How I think each of the s1 and s2 Empires characters would react to seeing each other.
False is kinda terrified of Pearl, but overall thinks she's cool. Pearl wants False to be her new sparring buddy (like, the woman built a machine to murder giant hunks of metal and wears clothes she pilfered from a corpse, of course Pearl would love her). False doesnt understand that this is a statement of affection and is even more terrified.
The Scotts are just the 'Misery and CPR' meme. Elf Scott keeps talking about his demon brother and tragic backstoryTM, and the Chromia king just goes "oh yea a magic skull stole my eyeball and a wizard gave me a new one.' Eventually they start talking about their bfs and become friends ('my husband rescued me from a dungeon so I built him a cave full of his favorite things' 'nice. My boyfriend just shows up randomly and gives me wood').
The Jimmys absolutely confuse the hell out of each other. The Codfather just off-handedly talks about his traumatic past in between bouts of how awesome his sister and brother-in-law are. He's a god and totally unbothered by it, while the Sheriff keeps grumbling about God calling him a toy when he is Not A Toy. They introduce each other to the other Norman.
The Sausages just point at each other like the spiderman meme. They joke about their trauma while still smiling. They coo over Bubbles together. The protector of Sanctuary talks about Eddie and Hermes. The king of Mythland talks about his little siblings and how much he loves them; he also mentions his best friend who sounds suspiciously similar to the sunflower goddess...
The Joels HATE each other. God Joel keeps making fun of the Mad King for being short and made of clay and he just laughs his ass off, doesnt acknowledge him, and rants about how amazing his fish wife is. God Joel feels insecure and angry, the Mad King is offended because someone is ignore how AMAZING AND WONDERFUL his wife is.
The Pixls have a wonderful afternoon drinking and spilling tea. They discuss philosphy and history, they lovingly make fun of Jimmy, they compliment each other's empires.
Shrub and Shelby are instant friends. Shrub is kinda scared of Shelby because witches could mean bad news, but Shelby instantly introduces Tortoise and all goes well. They talk about their different magic, Shelby gives a whole bundle of potions to the wolves. They talk about how cute Katherine is and mom-friend Joey.
The Joeys respect each other. They arent that close, but they think each other are cool. They fight over if Katherine or Xornoth is better; neither wins but they have fun coming up with compliments for the people they like (they also talk as if said objects of affection love them back).
The Katherines go monster hunting together. Overgrown Katherine talks about her awesome gnome gf. Glimmer Grove Katherine complains about her suitor that cant seem to understand that she isnt a pirate.
At first, the fWhips bond over chaos and destruction. 'I put wardens in half the server's bases to thank them for coming to my wedding' 'I created a ravine.' All goes well until Jimmy gets brought up. Count fWhip complains about the whole 'board of dead salmon' thing, and Goblin fWhip jumps to his defense. They get into a big ol fight and make up a little while later.
The Gems, while amicable, dont really like each other. Wizard Gem thinks Princess Gem's a scardy cat, and Princess Gem thinks Wizard Gem is too intense and a little scary. They do have fun talking about fWhip and Sausage though.
Mayor Lizzie is both a little intimidated by the ocean enpress, and also thinks she's super cool. She's an actual strong, tall, powerful god (unlike the one from Stratos). She is a little scary, though, cause of the army of axolotls and the whole water thing. The ocean empress thinks she's nice (and kinda funny); Mayor Lizzie really reminds her of her friend with his empire of cats before he got corrupted...

summary: Shelby overworks herself so Katherine helps out.
“Shelby!” Katherine called while climbing up the ladder to get to Shelby’s bedroom. “Hm,” Shelby turned around in her chair reluctantly, “oh hi Kath.” When Katherine got up the ladder she looked around the room first. The lights were dim and Tortoise was sleeping peacefully in Shelby’s bed. Her eyes dragged over to Shelby because of a lamp she had on. There were coffee mugs and papers strewn over her desk. When her eyes landed on Shelby she immediately got worried. Shelby looked almost like a corpse.
