Denmark - Tumblr Posts

I feel that by now a few introductory words are in order.
I have a plan. It consists basically of walking from Denmark to Spain, ending on Cape Finisterre on the western coast of Spain.
My only company on the road will be Chanel. She is a six year old Jack Russell terrier with a slightly neurotic mind, an abundance of energy and an obsessive curiosity. She became mine a little over a month ago when her owner became too ill to care for her.
The Danish part we have already covered, following Hærvejen/E1 from Nr. Snede to Padborg (the border). The German part of the trail follows the E1 long distance path, the Rheinsteig, and some trails found on Waymarked Trails. The French trails are The Alsace wine trail and the Camino de Santiago from Thann to Vézelay, and from Vézelay to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. From Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port the plan is to follow the GR10 trail, which runs along the Pyrenees all the way to the coast and Irún where the Camino del Norte starts. The Camino continues on to Santiago de Compostela, and from there it’s only 90 km to Cape Finisterre.
I am hoping to spend around four to six months on this project. Any longer and I would just be drifting, any less and I would be setting myself up for failure. But who knows, maybe I fall and twist my ankle a few days across the border and this will all seem pretty silly… Hopefully I will make it through without a (serious) scratch, and return home with some great stories to tell.
I will try to keep this blog updated with stories and observations as well as pretty pictures.
Wish me luck.

Starting again after a long and final break. The completely clear sky hints at an amazingly starry night. Here in the quiet of the countryside I doubt any light will spoil it. At least I hope so. Chanel has been her usual merry self, rolling in just about anything smelly along the road. However, for some strange reason, that I am grateful for, she has not retained any bad smells. This is a great comfort, since we will be sharing a sleeping bag.

Denmark moved slightly left.
Partly driven by the fact that the "main left wing party" Socialdemokraterne decided last national election to reject a coalition with the left wing parties and instead ally with the right wing parties.
So now a lot of voters are slowly realising that Socialdemokraterne have been a right wing party for years ( Coincidentally that started when they got caught taking bribes in 2014. Random I am sure ) and are so leaving it for more left wing parties.
So now the last centrist party, SF which used to be the Socal democrats tiny ally party got more votes than Socialdemokraterne. For the first time in Danish history.
And it serves as a reminder. Right wingers push right.
Which is bad.
And centrists stops any push towards the left.
That is equally bad.
If you vote for centrists, your country gets more right wing.
Why aren't the fucking european elections trending on here. Man y'all were all over eurovision but the elections were today and nobody is posting abt it??? Dude here in germany a right wing extremist nazi ass party is the second strongest one. Same in france and other countries as well. I feel like im in a dumpsterfire. Please fucking talk about it.
Ich geh jetzt im strahl kotzen tschau
Ooooh!
But Denmark have decided to switch tk the American model!
So we have cut funding of public healthcare by 20%. Then we doubled that and gave it to private healthcare!
Now we get to have a slightly worse healthcare system with longer waiting time AND pay more taxes AND not everyone can access healthcare.
AND as a main bonus, Danes now experience private healthcare having as short waiting times as as public USED to have, while the public have long wait times.
So now the Danes are in favor of MORE private healthcare so we can get to the american model!

Fun fact about Denmark.
We are a tiny country. Yet we have gangster rappers.
Where "gangster" is a weird injoke. Because Denmark do not have the same cultural events as that genre sorta demands.
So when the rappers try to do things that their genre encourages, like yelling what area, especially areas of different gangs they have to compensate
They do this by yelling their postcode.
I swear. It is hilarious every time.
"My name is LOC and I am from 8210!" In their best I-am-a-serious-gangster-rapper white people voice.
It's beautiful

Mads Mikkelsen and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The Danish Film School 1996. Probably a midway film by Shaky Gonzalez. Anders Löfstedt was a film photographer. I made stills. Had quite a few film jobs back then. Film school was the most fun!
