This morning I don't know why but out of the blue I imagined Namjoon as a new father. And his clumsy ways does not mix well with first time diaper changing! 😄 But no doubt he would be a great dad! Then I started to imagine other members as 1st time dads. Jin comes to mind as being a natural. Not sure about the rest. Your thoughts?

Oh man… this is an enjoyable idea to think about. 

BTS as New Dads

Namjoon - Genius Dad

Always talks to the kid in full sentences with all the big vocabulary words. Treats “what if we had a purple flying elephant for a pet?” as the most serious of scientific questions. Will answer every question in every situation, so accidentally ends up explaining where babies come from in the middle of the McDonalds drive-thru. Genius with everything except installing car seats, that is mom’s job. Diapers took some figuring out in the beginning, but now he only rarely gets peed on.

Jin - Soccer Dad

Carries an enormous diaper bag that has every supply one could possible need.  Brings all the snacks and juice boxes to soccer practice (and sneaks in some wine coolers for the parents). Arrives everywhere 10 minutes early with kids in tow. Is hugely popular with the whole team because of his terrible dad jokes and impassioned screaming from the sidelines. Willing to make a fool of himself for the sake of his kid. 

Yoongi - Sleep-deprived Dad

Burns the midnight oil because mom needs her rest. Groans in the middle of the night when the baby cries followed by “I’ve got her.” Always has a cup of coffee in hand. Does the dishes at four in the morning with a sleeping baby in one arm. Falls asleep in front of the TV on Saturday afternoon with the baby on his stomach. Her nap time is his nap time.

Hoseok - Nervous Dad

Reads every pregnancy book. Wakes you up in the middle of the night with absurd hypothetical questions about various things that might go wrong in the far distant future. Baby-proofs the whole house before the end of your first trimester. Googles every pregnancy symptom and checks every ingredient list in the food you eat. He is so relieved when he finally safely holds his baby is his arms that he just does nothing but stare at her for hours on end, beaming with pride.  

Jimin - Needs A Lot Of Reassurance Dad

Looks to you for continued confirmation that he is doing the right thing. Will do every diaper change as long as you tell him afterward that he did a good job. Takes a million photos, keeps thorough records of every first step, first word, first smile, keeps his baby’s first shoes in a box on his desk for the next 30 years. Loves picking out cute outfits and getting you to praise his baby fashion choices. Better than you at doing his baby’s hair.

Taehyung - Natural Dad

Mellow and comfortable and makes you feel at peace that everything will work itself out. Never worried during the pregnancy. Thinks his kid is the funniest and laughs even when told the same bad knock-knock joke for the 100th time. Down to watch Frozen 400 times in a row and sing all the songs every time. Speaks in a made up language that only he and the kid understand. Reads books out loud and does all the voices. Invents elaborate imaginary games that always end with him tickling the kids mercilessly. 

Jungkook - Finally Has Another Kid to Play With Dad

Spends 90% of his time down on the ground with the kid. Will never tire of giving airplane rides or throwing the kid into the pool. Wants to play all the video games together and teach his kid all the sports. Steals snacks meant for the kid, so you always have to buy double. Conspires with the kid to play pranks on you but also to make you the best surprise breakfast in bed. He and the kid have matching pajamas. They’ll go build a snowman together and then beg you for hot chocolate.

Silence – the absence of sound is sometimes deafening.

In silence, true silence, other sounds tend to bleed in like a gentle hum.

In Jeon Jeongguk’s silence everything is always louder – the clock ticking away seconds, the sound of his own heart beating catastrophically slow, the sound of gentle breathing across the room.

It drives him insane.

It drives him up the wall.

He’s been so used to sitting in silence that everything just sounds so fucking loud.

The way nails are currently scratching against the rich fabric of the arm chair across from him.

The sound of a bus honking in the distance.

It all resounds through his skull.

“-Guk. Jeongguk?”

Taking a sharp breath, he looks up at the nail scratching culprit.

“Yes, Dr. Kim,” he breathes, loosening his tie.

“Namjoon, please. Do you-Do you want to talk about your progress this week?” Kim Namjoon inquires, looking down at his clipboard.

Guk tilts his head, watching Namjoon’s fingers card through the multitude of sheets.

What has he written down?

“There’s been no progress this week.” he replies, looking down at his lap.

Dr. Kim nods astutely. “Well it takes time for people to come back to themselves… as well as others after what your wife went through. It’s only natural.”

The only thing that Jeongguk thinks is how unnatural life is at the moment.

“Are you experiencing anger?”

Yes.

“Experiencing grief or loss for what your life used to be?”

Oh, yes.

“Are you trying to be strong for her when you can barely stand on your own?”

Fuck, yes.

“No.” Jeongguk states, looking up at the therapist.

In Park Jimin’s 24 years of existence, he’d already had three life altering moments. The first, had been the day when his high school girlfriend had told him she was pregnant when they were only 17. He remembers the ice that had flooded his veins as the words fell from her lips along with the fear of his parents retribution.

The second, had been the day his daughter had been born and he’d held her in his arms for the first time. He remembers the sheer, overwhelming love he’d felt upon the sight of his tiny baby as she’d squirmed slightly with her face scrunched up and how he’d sworn to himself then and there that he’d do anything for her.

The third had been when he was eighteen, and the day his high school girlfriend had informed him that she was leaving them both because she didn’t want her life to stop for a baby. He’d felt numb with shock before confusion and anger had moved in like a creeping fog.

It had only been when he’d been cradling Eun-Byeol at 2am in the morning that he’d realised what he’d have to give up. He’d been applying to the local colleges for when he graduated high school, intending to stay at home to help with the baby.

His shock had been so great that he hadn’t even told his parents about Sunmi leaving him, and he’d collapsed into a fit of panic at the sudden enormity of what was ahead of him. A road that was filled with trouble and pain, covered in a smog of the unknown that he couldn’t see through.
