was about —

Pain. Bursting pain. Damon let go of Kai and pressed his hands to his temples, his eyes screwed and his mouth open in a yell. Kai felt his body stiffen like he had no control over it. Bonnie stood behind them, her expression fiercely focused and her hand open in front of her.

“Bonnie,” said Kai through gritted teeth.

She didn’t answer and she didn’t lower her arm until Damon was kneeling on the floor, cradling his head. As soon as the pain began, it stopped and Bonnie lunged toward Kai, grasping him by the arm and yanking him off the table, leading him toward the glassless door. He could hear Damon mumbling in the background. “Bonnie, where are you going with him? Bonnie?!”

They walked a couple of blocks until she found an alleyway between two buildings and she shoved Kai into it. “Are you completely out of your mind?” she yelled. “What the hell was that?”

Kai said nothing but sagged against the brick, his teeth clenched.

“Kai,” said Bonnie. “What the hell was that?”

He didn’t say anything. Bonnie slapped him hard across the face. His eyes flashed dangerously and he pushed off from against the wall, standing up straight.

“Does he always touch you like that?”

“What?”

“Damon,” said Kai. “Does he always touch you like that?”

“You can’t be serious. Touch me like what?”

“Like me.”

“He doesn’t touch me like you.” Bonnie paused for a moment and then mumbled as an afterthought, “No one touches me like you.”

“Exactly,” said Kai.

She narrowed her eyes. “Are you jealous?”

“Well I don’t just go around hitting people with tree branches, Bonnie, if someone annoys me I usually just kill them. Of course I’m jealous!”

She stared at him too bewildered to do anything but frantically shake her head open-mouthed. “Get over it,” she said finally. “We’re not together.”

“I don’t care. I don’t like him touching you.”

“Kai, I just said — we aren’t a couple!”

“I don’t care. That part of you is mine,” said Kai, enunciating the word ‘mine’ with a guttural intensity that made Bonnie’s eyebrows crease. She slapped him for a second time.

“Nothing about me is yours!” she screamed. “Nothing about me is anyone’s but mine. I’m not a possession to be —”

Bonnie didn’t finish her sentence. Kai grabbed her beneath her chin and she used one hand to pry his fingers from her face and the other to push him back against the wall; he reached behind her to the back of her head and tugged her hair so that he could stare her square in the eye. She glared back. They were both breathing heavily. And Kai could feel it. All of it. Feel how furious she was that he took a hold of her with such boldness, that she was thrilled by it, he could feel the longing between them and how much she resented it but how much she wanted to see where it would lead. Most of all he could feel her lack of forgiveness, her hatred of his past indiscretions but how that hatred, like always, was turning into a need to own him, to make him hers even though she would never be his. She wanted him. She hated him almost as much as she hated herself for it but she wanted him.

“Don’t tell me that this, what you’re feeling right now, don’t tell me that that’s not mine. Don’t tell me you’ve felt this way about anyone else. This belongs to me. And to you. It has to … I … I crave it, Bonnie. I—” he exhaled heavily. “It’s all I think about. This is ours. Only ours.”

Bonnie put her hand over his and lowered it from the back of her head so she could take a step back. “We don’t have anything.”

“We have this.”

“This is nothing, Kai.”

“This is enough of something to make you come back for more. Your body begs for it. I can feel it. I feel it right now.”

“It’s called sex,” said Bonnie, her voice a near-shout. “It’s just sex.”

“And you only want it from me,” said Kai, his tone matching hers.

“You’re so sure?” said Bonnie. Kai paused and clenched his jaw, his eyes unblinking and intense. “Is that why you pummelled Damon? Because you’re so sure?”

“Bonnie,” he said. It was a warning.

“What if he did touch me like you do? What if I wanted him to? What if whenever we touched even if it was just for a second, I ached and felt it everywhere. On my skin. Between my thighs…”

“Stop it.” The echoes of her calling Damon’s name were etching back into Kai’s head and he felt himself unravelling; he was beginning to shake. He couldn’t listen to her say anymore, just the possibility of any of it being true was excruciating to consider.

