all the soulmate pairs in my nature lives au
Katherine & Shelby: it's the nature wives, of course they're paired. they're the most solid bond in the server because they paired up for both 3rd and Last Life, so this is nothing new for them. they're the last pair left alive and they finish their season by each drinking a potion of poison at the same time.
False & Stress: somewhat a struggling pair, because False killed Stress in the final battle of 3rd Life. once they get that worked out though, they're pretty tight, and they end up with one of the most impressive builds on the server
Jojo & Netty: !! my favorites actually, they're very sweet. both of them are struggling with the Watcher stuff because Netty's from Evo and Jojo won the previous game. they decide they don't care about this season and just live pretty domestically like the ranchers did.
Pearl & Gem: shiny duooo absolutely dominate this season. both of them are risk takers and they split up often to be efficient, but bond wise, they're inseparable. it's impossible to make them distrust each other but they certainly try to do that to the other soulbonds
Sqaishey & Stacy: platonic wives, they know they're not the strongest pvpers so they try to leverage monopolies instead. before they've even got iron tools they have hidden farms for every animal.
Pris & Cleo: the most contentious pair. they fight all the time and disagree on everything, but if Cleo hears anybody trash talk Pris at any point, they will jump in the conversation and set them straight.
Eloise & Lizzie: anthropology girls. they take notes on every other team in order to find weaknesses and they WILL be fake snobby about it. they're out first but it's okay because they had a good time
falstress soulmate meeting
“False! False, ello, wait up!”
Her blood paused its circulation, freezing her spine and halting her in her tracks. False was tackling one of the many mountains in the area, hauling herself over the cascades of rock. She hadn’t exactly been looking below her, and she nearly jumped out of her skin when Stress called her name.
“Waiting,” she replied, settling back on one of the larger boulders. She pressed her body as far as possible from the ledge. Normally, it wouldn’t scare her so much, but having a soulmate made everything that much more terrifying. False wouldn’t let someone else down by dying immediately. She quite literally owed them her life, whoever it may be.
Stress reached the same point within a few minutes, hardly out of breath as she flashed a smile to False. Her windblown hair curled around her ears and reached for her eyes. False tried very hard not to reach over and tuck it back.
“I’m interviewin’ everyone out and about, and you’re next on my list, lucky you.” Stress’s smile didn’t drop; rather, it fell into a natural grin. Her eyes sparkled like sunlight on the ocean. They always did that, even in the dark—the moon and the stars sought her out just to reflect her brightness, False was sure. It was the only explanation.
False blinked. “Okay . . . ?”
Stress clasped her hands in front of her cardigan, regarding her seriously. “This is a necessary evil, jus’ so you know.”
Without further ado, she punched False right in the shoulder.
Both of them sucked in a gasp of air. False windmilled, grasping for the face of the rock. Her arm stung like hell as she grabbed on. Stress, meanwhile, touched a disbelieving finger to her own shoulder, surprise slowly morphing into delight.
“I think that means we’re soulmates, then,” she said, voice tinged with wonder. The revelation only made False’s instinct to pull the other girl in, away from the ledge and under her arm, stronger.
“I think it means you shouldn’t have hit me over a hundred foot drop, actually.” False steadied herself, brushing off her arm. She returned Stress’s infectious smile. “Step one, make it to the top. Step two, figure this out?”
Stress, incredibly, shone even more. “I’ll race ya!” she called, already jamming a foot in a slit in the cliff face, propelling herself to the next ledge. False stared, caught off guard. She was content to let her soulmate win for now. Her quiet smile continued tugging at the edges of her mouth.
She could do this with Stress. She might even try to make it to the final few, if it meant Stress would make it with her. For the first time in too long, False had something definitive she wanted. Stress wouldn’t have to experience pain when she was bound to her, that, she would promise.
