Solas and Fenuven Lavellan ♡ Golden Hour
i have a headcanon that the dalish have a fun holiday called fen'vallan - wolf's dusk. the idea of this holiday is "we haven't been fucked over by the dread wolf yet! yay! also beware of him"
i like to imagine the inner circle visiting clan lavellan regarding some Important Mission and they get invited to fen'vallan
solas is nervous. really nervous. lavellan assumes he's anxious about making a good first impression on her family (with him being her lover and all)
he has to sit there while the keeper talks shit about him and warns everyone about an individual that vaguely resembles him. and he can't be that mad about it all, especially when they say stuff like "the dread wolf is deceitful and sneaky" while he's right there. being deceitful and sneaky
classic solas behavior. exquisite

I didn't want to romance Solas at first bc of all the angst but the more I played the more I realized how fucked up the inquisitor Lavellan is even without romancing Solas. Especially in case of a mage...It feels like the game is punishing you for siding with mages and elves or being one yourself. Your companions don't like you, you lose your faith, your entire history is one big lie, you can even lose your entire clan. Both the mage rebellion and the dalish are constantly demonized. You have to listen to racist or pro templar bullshit. No one understands you except for Solas who leaves in the end. I gave his romance another try and oh god. This is like ultimate loneliness and isolation. I had no idea why would someone like Solas fall in love with a modern elf but now I know why. Because Lavellan is like the only one who can see a real person in him. In modern Thedas, he is nothing but another pair of pointy ears. An apostate. An elven hobo. During the days of ancient elves he was nothing but a title. The Dread Wolf. A symbol, not a real person. And literally the same thing can be applied to Lavellan who is being crushed by the weight of their title. Who is being devoured by the narrative until there is nothing left of them. They are so alike, damn. Inquisition companions mostly act like a group of coworkers and Solas doesn't trust even his own agents (hi Felassan). The game ridicules a player for certain opinions and Solas conditionally says he was called a liar, a fool, a madman by both his enemies and his allies alike for trying to share his knowledge. I used to think Solas romance was kinda empty and unsatisfying and holy shit how wrong I was. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Solavellan to me is about finally finding a person who understands you under the shittiest circumstances possible after accepting that you will probably die alone. And then...Being completely destroyed by your own sense of duty. With all the Solas hate in this fandom I kinda forgot he actually...Cares about Lavellan? It wasn't an easy decision to leave. And it was even harder for Solas to not let Lavellan join his cause. He had to get rid of his own humanity for the sake of other elves and he doesn't want his vhenan to do the same. And the most tragic thing about this, that there is not much humanity left of Lavellan anyway. They are tired and lost and alone. Inquisition has changed them, they can't go back and pretend that nothing happened. They are not the same person they used to be. Solas greatest fear is dying alone but in the end of the game my Lavellan felt like they are the one who is slowly dying alone.
Also Solas is bisexual to me I don`t care what bioware say.
raise your hand if you thought solas was “silly bald pajama elf” when they first showed him to us but now you can’t stop thinking about the cute points of his ears and his kind eyes and his full soft lips and his smooth voice and that little scar just above his eyebrow
Y’know the more I think about it, I really don’t like the twist regarding the elven gods in Inquisition
Solas’s pompous attitude re: the Dalish the whole game is really annoying (esp when playing as a Dalish) and the twist feels like it grants his views some legitimacy, because in a way, he’s right (he’s technically correct that the Dalish have lost their old ways and don’t fully understand their own history, but he’s not morally in the right).
I know the game did a similar thing with the Maker, with Corypheus claiming to have seen the seat of the Maker and finding it empty, but I still don’t like the twist of “the elven gods weren’t real gods, they were just mages and also slavers.” It feels like a “fuck you” to the Dalish, who didn’t need to be taken down a peg.
It also means (as I’ve seen someone else point out) that the two important examples we know about of mage-ruled societies (the ancient elves and Tevinter) were/are also societies that ran on slavery. Mages, like the Dalish, also did not need to be taken down a peg. There didn’t need to be another example of “mages bad.”
I just can’t help but to wonder if we *really* needed the “the Dalish’s beliefs are basically all lies” twist.
Dragon Age: Inquisition The Wrath of Heaven
They said you... stepped out of a rift, then fell unconscious. They say a woman was in the rift behind you. No one knows who she was.
I've finally finished my Dread Wolf tarot embroidery from Dragon Age Inquisition! Clocking in at 64 hours of work, it measures 11.5 X 19.5 cm and I've been chipping away it during my downtime at work. My fellow community council members on Dragon Age: The Veilguard may have been biased while helping me choose which character's card to do, but I'm so grateful they did because it was so much fun to work on, and so different from the previous ones.
This is my fourth large Dragon Age character card project, and the first one I started since I uprooted everything to train as a costumer. Having a portable yet elaborate project was comforting while travelling for new experiences.
Now, who's excited for the new game later this year?!
A little something to last me until the reunion 💕😩
"is this another dream, Solas?"
"No, vhenan. I'm here, and I will never let you go again."
Bioware I am begging you for the reunion 🥺💔 (If you want to see the spicy version, it's up on the bird app)
“I keep having this dream, that Solas has come back, the mark is gone, and we’re just… happy. And when I wake, I wonder if it’s him, reaching out to me through the fade and trying to apologize the only way he knows how.”
To be fair, I do romance Cullen as a mage from time to time to at least give one of them a happy ending
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I've never wanted to learn embroidery so badly
Embroidery progress video for my Solas tarot project (x), referencing his character art from Dragon Age: Inquisition. 64 hours work, 11.5 x 19.5 cm. Enjoy!
This is a slightly longer video than the one from my tiktok. At some point I'll make a stitch explanation like I did with my Sera card.

The long awaited Solavellan one shot "Dream Walkers" is now live over on AO3! If you like Solas and smut, be sure to check it out ❤️
My love, are you the devil?
I would worship you instead of him
I have no time for confession
For I'm too busy committing sins
