these are canon ‼️‼️ if i may,,,, perchance my own headcanons? :3
- neil, charlie, knox and meeks genuinely like grocery shopping. they just like going to whatever store and buying things okay?? theyre like curious kids/dogs
- meeks and todd argue about cuisine ALL the time because one of them's italian and the other's french. one of them wants to make french onion soup and the other wants to make pasta. they usually compromise by making something spanish, to charlie's delight
- everyone can "cook" to some degree,,, todd, cameron and meeks are arguably the best cooks; charlie and neil are okay,,, they can cook some good meals but usually its kind of meh; and knox and pitts are NOT allowed in the kitchen unless its to bake
- speaking of baking - pitts and neil are the designated bakers, meaning that they always run off (with the cart) to the flour section and other baking aisles and spend so much time in there,,,, its a good thing meeks and cameron are good at holding a lot of stuff!! pitts and neil have definitely gotten in trouble for accidentally breaking a bag of flour and spilling it EVERYWHERE
- do not let any of these mfs in the treats/sweets aisle. neil is always like "oh we cant its not in our budget" but charlie "fancy pants rich mcgee" dalton ALWAYS has money for sweet treats. they always regret buying so many but they also regret NOT buying any so... better more than none, amiright?
- knox, cameron and todd believe in the whole "shopping when youre hungry", meeks and neil dont, and pitts and charlie do believe it but dont care and shop hungry anyway. almost even distribution
- they always refuse to get a shopping cart at first but then when everyone has atleast 15 things piled into their hands they FINALLY admit defeat and send someone to get the shopping cart. this happens every shopping trip
- meeks insists on going to the self checkout because she LOVES scanning the items and loves the way it beeps when she scans them - she also really likes finding the barcode. all the other poets let her because shes faster than all the cashiers and it allows her to shoplift (she only ever does it with pastries and non-barcode items and ALWAYS gets away with it)
- charlie and meeks are chronic shoplifters you can fight me on this. are they the richest and third richest friends in the friend group respectively? yes. do they hate big corporations with a burning passion? also yes! also meeks likes the thrill
- todd has managed to sneak into the back/staff rooms to check something because he was too shy to ask for help. somehow didnt get caught??
- pitts, hard of hearing king, has accidentally ignored a stranger asking him to get something off the high shelf multiple times. todd always does it for him and usually gets an absurd amount of money out of it - which always goes towards new foods eversone is scared to try
- todd and meeks may be the designated cooks but they are NOT the designated meal planners because they only want to cook/eat the same five things so charlie and knox, the only ones brave enough to switch it up, have to meal plan for them. all the other poets are on todd and meeks' side but usually end up enjoying the food charlie and knox planned
- god forbid they go in there without a shopping list. they will come out with a cart full of things they will NOT need or eat.
- meeks, neil and pitts have a wandering problem and always, without fail, get lost even though they go to the same grocery store every single time. cameron has taken to a) herding them in like a damn shepherd/sheepdog, or, in meeks' case since she gets lost in a way no one will ever find her again, b) hold her by the hand/shirt collar so she cant get lost
- speaking of cameron, they always talk about eating healthy and not eating too many sweet things and stuff but then will disregard all of that when they see any sort of cereal bar
- they are all SUCH picky eaters with the rare exception of charlie and pitts (who will eat judt about anything) and a little bit of knox. shopping is a struggle when theyre trying to find something that everyone will eat, especially when, for example, half of the group loves cashews, walnuts, etc (neil, pitts, charlie); the other half hates them (todd, knox, cameron); and one person genuinely gets physically ill at the mere thought of them (meeks) (im projecting i literally got ill as i was writing this)
- trust neil to always look for the cheapest option and everyone else to quietly, but quickly disregard that. hell be looking at the cheapest option when todd comes over, takes it from him, puts it back, and puts a nicer, but more expensive, version of the food in the shopping cart. neil always tries to complain but in the end it allows him to walk out of the store without a single dent in his budget sooo,,,
- all of the poets have been caught making out in the grocery store at least once. whoops
- charlie is technically banned from the grocery store but the owner agreed that as long as hes under adult supervision (read: with cameron, todd or neil at all times) hes allowed in
- they get approached by SOOO many karens everytime they enter the store for multiple different reasons,,, some reasons they've been approached/yelled at by a karen:
- meeks was using her crutches (she has hypermobility and her knee joints SUCK)
- they were talking too loudly
- they were wearing/using/buying something that indicated they were queer
- charlie bought a playboy magazine
- they bought the last of something
- and much more!!!
this is all i can think of in the moment ‼️‼️ sorry for making it so long i got a lil carried away teehee =))
i went grocery shopping with all my roommates today and it was absolute chaos and the only thing i could think was how it would be for all the poets <3