“Maybe I fantasize…”

“Bonnie.”

“Maybe when we’re together it’s his face I see —”

Kai seized Bonnie by the shoulders, his grip so tight he knew it would bruise her. “Why are you trying to make me angry?”

“Because I hate this!” She broke out of his grip and pushed him away from her. “You make me feel in the worst possible way. You bring something out in me that is dangerous and wrong.”

“It’s always been there, Bonnie.”

“But I didn’t notice it before you.”

“And now you’re having the time of your life.”

“And now I’m sickened with myself because of it. I hate you for that!”

“You don’t know hate, Bonnie.”

She took a step closer to him, her face inches from his, her eyes determined and blazing. “I. Hate. You.”

“You hate me?” he whispered. “You hate me? I hate you. What you do to me. Look at me! Look at what I’m doing because of you! I can’t even think about you with anyone else without wanting to kill something!”

Bonnie’s expression changed. Her eyes were shining now and Kai knew she wouldn’t let go of those unshed tears; he knew they were tears of anger, too, of being shamefully confused about what she was feeling and why.

“Everything about you terrorizes me. Do you know what that’s like? To think about you all the time and not be able to think about anything else? The songs make it seem fun, you know, make it seem cute. It’s not. It literally drives you crazy. You drive me crazy.” Kai gesticulated wildly and then put his put his hand to his face, rubbing his eyes with his thumb and forefinger. “I can’t concentrate on anything except for when I get to see you again.” Almost instinctively, he stretched his arm to touch her. She didn’t move away from his reach. Kai closed his eyes in a sort of triumph. That was all he wanted.

“When I get to feel you again …” He put his hands on her hips and clenched the material of her leggings. She pressed her mouth together and lowered her eyes. “… kiss you again …” He inched closer to her, his head bent, looking at her downcast eyes, his lips at her forehead. “I’m a mess if I’m not touching you,” he whispered. She sighed. He started kissing her earlobe and she slipped her hands up his chest. “And I can’t stand it when I am touching you because I know that eventually I’ll have to stop …” He moved his hands up to her waist and squeezed, making her stand on her tiptoes. He moved her against the wall. She put her lips against his neck. He flexed his hands over her behind and then slid them up to the small of her back, to the top of her spine, smoothing his fingers over her spaghetti straps so that they lightly fell off her shoulders, he grazed his teeth against them, he ran his lips down the back of her neck, his fingernails digging into the material of her tank top, desperate to shred through it and touch her skin. For now he just wanted to feel her, wanted to savour his hands on her body, explore the deep shallows of her curves, experience the smoothness of her skin, run his fingers across the firmness of her legs.

“This is killing me, Bonnie,” he breathed into her ear, hooking into the waistband of her leggings. “Do you know what that’s like?”  He slipped a finger in, tearing through her underwear until he got where wanted. Bonnie gasped and clasped his neck, bringing his face to hers but he didn’t kiss her; both of their mouths were open in raw yearning, both of their lips were touching, their eyes boring into each other. “All I do is wait for this,” he said.

“I know,” said Bonnie, her voice hoarse. “I know what that’s like.”

Kai sighed and increased the pressure of his fingers, making Bonnie throw her head back against the red brick. She clenched his shoulders. He withdrew his finger and trailed it across Bonnie’s lower lip, his eyes clouded and dark.

“Why’d you stop,” she whispered frantically.

“Because,” said Kai, lifting her. She wrapped her legs around him. “I don’t think you do know.” And he rocked into her, groaning with each thrust. She tried to keep quiet but with each intake of breath, each needy moan, Kai grinned. Madness. He wanted to drive her to madness. He rocked harder. Bonnie swore.

“Let’s go somewhere else,” she said breathlessly.

“No.”

“Please.”

“Why?”

“I want …” She dug her fingers deeper into Kai’s shoulder. “I want to do this for real.”

So did he but not yet.

“No,” he said again, his voice cracking. “You need to know.”

