Hello I am begging you guys please boost this if you can, this keeps happening an I am so tired of it

TW- death row

Hello I Am Begging You Guys Please Boost This If You Can, This Keeps Happening An I Am So Tired Of It

Somewhere close to where I live there is this man named Pervis Payne and he is suppose to be executed in 29 days please boost this. In Tennessee specifically shelby Tennessee he is suppose to be executed. During his trial and during his time of being on death row he has faced racism, and been told things like "you think your black now just wait until we fry you."

He has so much proof of being innocent but won't be let off death row. Police has said that he was in a drug fueled frenzy with no evidence and REFUSE to do DNA testing or drug testing. He done nothing wrong but is being called a animal.

He has a proven intellectual disability where he shouldn't be on death row at all. I don't care at all what your account is about just please spread awareness knowing that stuff like this is happening where I live to innocent black people just like me is disgusting.

If you can please @ your mutuals. This man deserve freedom.

Here are things you can do

Petition to allow to do DNA testing

Call (615)-741-2001 and press 1 to leave a voice mail granting a stay of pervis payne execution (if it doesn't go to voice-mail there should be someone who answers and you can do the same thing)

I sadly can't find anymore at the moment but if you do please share also some petitions are fake so please be careful.

Also realize that he is probably going to be executed in 28 days now since his execution is on April 9

On January 13th, Lisa Montgomery was executed. The Supreme Court denied a competency hearing to prove her severe mental illness, which would have made her ineligible for the death penalty.

On January 14th, Corey Johnson was executed. The Supreme Court denied claims by Johnson's legal team of an intellectual disability and his Covid-19 diagnosis, arguing that his infection paired with a lethal injection would amount to a cruel and unusual punishment.

On January 15th, Dustin Higgs' execution went forward despite his attorney's appeal to delay the proceeding because of his Covid-19 diagnosis. His attorney also argued that Higgs was unfairly sentenced, since the actual gunman is only serving a life sentence.

The reality is that no federal government should be able to push up dates of execution so close together, ignore paperwork proving their execution to be illegal, and then carry out that execution regardless. Not to mention the injustices potentially carried out in the first place when a death sentence is convicted. As much as we focus on the individual lives of each execution, it is much more imperative to focus on the larger issue. capital punishment needs to abolished completely, for everyone on Death Row.

There will always be criminals so gruesome the public believes that 'yes, that bastard deserves death'. The issue with this is the argument on capital punishment has completely shifted to the wrong-doer, as if they are the deciders of why we have death row. In debating on the death penalty the question should never be do they deserve to die, but rather do we deserve to kill them. To put life or death in someone else's hands and decide based on that individual's character whether someone is deserving of life is immoral in itself. No one should ever be given that opportunity.

These executions won't be stopped unless there is something done. Joe Biden has pledged to abolish the death penalty and I encourage everyone to hold him to this. There is only one way to truly change the nation, and that is together.

We couldn’t save Brandon Bernard, we couldn’t save Corey Johnson, we couldn’t save Dustin John Higgs, but we can still save Pervis Payne.

Pervis Payne is set to be executed on April 9th, we still have a decent amount of time. That being said, don’t wait to speak up and act. Time is still precious. Here’s an article by the Innocence Project about Pervis Payne’s case. As a bit of a side note: the Innocence Project is an amazing organization that deserves as much support as they can get. I’m not telling you to donate to them or anything, however I AM telling you to read up on their cases and resources.

Along with this, President-Elect Joe Biden opposes the death penalty. He WILL listen to people who oppose capital punishment, unlike bloodthirsty Trump. Raise awareness, DEMAND that the White House bring an end to such a cruel, inhumane practice.

Here is a list of anti-death penalty groups to support and use as resources.
