Yarn Magic
Hello everyone! Now I know a lot of spoonies, and a lot of witches who either knit, crochet or sew. These activities suit both groups: for spoonies they offer a creative output without having to spend too much energy, and for witches they’re a really easy way to practise magic daily. So yarn/knot magic is perfect for spoonie witches!
This year (2017) I am crocheting a square each day, and making these into a massive blanket. I am choosing the colours of each square based on each day, how I felt, or magical colour correspondences I want to instil.
As I crochet, I set my intention for the blanket within each stitch- for me these include protection, comfort and safety. Other ways to add magic include adding strands of your hair or the hair of a loved one into the blanket to add extra protection (this often happens by accident for me as my hair sheds everywhere!), or you can crochet with the colours specific to your intentions.
My colour correspondences are:
white: cleansing and purity
black: protection and binding
red: strength and passion
pink: love and harmony
orange: courage and comfort
yellow: communication and self love
green: fertility and wellness
dark blue: dreams and psychic abilities
light blue: joy and new beginnings
violet: divination and inspiration
purple: authority and power
grey: neutrality and secrets
brown: the home and grounding
silver: intuition and reflection
gold: prosperity and luck

Paper Magic
Paper magic is an excellent option for us witches who love the written word or just can’t break the bank on magical supplies but usually have a few scraps of paper lying around (note: most ideas here are cheap, some may not be). Here are a few ideas of how paper magic can be used in your practice.
Scraps/Sheets of Paper
Soak paper in infusions/gem elixirs matching your intent and let them dry -this will give the paper its own magical charge to combine with sigils, runes or charm bags, or allow it to be used on its own. (ensure the gems/herbs you use are safe)
Use the newly charged paper (possibly with a sigil on it) in crafts or place it around the house for protection
If you have it, used coloured paper (perhaps post-it notes for some) to match your intent, i.e. green for a money drawing charm
Writing words and phrases of importance to you (i.e. psalms or song lyrics) on small pieces of paper and carry them around as talismans and charms
Creating a paper poppet
Origami and other paper shaping crafts to create charms, talismans or for spells (i.e. a jar full of paper stars with happy memories on them to preserve or attract happiness)
Books and Words
Inscribe words on an apple or other food representing your goal and eat it
Black out spell -take a damaged book or page and black out all the useless words on it to create a sentence/phrase representing your desire -this can then be framed, kept, used in charms or spells, or burned as you see fit
Inscribe words, lyrics or psalms onto candles to match the intent of your spell or act as spells in themselves (i.e. I need a dollar dollar, dollar is what I need and burn for a money-drawing spell)
Ink and Pens
Create your own ink and add in a few drops of essential oils that represent your will if necessary -there are a variety of methods in the links provided, and many possibilities exist (i.e. making ink with ashes, all manner of plants)
Creating ink too hard? Draw sigils or runes on your pen/ink well (or stick a piece of paper with runes/sigils somewhere on them)
Charge your pen and/or ink with intent

Witchy tips for artists
I’m an artist and I love mixing my magick with my every day life so here’s some fun easy stuff you guys could try <3
•use storm water for your watercolor paintings to draw a deep, passionate emotional response from your audience
•keep chalcedony on you while drawing, it can enhance inspiration and creativity
•use leftover wax from your ritual candles to make wax-splatter art (that shit is cool yo)
•when you’re upset, draw whatever pops into your head, even if it’s scribbles, and then burn it to banish the negative energy
•enchant your pencils and paintbrushes
•make magick collages from pressed flowers and leaves you’ve collected and hang it in your room to remind you that nature will always be our #1 teacher
•fill your sketchbook with sigils
•draw your own tarot cards. The unique and person touch of it will make the deck 100 times more powerful, and as a plus you can program it to just work for you
•sculpt poppets out of clay, or idols of your deities
•turn your poetry into spells
•use glitter in binding spells
•make Samhain masks out of craft foam
•dude just be creative anything can be magick and magick can be anything
