Basically in comparison to the other Roses of Oscar’s bouquet that’s been created, Dia stands out. She’s the crystal rose, an artificial creation. Dia is Oscar’s fox in helping him reach his Rose ... but she doesn’t support him. Not at all. If anything, she stands in Oscar’s way. And all because, she, too, is in love with Ruby Rose.
The fox is meant to help the Little Prince reach his Rose. Dia gives Oscar motivation by being his rival, competing for Ruby’s heart. It takes more than just love to make a relationship work. It takes action, it takes courage, communication and so many other things. She gives Oscar the final push because if Oscar spends too long hesitating, fretting over could-be’s and what-if’s, he’ll never be able to reach his rose.
In the halls of Atlas Academy Dia: Ruby .... Ruby: Dia! (runs towards her) It’s so good to see you again! Dia: I --(cups Ruby’s face) I’ve missed you ... (mouth tentatively curves in a smile) Ruby: Hmm? Dia: (steps towards her and leans down, pressing her lips against Ruby’s in a soft kiss) Ruby: !!! Oscar: (staring in shock, heart beginning to shatter) Weiss: (awkwardly) Well ... I wasn’t expecting that. Yang: (deadpanning) When I told Dia to be more expressive, I didn’t mean to be this straightforwards. I’m gonna kick her ass latter. Blake: Good luck with that. Dia is the best of her year.

This is what would happen.
How would the Roses in the Garden of Roses (that you and other users created) react to the events of Volume 8?
Well I can’t really speak for the rest of the Garden squad---I’ll tag the others and let them answer for their own Roses.
What I can say is that my rose---Rosaline Fox would be more than a little peeved with the development of this volume especially in respect to Oscar.
Seeing that my Rose shares a close bond with Oscar as part of her respective story, she would’ve NEVER stood idly by and allowed what happened to Oscar to happen. She would’ve never allowed George to get close enough to Oscar to abduct him (not without a handful of dust-infused arrows up his Houndoom-looking ass).
And even in the event of Oscar being kidnapped, my Rose would’ve never just allowed Oscar to be taken to Salem. It’s not in her character and relationship with the little prince to do that. No offense to Yang, Jaune and Ren but Rose would’ve definitely left them in the dust and gone off to get Oscar back herself. I mean if it were her launched up by Jaune to snag George and try and slow him down---even if Rose was forced to cut herself loose to help YJR. The minute she realized they were fine, she would’ve been gone with her mission being to help Oscar.
As I’ll emphasize again, Rose wouldn’t have allowed Oscar to be captured or just leave him behind like that. She would’ve done something. Or at least try to do something. She would’ve done what I wanted Ren to do---go off of her own to get up to Monstra to save Oscar somehow even if she had to do it solo. And given the fact that her semblance is shapeshifting, I think Rose could’ve managed to infiltrate Salem’s ranks and free Oscar herself or at least help him out in some way as best as she could.
Bottom-line anon-chan, my Rose would be very much pissed at the events of V8 especially concerning Oscar. She would be disappointed, albeit really annoyed at the tension between the hero team sparked by Yang Xiao Ling.
Despite me writing her to be somewhat of a “rival” to Ruby, Rose would’ve actually sided with Ruby in the event of the group splitting up---not being afraid to point out that Yang was definitely in the wrong for her contribution to the group’s predicament.
However given that Rose cares a lot about Oscar, she would’ve chosen to stick as closely to him as much as possible, especially given that he disappeared for the umpteenth time and it was a miracle (of PLOT conveniences) that the others were able to find him so quickly after his ninety-ninth disappearance. That’s more or less my girl.
