Your boyfriend was coming home tonight, you couldn't believe it. Steve was on tour and the last time you guys saw each other was when you crossed paths with the guys one and a half months ago at a venue. How much you missed him couldn't be put to words, before you always went on tour with him but this time you couldn't because your band also had to tour. Being a musician and dating a musician was hard, but no matter what you sticked together.
You met Steve when you were 16 and he was 17. It was a summer night and you managed to sneak out of the house and go to the abandoned playground on the hill near your home. But to your surprise, there was already a taller, lanky figure sitting on the swing set. You approached him, hoping he wasn't a serial killer, and to your luck, it was an extremely handsome boy with pretty blondish hair. At first, he wasn't talking much, but as the night progressed he opened up more about himself. Of course, you kept in touch after that night and in 1981 he asked you out on a date. On your third date, you made it official and been going strong ever since
You were pulled out of your memories by a cab going down the street and stopping in front of your house. He was finally here. Even before he could knock you opened the door and pulled him into a crushing hug.
"I can't believe you're finally home love, I missed you so much" you mumbled into his chest, pulling him in for a long kiss.
"I missed you too y/n, a lot
"I'm sure you're tired come on, let's get in the shower and then to bed. Ok?" You asked, as you grabbed his bags and put them into the living room, we'll unpack that tomorrow.
While Steve was in the shower you made him hot chocolate and brought it upstairs. When he was out he was only wearing sweatpants and small droplets of water trickled down from the end of his hair onto his chest. He chuckled a bit when he noticed you staring and sat down next to you on the bed. Seeing the hot chocolate on his bedside table he quickly picked it up and started drinking it. When he looked at you he had a small whipped cream mustache on his upper lip and under his nose.
"You look fabulous honey" You giggled
"Do I now?" He replied giving you his adorable signature smile.
After he drank the entire cup you took it from him and put it in the kitchen sink. When you got back he was lying on his back stretching his hands out towards you, asking you to join him in bed. You almost jumped on top of him, all of those nights spent alone made you miss him a lot.
He pulled you close to him, your head on his chest and his hands already tangled in your hair playing with it.
This is how you fell asleep
*In the morning*
Usually, Steve was up by the time you were, but he was exhausted last night so you weren't surprised when he was still softly snoring at 10 am.
You went downstairs to prepare food for the two of you. You weren't the best cook, but not terrible either so you made a simple breakfast consisting of pancakes and fruit.
At around 10:30 Steve wandered downstairs, his hair a mess and still half asleep, but he smelled food so of course he had to come downstairs.
"Morning darling, slept well?" You questioned while pouring tea into both of your mugs. He mumbled back a muffled "Yes" as his mouth was already full with pancake. Chuckling at his eagerness to eat you set down to the table with him and started eating your food too.
After breakfast, you guys decided to just stay in today, watch movies, and cuddle. Steve had the amazing idea to build a pillow fort in the living room and watch the movies there, so here you were trying to bring down pillows and blankets piled up higher than you from upstairs but you lost your balance, almost falling down the stairs. Luckily for you, two arms wrapped around you and Steve whispered into your ears "Careful love, how bout next time you ask me for help yeah?"
"Yeah, yeah, you were just so adorable watching the cartoon channel, I didn't want to disturb you" you thanked him with a kiss.
After you were downstairs safely, Steve started to set up the pillows and you helped him with securing the blankets on shelves and the back of your couch. After your fort was done you got the cookies and ice cream and put on /favorite movie/.
After watching the movie Steve brought the now empty plates into the kitchen and sat back on the pillows. However he didn't sit back next to you, he sat down in front of you lying back into your chest. You were surprised at first because usually, you were the one sitting in his lap or lying on him, but you didn't hesitate to wrap your arms around him and put your head on his. While he was gone you already put on a second movie, so you were watching that in comfortable silence.
"Can I braid your hair?" You asked breaking the silence. Steve didn't reply but he pulled his hair out from the ponytail it was in, so you took that as a yes.
First, you combed his hair through with your hands and then divided it into two parts. You were quite experienced at brading because you braided your and your sister's hair a lot when you were teenagers.
By the time the movie finished you were done with his hair too, now you needed to secure it with hair ties. He looked really funny with the braids, but of course, you told him he looked, very beautiful. Few strands of hair hanging out in the front as those were too short to put into the braid.
When Steve saw you approach him with hair ties he whined
"Y/n, please don't, can't I just take it out?"
"You don't like it? I worked so hard" You asked with fake sadness in your voice
"Fine love, but only because I love you" he finally gave in
"I love you too, now please sit down so I can put this in your hair" you said showing him the ties in your hands.
It was around 9 pm now and you were sitting on the roof of your apartment watching the sky turn from red to dark as things got quieter and the streets downstairs became almost vacant, occasionally people walking by. There was a bench on the roof and Steve was sitting down with you in his lap just watching the stars quietly occasionally sharing a small kiss.
"You know Steve, counting stars is pointless, you'll never be able to count them all." You stated sleepily
"Well love, counting freckles is pretty pointless too, but I know that there are exactly 23 freckles on the left side of your face" Steve responded with a sweet smile and a kiss. You really loved him and hoped to spend the rest of your lives together.
You felt yourself getting lifted up as a cold breeze blew past you, you probably fell asleep. When you opened your eyes again you were inside your apartment lying on the bed with Steve next to you placing small kisses on your face.
Oh, how wonderful it was to have him here with you again.