Bonnie put her hands on either side of her face and kissed him. Ferociously. Like she wanted all of his air. Kai thrust into her harder. She bit his bottom lip. He fisted through her hair. She squeezed her legs tighter around him. He ran his tongue down her chin.

“I know,” she said. It was almost a plead.

“Good,” said Kai, loosening his grip so she could slide down and stand back on the ground. He pressed her against the wall with his body, slipping his hands up and beneath her tank top, palming her breasts. Bonnie sighed through her kiss-swollen lips and reached for Kai’s zipper but he caught her by the wrist, raised her arm and pinned it above her head against the wall. He leaned toward her, gently dragging his teeth across her jaw, and he nibbled her earlobe. “No,” he whispered as his other hand continued to massage her chest. He could feel her tremble with ripe want.

“Kai,” she said.

“You drive me crazy,” he told her again.

She groaned. “I hate you.”

“I know,” he said, smiling against her neck. And he did know. Because it was theirs. “Only ours.”

Trigger Point

Happy holidays @fuckitimfangirling from @goldscribbles! This is an unconventional take on the soulmate trope. I’ve never thought about this idea before, so I found myself with a lot of questions and tried to work through them in this piece. I’m not sure if this is what you were looking for, but I did my best and hopefully you like it!

Kai steps out of the dim room into the hallway squinting at the light, his body loose and pleasantly aching from the massage.

“How are you feeling?” a soft voice asks.

He looks at his massage therapist, a short young woman with dark hair, who is holding a glass of water in her hand. Something is off with his vision. He rubs his eyes, but the slight blurriness still lingers.

The woman smiles, extending the glass to him. “Take your time. It can be hard adjusting to the light.”

“Thanks.” He takes the offered water from her, their fingers barely grazing, and color explodes across his retinas.

“Mr. Parker? Mr. Parker!”

Anything

Happy holidays @kingcobrakai1972 from @leianaberrie! Set in an alternate season 7. Season 6 until the finale. The heretics escape and under Lily’s orders, put Elena in a sleeping spell as punishment to Damon before leaving Mystic Falls. Bonnie meets Kai to ask him to help break the spell. She’s willing to do anything he asks.

“Anything?”

Bonnie slants a glance at the man sitting across the table. In the shadows, she can’t read the expression on his face, but his eyes are glinting.

Her fists spams under the table, and she swallows. Hard. “Yes.”

There is a beat. Then another.

“Let’s go.”

She barely has time to snatch up her purse, before Kai’s hand is firm on her elbow, leading her out of the restaurant. She wonders with vague hysteria if the waiter won’t chase them down for not paying the bill, then laughs to herself as she remembered that the owned he restaurant, the entire block, this damn town.

He glances down at her at the laugh, just briefly, and she catches a glimpse of a tight jaw and glinting, glinting eyes, then he’s striding across the parking lot, with her in tow.

won’t you please come around (cause I want to spend forever with you)

Happy holidays @bonkaiqueen from @fuckitimfangirling!

I’ve wanted to do a second soulmate AU for a while and I was really excited to receive my prompt - especially bc it gave me some wiggle room to go pretty dark and reinvent the universe a bit. So thank you for providing this delicious prompt and feeding my muse. I’ll post parts 2 and 3 before Christmas and I’ll be sure to tag you first!

Warnings: Dark. Deals with sleep disorders, and has some creepy sexual vibes bc it relies heavily on parasomnias and nightmare mythology. Mild medical horror. Slight underage, as Bonnie experiences vivid hallucinatory nocturnal emissions as a teen. Canon-typical violence, emotional manipulation and abuse, cat and mouse games. Part 1 is anachronistic and sequential sections without a year change are the same year as the previously noted year. You’ll see. Some plot points and characteristics are pulled from the books, others are just an overhaul of some of the show’s mythos.

1987

Kai grunts in aggravation when his bed dips down in the middle of the night, waking him from a deep, dreamless sleep. He recognizes the smell of Josette’s cleanser and briefly considers kicking his sister out of his bed - literally - when her hand slips into his and her cracked voice calls his name.