DPS BOYS CELEBRATING YOUR BIRTHDAY
(today is my birthday, so birthday related hyperfixation post, I couldn’t help it)
Neil: My man Neil gets you a birthday card and forces everybody in existence to sign it.
“Who the hell is Greg?”
“Some guy I passed on the street this morning.” :D
He also gets you a paper crown and urges you to wear it the entire day. (social anxiety fears this man). If anyone makes fun of you they will get cussed out by Charlie. Neil buys an extra present, because he already knows that Charlie will be too busy (it happens every time).
Charlie: Charlie goes all out and starts planning a party a month in advance. This man loves to party and will look for any excuse to do so. It is held in the cave and it is the best party you will ever have. As for the present, he’s too busy planning the party so the present that Neil buys you is from the both of them.
Todd: When he first sees you he wishes you the shyest ‘happy birthday’ you’ve ever heard, honestly it’s adorable. He just enjoys the day because he likes seeing you happy. At the party he gives you your gift: a poem he wrote and a bunch of cool little trinkets he bought. Todd is very nervous that you don’t like it (you love it, this man is a master at picking gifts) and he will die if you read the poem out loud in front of the others.
Knox: Kinda guy to text you as soon as midnight hits, then be super proud of himself because he was the first one to wish you happy birthday. Him and Todd go shopping a week beforehand. Then at the party he gives you the present (it’s either one of those cursed thrift shop T-shirts or a book that Todd helped pick him out).
Pitts: Definitely in charge of the music at the party, I headcanon that Pittsie has the best music taste known to man. As a present he gives you a mixtape with songs that you like, songs that remind him of you and just general vibey songs.
Meeks & Cameron: They team for a birthday vlog (like dead poets in nyc) with Meeks as the narrator and Cameron as the cameraman. They also film the preparations for the party and the shopping with Todd and Knox. They ‘interview’ Mr. Keating who gives a heartfelt birthday speech. Also they are definitely next to your bedside to wake you up and sing the worst rendition of happy birthday you’ve ever heard. Queue Knox who comes in to tell them he was first.
DPS BOYS ON HOLIDAY
Neil: Neil likes to go on city trips. He goes to museums and will spend more time in the gift shop than the actual museums. But he just loves walking around in cities he doesn’t know, like casual sightseeing. He’s not super into it, but he definitely enjoys it. In restaurants he will definitely talk to the waiters and asking them questions about the area, this gets Todd really flustered.
Charlie: Charlie is an all-in resort man. He goes to a resort for two weeks with his parents every year somewhere by the Mediterranean. All he does on holiday is go to the beach, drink an insane amount from the hotel bars and flirt with every person his age he sees there. He does the little move where he slowly pulls his sunglasses down and winks at the person he’s flirting with. It’s his signature move and it works every time.
Todd: Todd prefers resorts. He likes a holiday where he can just relax and doesn’t stress constantly (v anxious boy). All he does is sunbathe and go on walks along the beach. He does NOT go swimming, unless someone forces him to. He hates swimming in public.
Knox: Knox doesn’t really have a preference between a relaxing holiday and an active holiday. As long as there is food, he’s happy. He’s the kind of guy to go on holiday somewhere just for the food. Takes way too long at restaurants and wants to stop at every ice cream shop they pass. He always has food but miraculously doesn’t gain any weight because he has a really high metabolism (I wish).
Pitts: You can take Pitts almost anywhere, but he is incapable of sitting still. This man must have something to do. When he’s at a resort he’ll constantly be walking around, exploring every nook and cranny. During city trips he likes to see everything and walks very fast. But since he’s so tall and has got very long legs, he walks really fast. So he always has to wait on the others.
Meeks: Meeks isn’t one for a ‘relaxing day by the beach’ holiday, this man LOVES city trips. Especially if it’s old cities with a lot of history. He loves going on guided tours and always holds up the tour by asking the tour guide extra questions. He is determined to see EVERYTHING there is to see. Meeks will also be the one booking the activities beforehand and planning everything.
Cameron: Cameron prefers city trips. He likes making memories and seeing new places. This is why he takes millions of pictures everywhere they go. Like they have to stop every five minutes because this man needs multiple pictures from multiple angles. When he gets back from the trip his storage will be full. Then devotes a day to filtering out all of his pictures.
dead poets' society modern(ish) headcanons
Most of these are school related because I'm going back to college next week. (most of these are things my friends or I have done.)
Todd:
has definitely written fanfiction for his creative writing assignments in English.
definitely has a semi-popular poetry account on TikTok/tumblr
Enters his poetry/writing into competitions and stuff when he gets a little bit more confident

Eats the most heinous food combinations like beacon and fish finger sandwiches, just the most questionable foods.
Neil:
Has walked into the set during a show because he had to perform without his glasses.

Kissed Todd for the first time during the intermission of one of his plays and was so flustered after he almost missed his cue.
Charlie:

Him and Cameron actively hate each other but outright refuse to be separated from each other.
Has been kicked out of Assembly multiple times.

He was sat next to Charlie in every lesson in year nine for that exact reason.
This quickly changed when Charlie started to influence Cameron instead of the other way round.

Almost flooded his bathroom after trying to see if he could use oil to plug his sink.
Can’t swim but can hold his breath underwater for 2 minutes

Loves halloween, plans his and Pitts duo costumes months in advance.
