I don’t like Prince. He was a shitty human being and he treated the people who made his career possible like slaves. He was ungrateful and hateful. His music isn’t even that great. Most people just like him cuz of his fashion sense which also wasn’t that great. He was a man. He was wealthy. He had privilege so of course everyone thought his style was ground breaking. He wasn’t gay but he appropriated fashions from LGBTQ+ culture which at the time was still very stigmatized. He was heralded as a LGBTQ+ icon despite being homophobic. I am not saying that people inspired by him have no right to feel that way. I completely understand. I only ask that you are honest with yourself about who he really was and that you stop idolizing him. He was a bad person. He was just like Harry Styles, taking up space in a culture that isn’t his. If you want to appreciate a queer black artist from the 80’s please consider Sylvester.

Here’s some RWBY Redesign doodle. (I like to think Oscar looks up to Ruby a lot. He admires her unwavering optimism and determination. Ruby inspires him to want to do better, be better. In Vacuo Oscar could start wearing a cloak to honor her, similar to how Ruby wears a cloak to honor Summer. [Also the brooch that pins the cloak together is the same brooch Ozpin used to wear.])