She sounds like she’s been crying and Kai can’t decide if he wants to deal with her whining now or in the morning. They haven’t slept in the same room, let alone the same bed, in years, too old to seek comfort in body heat and nearness. It doesn’t help that Kai once sleep-siphoned her to near death in the throes of a nightmare once when they were five and has been ordained no contact ever since.

So this? This is strange and Kai figures he’d rather deal with an weepy Jo now than a weepy and angry Jo during breakfast.

Squeezing her hand back, he sighs and pulls her into a hug. It’s too hot to be comfortable, but his sister likes this kind of affectionate shit and she’ll probably quit bitching faster if he’s nice.

“S'wrong?” he slurs. Jo is quiet for a beat. Irritated, Kai pinches her side to prompt her. Shoving his hand away, Jo sighs.

“I dreamt with my soulmate tonight,” she finally replies, her voice breaking on the word soulmate.

I May Not Be Your Cup of Tea, but I'll Be Your Glass of Eggnog

Happy holidays @brawohania from @frostedgemstones22!

Bonnie Bennett was single and this was a problem.

She had been free woman, ever since her ex Enzo had left her. Not only had he packed up without many words and texted her about it later, but he’d left her for an woman for sure old enough to be his mother.

Wasn’t the idea that men couldn’t help but trade in for the newer model? Somehow it was more insulting to Bonnie that he had traded in for an older model. The shitty part was she might have married him if he stayed, if he just let this affection die. Bonnie would have hitched herself to an utter asshole.

Okay, so calling him an asshole was sort of mean. He had been a good boyfriend. Not a great one, but a good/okay/decent-enough one. It wasn’t Bonnie’s fault that he preferred women with minivans, elaborate Pinterest boards, and matching workout suits from Juicy Couture instead of bikes, textbooks, and ripped jeans from Urban Outfitters. In the long run, it was probably good she and him had split ways. It still stung, but only when she thought hard about it.

She didn’t dislike being single. This was not the issue at hand. Bonnie wasn’t the type that always needed a boyfriend. She was, more often than not, single. She was confident enough to live and exist alone, or without a romantic partner, and only truly missed Enzo when someone invited her to watch a scary movie or a couple’s date night.

The problem was that, for months now, she’d been getting out of awkward social invitations at her work place by citing a mysterious boyfriend with strange work hours, thus the only time she could see him was conveniently when Susan in HR wanted to grab a beer and talk about feelings.

Bonkai AU: Canon Up To Partway Of 4x19. Bonnie Bennett Has Had Enough. Shes Tired. But Her Grams Says

Bonkai AU: Canon up to partway of 4x19. Bonnie Bennett has had enough. She’s tired. But her Grams says it’s not her time and sends her away for a bit. This little vacation is just the beginning for a life that Bonnie never expected.

FF | AO3

“Who are you?”

A voice. Not his voice. A different one. It startled Kai and he found himself snapping out of his daze long enough to refocus his vision.

There, in his line of sight, stood the supposed figment of his imagination. She was dressed in a pair of high rise denim shorts, a black crop top with a black and white checkered button up covering the rest of her. But he got a clean view of her beautiful bare stomach - the muscles flexing at feeling his gaze rove over her. The heels of her combat boots shifted across the wooden porch as she folded her arms across her chest in waiting.

Kai’s lips parted but he couldn’t find the proper words. After all, her voice had taken him by surprise. All this time, he’d believed she wasn’t real.

She canted her head to the side slightly - still waiting for his answer. He took a step back when he saw her moving from the porch. Kai couldn’t bring himself to run, however, and felt nature rooting his Converse-clad feet to the ground.

The girl circled him, inspecting him. He felt like a freak on display but he still couldn’t voice his displeasure. He could smell the hint of her perfume. Elizabeth Taylor’s White Diamonds.

She finally stopped, standing directly in front of him. Her eyes seemed to pop even more in the mid-morning sunlight. Her perfectly arched brows raised and there was a soft glow of bronzer on her cheeks - further accentuating her heart-shaped face. Full lips parted and she slowly reached a hand out toward him. Kai hadn’t realized that he’d been holding his breath.

“…are you real?”

