Do What You Can - Tumblr Posts
“It's incredibly discouraging as a fandom creator to get little to no comments/reblogs on your works” and “no one should be guilt-tripped into reblogging or commenting if they don't want to” are statements that can and should coexist.
And they both coexist with the statement that “posts that guilt-trip fans into interacting with fandom works make many people who want to interact less likely to do it out of fear the creator will think their interaction is not good enough”.
And another truth that also coexists with these, but that I don't see talked about enough, is that this:
(no need to actually read the whole text in the image!)

...is a wall of love.
But these:

...are also walls of love!
(image descriptions available in alt text)
And both of these make many creators so, SO happy!
So, for all of us who do want to show creators more love and improve their and our own fandom experience, here's what I propose:
Whenever you consume fandom content, if you have the energy and feel like it, leave a one-line comment. A few emojis. A smile. A keyboard smash. If you have a bit more time and energy than that and you feel like it, quote back your favourite line or point out what your favourite detail about a fanart is. And on the moments where you don't have the energy for any of this, trust that others will do it for you, the same way you do it when you have the energy and others don't.
Let's all remember that fandom is a community. No fan should be feeling like they have to do it all on their own. No one should feel guilty for not having more to give than they do. And those of us who do, let's create walls of love together.

today is Nov. 15. the FCC, under chairman Ajit Pai, will not listen to the public despite millions of comments in support of net neutrality. They are going to try their hardest to kill net neutrality, which in turn will kill the internet, which in turn will help eradicate democracy. it won’t just affect Americans, it has the potential to affect the entire internet, something we ALL use daily. you can bet your ass other countries will see america doing this, and use it as an excuse to do it in their own countries.
this is what buying a plan without net neutrality looks like there:

you have to pay MORE for features you’re already guaranteed to have under net neutrality. and in america, you already know how expensive everything is.
democrats AND republicans both want net neutrality. advocacy groups in touch with congress have said that if your members of congress receive calls from you, they are more encouraged and more likely to take action to stop Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality. after Nov. 22, it will be MUCH HARDER to convince your member of congress.
please, call them. call them daily.

One of the most important things I’ve learned as a Real Adult™ is the importance of a job half done.
Today I did a load of dishes, wiped off my stove, and swept the kitchen floor. Did I do the best job, or finish every dish? No! My stove still has that caked on caramel that I need to bust out an SOS pad to take care of, one of our big pots is still sitting in the sink, and somehow a kitty kibble unearthed itself while I was wiping down the stove (?? how??).. but the kitchen looks a LOT better. It’s once again an inhabitable, usable space.
Parents, bosses, teachers, even my own self, harp upon absolute perfect completion of a task as the be all and end all of a job well done, but god damn, my kitchen isn’t terrible because I took the time to improve it. Little steps, especially when you’re struggling, are important. They mean a LOT. They are a sign that you won, if only in that brief moment, and they make getting all the other stuff done so much easier later on down the road.
farewell😭

Farewell to the mothers of martyrs in the Gaza Strip. As I write this post, massacres are taking place now in the area next to us, which is the Rafah highways, and the bodies are in the roads and ambulances cannot reach them. We are now in a state of displacement, danger is approaching us, and we do not have the basic necessities of life.
I hope you will look at us with compassion and humanity, and alleviate our suffering a little. Support and share our story on your page.

At the behest of my dear friend Amani, I'd like to talk some more about what her children are going through at this time and appeal to you for help!
Her boys are experiencing indescribable trauma. They're forced to live in tents and fall asleep to the sounds of war planes. Their childhood is being stolen from them.

These babies deserve to have a healthy childhood and a future.
Amani is asking for just under 18000CAD and has not even reached the halfway point. Please share his and donate 🙏

Update on my friend Amani from Gaza! Things are getting very dire and she has asked me once again to relay her story to you in the hopes that you will be able to help her and her family.
Amani is a 32 year old mother of 3 boys. Originally from the north of Gaza, their home was completely taken away from them by Israeli bombardment and they were forced to evacuate to the south.
Currently, Amani's family has had to evacuate 5 times and is forced to live in a tent with even the barest necessities unavailable to them. Her children are deprived of nutritious food and clean water as well as medicine and healthcare. And everyday they are at risk of losing their lives whether it is to illness or to the Israeli heavy artillery.

DON'T SCROLL. SAVE HANI'S FAMILY

Hani is less than half-way to his goal, and urgently needs to evacuate his family. Hani's house was destroyed on October 13th, and since then, his family has been displaced, living in tents.
On September 15th, his father lost his life due to the attack on Al-Shifa Hospital. Because of this terrible injustice, Hani is now the only hope for saving his family - which consists of 10 members: his sisters (which includes two toddlers: a 2 and 3 year old), 3 minors, and his 18-year-old brother.
Hani currently lives in Belgium. He left Gaza for Italy to represent Palestine in a skate competition - but his life has been completely transformed since then. He lost his father, his home, and now he is in constant fear that he will lose the rest of his family. At 23 years old, this is one of the most stressful positions a person could ever be in.
Help Hani's family survive by donating to their evacuation fund. The smallest donation will make the biggest difference. We can all pitch in. If you cannot donate, you should absolutely spread the word.

Dear Reader,
I am Dr. Mohammed Aldeeb, a dedicated medical professional specializing in emergency care, hailing from the Gaza Strip. For years, I poured my heart and soul into my work at Al-Shifa Hospital, tending to the wounded and the ailing with compassion and skill.

However, the ravages of war tore through our lives, forcing me to abandon my cherished home and the familiar walls of the hospital where I once found solace.

Leaving behind the echoes of laughter and camaraderie, I embarked on a painful journey southward, bidding farewell to the streets where I grew up, the corners where I sought refuge, and the colleagues who felt like family. Memories of my formative years and the countless lives I touched during my tenure at Al-Shifa and other medical facilities flooded my mind, as I struggled to come to terms with the sudden upheaval.

Despite the adversities that besieged me, I persevered in my pursuit of healing. My determination led me to Al-Azhar University, where I embraced the role of a teaching assistant, imparting knowledge to aspiring medical students with unwavering dedication. Dreams of specializing in internal medicine beckoned me back to Al-Shifa Hospital, but alas, the brutal onslaught of war reduced it to rubble, shattering my aspirations in its wake.

In the chaos and carnage of conflict, I sustained injuries, and the sanctuary of my home was obliterated, leaving my family and me destitute and displaced. Yet, amid the ruins, a flicker of hope persists. At Al-Aqsa Hospital, I continue to extend a helping hand to those in need, drawing strength from the resilience instilled in me through years of education and service.

Today, we find ourselves sheltering in a humble tent, stripped of our possessions and livelihoods. The loss of my job, my home, and the comforting presence of my loved ones weighs heavily on my heart. Nevertheless, I refuse to surrender to despair, clinging to the belief that brighter days lie ahead.

It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to you, dear reader, seeking assistance in securing safe passage for myself and my family from the turmoil of Gaza. With your kindness and generosity, I hope to reclaim the path to realizing my medical vocation, enabling me to provide for my loved ones and contribute to the healing of our wounded world.

Your compassionate aid would mean the world to me and my family.
With gratitude and hope,
Dr. Mohammed Aldeeb