She had dark eye bags and and was pale. “Shelby are you okay?” She asked. She walked over to Shelby and immediately put her hand on Shelby’s forehead. Luckily she wasn’t sick but still wasn’t doing too good. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” Shelby blushed a bit at the sudden touch of Katherine’s hand but immediately shook away the thought. “Shelby. You need sleep and food now,” She got up and headed for the ladder, “I’m going to make me and you some food but try and get some rest in the mean time, okay?” Shelby slowly nodded regretting it afterward. I’ll have to do so much work I should just not listen and keep writing- No. She had to listen to Katherine. So Shelby turned off the lamp and limped over to her bed.
After laying down she immediately fell asleep. When she woke up it was because Katherine had made pancakes. She pulled herself up and rubbed her eyes. Next, she grabbed a plate from Katherine and started to eat. It tasted amazing. “Do you know the time Katherine?” She asked and looked over. Katherine had a pancake stuffed in her mouth but quickly bit off a piece and swallowed responding with, “2:13 am!”
“Also, I think I might not be able to make it back to Glimmer Grove without waking up a lot of people so could I stay here for the rest of the night and some of the morning?” Katherine asked, afterwards finishing her pancake. Shelby face turned bright red hearing her question but stammered out, “Yeah! Yeah you could sleep on the couch downstairs or the floor or even my bed with me if you wanted to but whatever you want to do is fine-“ Katherine cut her off, “Since your bed is pretty big could I sleep there with you?” “Yes you could,” Shelby responded while looking away still blushing a LOT. “Thank you!”
After putting up the plates from the very early breakfast she returned upstairs. She found a fast asleep Shelby when she got by the bed. After getting under the covers she whispered, “Good night.” Then placed a light kiss on Shelby’s forehead before going to sleep herself.
A letter of betrayal Chapter 1
Second fic and first long fic Quick summary: What if the witches do some magic and Katherine found Shelby’s expulsion letter?
-Chapter 1-
Shelby froze, her eyes fixed on four words on the letter. Expelled from the academy, the words were stuck in her mind. She thought about showing Katherine the letter but decided against it. She felt like a puppet while walking to the portal. Then to the edge of a cliff. Then dropping the letter. Then walking back home. Turns out the letter was fireproof and while walking through the lava on a strider one day Katherine found it.
While Katherine was just riding around on a strider she saw something peculiar. In the lava there was a barely visible piece of paper. She grabbed a fire resistance potion she brought with her that she bought from Shelby the day before. She chugged it before tossing it in the lava and sticking her hand in to grab the paper. Once she got it out of the lava she put it in her backpack deciding to read it when she got home.
When Katherine got home it had already gotten to 9:00pm/21:00 because she left at 7:00pm/19:00. She was going to go to bed after reading the paper she found so she first changed into some pajamas. Afterwards she grabbed the paper from her bag and lied down on her bed. She unrolled the paper and read it.
Dear Lower Witch Shelby,
The Great Witches Academy has become aware of an incident in the Evermoore regarding you bumping the entirety of reality into a parallel universe through simple potion making. The Council of Witches has met and come to the conclusion that to allow you to practice magic any further would be a danger to society.
Thus, we regret to inform you that you are effectively expelled from the academy. As you know, witches that fail at the academy are practicing any form of magic EVER AGAIN.
Please cease any and all spells and potion making for any resident of the area and inform them of your status. We ask that you take the next train home and report back to the academy immediately to turn in your hat and wand. You are no longer a witch.

Katherine just stared at the letter as questions swirled in her mind.
Why did she say she was a great witch? What do they mean by bumping a reality? Why should she be expelled and not allowed to use magic?
Why does she have to return her hat and wand?

-Chapter 2-
After waking up the next morning Katherine immediately changed into some comfy clothes and headed to Shelby’s house. She was a bit rusty on her elytra because for a while she was either not flying or flying with Shelby on her broom. After landing in the Evermoore her boots she put on for the trip immediately got mud splatted on them. She didn’t mind it and ran for Shelby’s front door. She threw open the door and yelled Shelby’s name.