Frenzied {BonKai Fan Fic Teaser}

All right, Bonkamily, I know it’s been a minute but I did say I was working on a one shot for you guys and this is the first part to it from Kai’s perspective, the second part will be from Bonnie’s and trust me, it won’t end the way it seems like it will. I really wanted to explore a regular-irregular/normal-not-normal argument between the two of them, like this is what it would look like when they have relationship arguments. It was fun to write, hopefully you’re excited for the entire one shot!

image

                                                    Part I

“Kai, stop walking.”    “No.”    “Stop walking now.”    He didn’t bother responding this time and continued hurtling through the hallway, down the stairs and out of the dormitory building. Bonnie was half a step behind him, almost but not quite keeping pace with his long, determined strides. Kai knew she was angry with him but he was angry too — furious. Or well he was panicked and hurt and that made him furious; she made him furious, undid him, laid him bare. It was maddening.    “Dammit, Kai.’    No answer.    “You know, I can make you stay here!”    Suddenly, he whirled around sharply so that he was looking at her dead in the eye, their faces only inches away from each other. “I’d like to see you try,” he said.    Bonnie glared at him but didn’t do or say anything.    Silence.    But their silences were never really silent; they were charged with unspoken aggression, with resentful desire … with wicked longing. Their silences were always loud with the imagery of them together, their bodies entwined and writhing, slicked with sweat and flushed with pleasure. Even now as Kai glowered at Bonnie, at how her face was contorted with defiance and rage, he itched to grab her to him, to feel her claw his back, to feel her teeth bite down mercilessly on his lower lip. He couldn’t help but picture his mouth on her, kissing her until she was breathless; his tongue running all over her skin, his fingers caressing her until she trembled, torturing her until she begged for more, for release, for God, for him.    That was it.    Kai closed the gap between them by thrusting his lips onto hers and pushing her indelicately against the brick wall of the dorm building. He held either side of her face, his body hard against hers, as he kissed her savagely; the remembered huskiness of her moans urged him to nip at her neck and collarbone, to thrust his pelvis into her as he slipped his hands beneath her shirt to graze and explore her bare stomach. Bonnie’s panting was quickened and harsh and she squeezed the nape of his neck, then she put her hands lower to his ass and pressed, encouraging him to push into her again. Yes. Hell yes. This was what he wanted, this was what consumed his thoughts all day, since this morning, since walking in on her and seeing … seeing …    Kai wrenched away from Bonnie and took a step back, his blood screaming, his body yearning to mould back into her, to overwhelm her, to possess her with a need for him. But he couldn’t let what he saw go. It tore him up inside. The memory of what he walked in on infected his mind like a virus and taunted him cruelly so that he shook with furious insecurity.    Only moments before, Kai had stood in the doorway and watched as Bonnie destroyed the entire dorm, shattering things with magic or else throwing objects against the wall so that they broke apart. She was frenzied, overwhelmed with anger; too emotional to control her power. Kai had seen her like this before, many times before; he’d seen her like this when they fought, when they fucked … when she tried to resist their pull, tried to resist him. Kai knew that he agitated Bonnie beyond reason, beyond comprehension, that he incensed her with hatred; hatred for all the pain he caused her, for the darkness he awakened in her, hatred that he livened her with passion, that she was tormented with want for him. But what he walked in on wasn’t about that, it wasn’t about him. Before he could even ask what was wrong, he heard her mutter frantically as she smashed and slammed and crushed.    “… done giving him chances, done being his friend … selfish ass! Why do we put up with it? Why do I put up with it? He’ll never change … should’ve killed him when I had the chance, probably should kill him now … How did I ever let myself be friends with Damon freaking Salvatore?”    That name. That fucking name. The reaction was instinctive and Kai yelled, punching a hole in the wall, making Bonnie turn to him.    “What did he do?”    “It’s none of your business, Kai.”    “Bonnie, what the hell did he do?”    “Nothing he hasn’t done a hundred times before!”     