Totally not stuck thinking about what if Bucky becomes a Paladin of Ankarna. A young boy who leaves his abusive family, but doesn't have the doubt his sister did but rather clarity because Kristian already left and she found a family. Bucky has this proof that Kristian didn't; his bigger sister, his shield gave him the conviction to act.
Sol, the sun, cast his sister out and holds his younger brother to either suffer the same fate or to continue growing in abuse. Ankarna, however, gave him fury, in light, bright, and strong as the dawn to leave, to grab his brothers and run, to protect them from the wickedness of their home.
Bucky comes to live at Mordrid, getting to pray again with Kristian, but this time to the goddesses they choose rather than the god forced upon them. The two grow into adulthood next to each other. Coming to terms with their trauma, growing from a chaotic girl and an obedient boy. Becoming, for the first time, themselves.

probably insufferable but i hope bucky's adventuring party is patient with him. i hope they treat his attempts to convert them as a minor nuisance at best and all the friction he talks to his parents about is actually nonexistent. i hope they all like him for who he is. i hope his mask slips off while he's with them. I hope one of them made him the little beaded lizard hanging off his bag.
I definitely thought for a sec this was Casandra coming to Bucky. So hear me out.
Just imagine he’s pushed himself too far in his first physical fight after a day of struggle with his parents, he goes to the church of Helio to pray but he not sure what he’s even doing. He lowers his head asking what it’s all for. If being good for the family is right why dose it mean you don’t get love till your dead. There must be something beyond comfort in afterlife, he wants comfort today. And in all his questioning she comes, a divinity in the image of his older sister from the year they never spoke, and she lays a hand on him, and sits in the unknown and unfair.

Can you image you go to a school because you desperately want to be close to your estranged sister and she talked to you ONCE!!! Not just that she’s running for president™️! She is going around the town, she went to your junior high one year too late, her friend is running the social scene and has invited the freshman but you never get the ask from her to join, SHE SPENT HER RELATIONSHIP TIME ON THE HELIO CELIC KID YOU KNOW SHE HATES BUT NOT YOU!
Imagine if Kristen just asked to get a coffee with Bucky, talked about why she loves her god, asks if he has any crush’s, tells him he’s doing a good job.
I am still on my thinking about Bucky Applebees shit.
I want to know what he really thinks about his god. His sister was The Chosen™️, and he was just one of the church kids, he was her brother. As a church kid myself when you get labeled in relation to your siblings it never leaves. Can you imagine everyone in your life saw you as an extension of a the one that got away, got out. He must have so much to prove but so little to believe in.
Cus this a world where you know the gods are there they can hear you. But sometimes you beg and beg for power, for change, to just take her place as chosen so you can live up to the expectation, and nothing. Then BUDDY DAWN shows up! He’s handsome and happy and excepted and he gets to spend time with your sister. Proof that you are missing something, what you want is possible, it’s just not yours.
It feels like Bucky will either end up with a deep hate for “God” or be the most radicalized member of this cult.