Shelby woke up the same way she had woken up the last few days. Thinking about the letter from the academy. The only difference is that she heard Katherine yell her name. She quickly hopped downstairs even though she looked terrible. All she had on was a pair of cargo pants and a binder. “Katherine?” She said as soon as Katherine came into view. Katherine looked over to her and she looked furious but also kinda concerned.
Katherine was wearing a dark green hoodie with a flower on it and jeans with dark brown boots that had mud on them. “SHELBY WHAT THE-“ “Are you okay Katherine?” Shelby interrupted her because she was worried about her now. Then Katherine pulled out a piece of paper with writing on it. Shelby read some of it and recognized it as the letter
“K-Katherine, I-“ “Shelby why didn’t you tell us?! What did you do!?” Katherine was tearing up now. “Katherine, p-please, let me talk. I can make us some tea a-and we can talk upstairs ok?” “Ok, but can I make the tea? It will help me calm down.” Katherine asked while wiping away tears. “Yeah, I’ll head upstairs now.” She climbed up the ladder while holding in tears herself.
After about 4 minutes Katherine came up holding a cup of herbal tea. “I’m not thirsty so I only made you one,” Katherine mumbled. Shelby hadn’t noticed her yet so was a bit spooked by her. She took the cup of tea when Katherine offered it to her and took a sip before setting on her bedside. She was sitting on her bed while Katherine headed to sit in the chair at Shelby’s desk. “You can lay on my bed with me,” Shelby blurted out. She immediately regretted it and lied on her bed while blushing some.
“Shelby, I can’t trust you right now,” she sat down, “so no. I’m sorry.” Shelby frowned a bit and sat back up, sighing. “Is it okay if I ask questions about this… letter?” She asked while glancing at the letter. “Sure,” Shelby sadly responded. “Ok, thank you. First, why did you say you were a great witch even though this says you’re a lower witch?” “I wanted all of you to respect me more.” Shelby started to fiddle with the blanket while she was talking. “We would have respected you anyways Shelby. “Ok, next, what does the letter mean by ‘bumping a reality’?””I destroyed my house then accidentally brought everyone to a reality where my house existed.” She responded quickly. She was looking down in shame while now squeezing the blanket she was sitting on. Katherine was staring at her head now because she couldn’t see her eyes.
“Ok, uh, um, why do you have to give in your hat and wand?” “So that I can no longer appear as a witch.” Shelby was starting to shake now. Katherine had noticed and was looking at her with a lot of worry. “Final question now, ok? Why didn’t you tell us?” Shelby knew this question was coming but it still hit her like a bullet. “B-because I didn’t want to appear w.. weak and s-stupid and all that.” She was crying now and covering her face with her hands.
Katherine dropped the letter and rushed over to Shelby. “Shelby your not stupid and weak. The dimension thing is a bit weird but no normal witch could do that by accident.” She said while wiping Shelby’s tears. “Only a really strong witch can do that. You are the strongest witch I have ever known and will ever know.” She hugged Shelby and just let Shelby sit their and cry into her shoulder for who knows how long.

-Chapter 3-
The next day Shelby woke up laying her head on Katherine’s chest by the foot of her bed with Katherine’s arms on her back. She felt her face heating up but stayed still to keep Katherine from waking up. She remembered last night and guessed at some point she and Katherine fell asleep like that. She nuzzled her head into the crook of Katherine’s neck before she then fell back asleep.
She woke up again and found Katherine tapping and her head and quietly whispering for her to wake up. “Good morning Shelby,” she whispers louder than before. “G’mornin Kath,” Shelby yawned out. “Do you want me to go downstairs and make cereal?” “Yeah,” Shelby once again lazily responded. “Well then you should get a new pillow because right now your laying on me,” Shelby’s face turned a bright red as Katherine giggled and held Shelby up above her. She sat up and laid Shelby down against the pillow.
