Yes. He genuinely does not view himself as a person.
Important context: he’s not a person. He’s a spirit, and he knows that. He will never be a person, and he’s generally not treated as such.
Sword Spirits are created for a specific purpose. Their Master is usually (but not always!) their creator, and their purpose is generally to protect them/kill their enemies. They are weapons, after all. Wars’ era needed a hero. So… they made one. They physically took the Hero’s Spirit from the Sacred Realm and put it into the blade, which made Wars. He was created specifically for the purpose of winning the war. And afterward… he was discarded.
Sword Spirits cannot really function without a Master. That’s why Sky’s so understanding of Wars constantly trying to use that title for the Links. They must always have a purpose, and though Sky’s trying to push him to find one for himself, Sword Spirits aren’t quick to change. It will take time. For now, Sky knows that if Wars is calling him “Master,” it means that there’s a connection there. There’s trust.
The others don’t see it that way. They view it as Wars belittling himself and they don’t like the thought of him being subservient to them. They never, ever, want to be associated with the kinds of people who seek to control others. But they don’t understand that insisting to Wars that “You don’t have a Master” only hurts him.

“I am Sky” stories: Zelda
A bit of an explanation under the break?
Sky and Pipit are 100% brothers and no one can convince me otherwise. They’re very close! This story takes place before the Zelda story. Here, Sky’s been merged for like three days at the most, and those three days were spent in Skykeep, defeating Demise (and literally everyone else) and then a long recovery (which is a battle in and of itself). So having this time to test his limits in a safe place with someone he trusts is very important!
I have many MANY more thoughts about Sky and Pipit’s relationship that are currently being condensed into a fic (hopefully I’ll be able to get it all written out soon) but for now, I hope this is enough!
And as always, if you have questions, feel free to ask! I’m more than happy to ramble!

On September 25th, 2023, I posted the original character sheets for the Chain as Cryptids au. It had been a brainworm for much longer than that, but one year ago today, I mustered up the courage to share my silly little ideas. And I think that might have been the best thing that’s ever happened to me!
Over the course of this past year, I have found so much joy in these little guys. Looking back at the oldest CAC posts, I’m really proud of how my art has improved, I feel more comfortable sharing my stories, and I have made some of my closest friends. So to everyone who’s stuck around for this year and everyone that’s come more recently, thank you so much for allowing me to create! This has meant the world to me.
I will be taking CAC art requests to celibrate, but I’m going to be very real with you guys- Echoes of Wisdom comes out tomorrow. Please be patient with me if it takes me a while to draw haha. I fully intend to be sucked headfirst into that game!