It was a mess in his head. Kai couldn’t stand it; seeing Bonnie respond so strongly to the actions of another man. It killed him, wrecked him completely. Her spite and her anger, it was supposed to be his, only his, it was supposed to be his connection to her, their bridge to each other; he could turn her hatred for him into hatred for what he made her feel, that he could gratify her, set her free from constraints. Kai wanted it all and he wanted it all to himself — her resentment, her fury … but now he was sharing it with Damon. Now what was his was theirs and how long would it be until Damon tried to transform that rage the way Kai did?  And what if he was able to? Kai swore loudly and swiftly ran his fingers through his hair.    There was something else too; a newfound irritation that terrorized him. Damon had hurt Bonnie. He’d caused her grief; he’d done something to upset her enough that she was raging in her room and seeing Bonnie in pain in turn caused Kai pain; it enraged him, compelled him to utterly destroy the reason for her suffering. The only person who could cause her anguish was him; Kai wouldn’t allow anyone else the opportunity. And that was when he’d left, when he started looking for Damon.    Bonnie yelled at him now. “Do not go after him.”    “I thought you wanted him dead,” said Kai sardonically.    “Obviously I didn’t mean it!”    “I don’t care. I wanted to do this for a long time.”    “I don’t need you to protect me. Or defend me!”    “You think I don’t know that? That isn’t what this is about!”    It was half true. Kai didn’t feel like arguing that point right now, it was bad enough that they were fighting about Damon’s well-being at all; her insistence that he leave the Salvatore alone only instilled in him a deeper need to tear him apart.    “So what,” said Bonnie. “You’re just using me as an excuse to kill?”    “You’re not an excuse.” Kai rubbed his forehead in frustration. “He has a hold on you. He has a hold on you and it’s driving me crazy!”    Bonnie looked bewildered and her expression alleviated Kai’s jealous worry. But only slightly. “He’s just my friend,” said Bonnie.    “Why? After everything he’s done to you—”    “I don’t know why!”    “Exactly!”    “I don’t know why I continue to see you after everything you’ve done to me either, Kai.”    He took an abrupt step forward and he saw Bonnie tense with resolve and wary anticipation as he drew closer to her. “Are you saying that you and him are the same thing as me and you?”    “No!” said Bonnie. “I’m not sleeping with Damon!”    “But you kissed!”    Bonnie yelled in frustration. “Once!” She shook her head. “You know what, no. I don’t have to justify myself to you.”    “And I don’t have to justify myself to you either.”    Bonnie slapped him hard against the face and his cheek stung terribly, it burned; he could taste blood in his mouth. “Like hell you don’t!” she said.    Kai stared at her and then turned away to start walking again. He didn’t feel her behind him like before but then — “I will never forgive you if you do this!”    He paused on the spot for a moment, turned around and walked back toward her and without hesitation pressed his lips against hers for a second time. His hand was on her throat beneath her chin and he kissed her with even more intensity than before, pouring in his hunger and taking everything he could from her; her exasperation and outrage, her thirst however repressed and finally he took her magic. His mouth opened hers, her tongue urgent against his, he used the contact to siphon shreds of power from her; it was a thrilling process, one that aroused and exhilarated, one that brought him even closer to her, one that allowed her to consume him and him to consume her at the same time. Just before he pulled away, he cast a silent spell and Bonnie was immobile, bound by invisible constraints and then he inched away from her. “You haven’t forgiven me for everything else that I’ve done what’s one more sin to the list?” He pulled back further. “Kai, no. No. Let me go! Let me go, now! Kai!” And then with a whisper of speed he was gone, Bonnie’s yells echoing in his ear, the taste of her on his tongue.

Writing is such a process

I’m attempting to outline my fanfiction, The Arrangement, and I’m so annoyed. There are so many different ideas for this pairing that I want to try out, so many scenarios I want to see that it’s a bit difficult to focus. I know how long I want this fic to be and that there will be some steam. Just not entirely sure how I want them to get there.

Kai: You…really consider me your boyfriend?

Bonnie: Well, what else would I consider you?

Kai: I dunno, an embarrassment, a way to rebel against your parents, a desperate cry for help….the list is endless.
