A hand drawn design made for @funktionalj
He is a very talented soulful beat maker that got in touch with us.
Started with a simple photoshoot photo firstly. Then, him wanting to stand with (amsoi) in his right hand which we put in.
Additionally, add madame Jeannette peppers in his left hand. The background is jungle-like which he requested to be drawn.
He also wanted the Surinam flag pole somewhere in the background which we implemented.

The design shown here is actually the founder of our creative studio @canmking
He was given the opportunity to start his own online radio show with an organisation called LWSTD - FM, which he called "Music ain't a sound, it's a feeling".
The designer in our team was given the tough task of adding finer details for this illustration design. With things such as the chains, watch, rings and clothes!
Additionally, put in a city backdrop followed by two big pillars and speakers all around. Think of a Hi-Fi music system, emphasising CANMKING's love for music.
Let's not forget the music keyboard on the floor, as well as the microphone to the left and a laptop with the Guyanese flag for representation where CANMKING is from.
Took a LOT of rough drafts, but our designer finally got it to a high standard.

Album Review: Dybbuk Tse!

From The Artist: Yoni Mayraz states that the "Dybbuk, known from Jewish folklore, is a malevolent wandering spirit that enters and possesses the body of a living person. Itâs a cursed soul of a dead one that wanders tirelessly for sins committed during their life. The most vulnerable victims are the young and the sinful. Possession can be taken literally or as an analogy to the burden that young people carry generations back, which they have no influence on, and which they have to accept. Dybbuk can only be removed by exorcism. The titular âDybbuk Tse!â is a command to remove the spirit from the possessed body. The album is a story about possession but also about exorcism through music."

Favorite Track: As We Entered Jericho
Authors thoughts: Wow, wow, wow! What an album! Mayraz has a truly unique sound and artistic voice that comes through here beautifully. A fusion of jazz, 90's NYC hip-hop, and Middle Eastern music, this album harbors a vibe like no other and a rooted story within. These three genres are blended beautifully together through structure, rhythm, melody and star-striking solos from each member of the band. The solos flow from instrument to instrument perfectly and the group seems to be in that state of "musician communication harmony" together. In particular, I enjoyed the groovy and flowing bass lines which Eli Orr rips out on bass guitar with a nice, rich, but synth-like tone. Somewhat dark yet light at the same time, Mayraz delivers his usual style of production while simultaneously experimenting with tinges of murkiness and gloom, resulting in the aforementioned dark/light contrast. I, personally, could not help but get up and dance to some of the tracks on here. My only real critique here is that the titular track (Track 5: Dybbuk Tse!) falls kind of flat in comparison to the rest of the album and the opening vocal sample on it feels out-of-place. Finally, I think the album art is surreally beautiful and worthy of mentioning here because it is just so cool. Very much worthy of it's high rating, I would recommend this album to anyone interested in or looking to get into fusion/contemporary jazz.

Guess which dumbass stayed up all night watching the step up movies on youtube: This oneeeeeee.
Today's choice is the 2006 banger Get Up by American RnB artist Ciara featuring Chamillionaire. You cannot judge me for this one mysterious internet force. I am aware that the 2000s spawned a lot of objectively bad Hip Hop/RnB but this hip twister is not one of them and I will die on my hill. Featured in the 2006 film Step Up and in their album Ciara: The Evolution, this one will make your body move. This song is sexy and fun plus the lyrics flow over a funky and multi-faceted backing track. A lot of people from my generation try to distance themselves from this era or genre/s of music in an effort to come across as high-brow, and honest to god I cannot state enough: fuck that noise. Shake off the snobbery and just dance. I want to and will drop it like it's hot like any other reasonable individual when presented with the opportunity to do so.

Todayâs song is Hip Hop track âWomanâ by âLittle Simzâ featuring vocals by Cleo Soul from the 2021 album âSometimes I Might Be Introvertâ. âLittle Simzâ or Simbiatu Ajikawo is a sensational British Hip Hop artist that is well known for her assured flow with smooth soul, R&B, and jazz-inspired tracks flavoured with orchestral elements in her production. âWomanâ is dripping with gentle luxury with its relaxed sound, stunning vocals in the chorus from Cleo Soul, and confident delivery of lyrics celebrating global women by Simz. âSometimes I Might Be Introvertâ is a fantastically rich album with dynamic compositions and buttery examinations and reflections. My favourite track from the album is âI Love You, I Hate Youâ due to this balance between confident restraint and cathartic release.
