😂 How I see the fam reacting to this

THE JOURNEY OF NATTY GANN (Dir: Jeremy Kagan, 1985).

Dating from an era when Walt Disney Pictures were pursuing edgier family entertainment, The Journey of Natty Gann is a road movie drama set during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

In her movie debut Meredith Salenger stars as the titular Natty. Separated from her father (Ray Wise), she travels the length of Chicago to Washington to find him, accompanied by an unusual travelling companion in the shape of a wolf. She also strikes up a friendship cum chaste romance with a young drifter (John Cusack).


Director Jeremy Kagan delivers a thoughtful, intelligent movie that’s pulls no punches in its believable and affecting account of the hardships caused by poverty and mass unemployment. It also touches, albeit lightly, on subjects such as union activism and police brutality.

The movie treats it subject matter seriously, yet the tone is never too sombre and its uplifting moments offset the gentle melancholic mood which runs through it. Certainly, it is sentimental but it is never sticky and the sentimentality never seems false, while its female lead gives it a feminist slant not usually found in family films of the era.

While the performances are uniformly excellent, the standout is undoubtedly Salenger. Age just 14 during filming, her performance is both moving and charismatic. How she did not become a massive star is anybody’s guess. John Cusack also impresses in an early role as Natty's drifter friend Harry. It is beautifully photographed by cinematographer Dick Bush, capturing the crisp Canadian wilderness (standing in for the US) and the grimy back alleys with a cinematic grace rare in 80s Hollywood.

Although The Journey of Natty Gann won admiration from critics it was not, initially, a hit with audiences. It would eventually find a more appreciative audience on the burgeoning home video market. Still, the movie seems vastly underrated today. It is among the Disney Studios’ best live action releases and one of the most artful major Hollywood releases of the 1980s.

Male Ursula x Gender Neutral Reader pt1

Author's POV

A young boy named Ursul was currently on his way home from a long day of school with a sour mood, he had recently found out that there was a new kid coming to Aqua Academy, at first he didn't care but as he was leaving the building the principal of the school walked up to him.

Mini Flashback

Authors POV

"Ursul" Principal Poseidon called making the said boy turn around, "I have a little task for you that I need you to do on Monday ", he said in a stern but soft voice. "We have a new student coming to coming to Aqua Academy and you are one of the top students in this school and I am willing to trust you with the task of showing the new student around the campus on Monday .  At first Ursul thought that Mr. Poseidon was playing with him but when he saw how serious he was he knew he wasn't. Ursul was not a big fan of people and for him to have to do this he became a little annoyed but he couldn't just say no to the principal, that would be wrong right? Ursul thought, so he said what anyone introverted person would say "why me.....and out of all people Meeee?"  Mr. Poseidon looked at him with an amused look, "I believe I already told you why I chose you to handle this task"  "I know but whyyyy"  the principal chuckles and starts to walk back to the building knowing that Ursul understands what he wants him to do on Monday. With that Ursul headed home with a sour mood.

Authors POV

As Ursul was on his way home he had forgot the whole "show the new kid around" ordeal and was now thinking about what he was gonna eat for dinner, he loved his mothers cooking more than anything in the world, besides his two pet eels Flotsam and Jetsam those two were with him since he was just a little baby they were very loyal to him and treated him with the utmost respect and he does the same to them, the bond between those three is unbreakable.

Ursul's POV

Currently Ursul is to busy mumbling about what he might have for dinner that he almost walked past his house "oh shoot" he turns back around walks up to his house and unlocks the door "I'm home!" Suddenly Ursul was tackled to the floor and attacked by an onslaught of wet kisses from his two beloved pet eels Flotsam and Jetsam then he hears laughter and looks up to see his parents "Welcome home sweetie" his mom says "Hey champ" "Hey mom hey dad" he says as he lovingly caresses his pets "You got home just in time the foods almost done so while I finish up dinner you go get cleaned up ok?" "Ok"

Ursul and his parents sit at the dinner table ready to eat when suddenly Ursul's mom asks a question "So honey how was school?." That's when Ursul remember what his principal asked him to do on Monday causing his relaxed mood to shift to a irritated one his parents noticed immediately "Well my day went perfectly fine but Principal Poseidon decided to ruin it by telling me that I have to show this new kid around the campus on Monday knowing darn well that I DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE!!!" Ursul's mom looked at him and tried her best not to laugh at her son's anger but let out a little snicker "Well sweetie I think that it's a great idea you might actually be able to befriend someone" Ursul takes a moment to process what his mom just said "Hey! What do you mean by that I have friends (😤)" "Oh really what are there names" his dad says with a smirk on his face "Uhh does Flotsam and- his dad cuts him off "And no Flotsam and Jetsam do not count as your friends" Ursul sighs in defeat and slight annoyance knowing that he didn't have any actual friends to name.... As if he had any "Honey don't let this upset you instead be excited that you could make a potential new friend, who knows you guys might have a lot in common" "Your mother's right you'll never know until you try besides your genuinely are a nice person Ursul you just have to show it instead of hiding it behind that tough guy exterior" his dad says then he ruffles his sons hair ursul smiles a little "I'll think about it but there won't be any promises alright??" "Fine by me bud" his dad says "As long as you try sweetie I don't want my little baby to be alone forever" she squeezes his cheeks and coos at him "Moooooooommm" his mom and dad laughed.