Before getting downstairs Shelby said from the bed,”You know you don’t have to make food whenever you come over here, right?” “Hm,” Katherine shrugged,”I like cooking and because of my chefs I can’t really do it in my empire. Also not to be mean but your food doesn’t taste the best.” “Hey!” Shelby shouted from the bed as Katherine laughed while climbing down the ladder. Shelby sighed before getting up and putting on a beige-brown sweater with fluffy black pants. She headed downstairs after walking to the ladder.
“Hello Kath,” She said while jumping off the ladder. “Good morning again Shelby, I made both of us some bowls of cereal. I see you put a shirt on,” she said the last part as she gestured to Shelby’s chest. Shelby immediately blushed a lot and rushed to the table to start eating and Katherine giggled. “Must you leave so soon?” Shelby asked in a whiny tone. “Well I have a kingdom to run and maybe you could visit sometime.” She smiled at Shelby, “Speaking of leaving could you fly me back on your broom? I’ve gotten a bit rusty on my elytra.” “ Oh yeah of course! I’d love to.”
They then proceeded to finish eating before going to Glimmer Grove. The end I guess lol.

The Royal Gala
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve made any Empires SMP art, so have this 15 hour piece I did as soon as I saw the new Minecraft skins <33
It started with a comment about Katherine.
Shubble and Joey were… not exactly getting along, but coexisting. Playful bickering, as usual, but with less fistfighting.
They were working on a school project in Shubble's house.
Joey and Shubble weren't friends. Everybody knew that. Even if they did hang out a lot, those hangouts almost always started or ended in a fight. But they were doing better this time. They were fighting, of course, but not a FISTfight. Just bickering.
Until Joey made a comment on how Katherine was going to marry him when they were adults. Of course Shubble couldn't let that slide! Katherine had made it clear that she wasn't ready to date them yet. So their bickering devolved into an argument. And the argument devolved into, well…
Shubble straddling Joey, one fist gripping Joey's shirt and holding him up and the other fist raised and knuckles bloody, ready to punch. Her nose was bleeding and the side of her jaw was swelling. Her ribs were sore from an earlier kick.
Joey had his hands around her neck, applying a not damaging amount of pressure, but enough to threaten and leave a bruise. His eye was swollen shut and his grin was filled with blood. His ankle was being crushed by Shubble's foot and was rapidly bruising.
A drop of blood from Shubble's nose dripped onto Joey's face. Shubble stared at it in surprise, dropping the fist and swiping at her nose.
"...huh." she rasped when the hand came back bloody. "I guess even assholes can get a good enough hit."
At that Joey started laughing. He dropped his hands from her neck to curl in on himself with laughter. Shubble joined his laughter, snorting and falling backwards with a slight wince at the pain in her ribs.
"... wanna play Mario kart?" Joey ventured when his laughter faded.
Shubble snorted again and stood up, helping him up. "Sure. Let's wash off our literally bloody hands before we grab a controller though, huh dipshit?"
The project laid abandoned on the table, half done as Joey and Shubble played the game with their clean and bandaged hands grasping the steering wheel controllers.
That's what Katherine walked in on. Her two best friends/half partners bleeding and bruised playing fucking Mario kart! While still actively bleeding!

hello tumblr I'm currently brainrotting about my own au so expect to hear more about nature wives in the life series soon
all the soulmate pairs in my nature lives au
Katherine & Shelby: it's the nature wives, of course they're paired. they're the most solid bond in the server because they paired up for both 3rd and Last Life, so this is nothing new for them. they're the last pair left alive and they finish their season by each drinking a potion of poison at the same time.
False & Stress: somewhat a struggling pair, because False killed Stress in the final battle of 3rd Life. once they get that worked out though, they're pretty tight, and they end up with one of the most impressive builds on the server
Jojo & Netty: !! my favorites actually, they're very sweet. both of them are struggling with the Watcher stuff because Netty's from Evo and Jojo won the previous game. they decide they don't care about this season and just live pretty domestically like the ranchers did.
Pearl & Gem: shiny duooo absolutely dominate this season. both of them are risk takers and they split up often to be efficient, but bond wise, they're inseparable. it's impossible to make them distrust each other but they certainly try to do that to the other soulbonds
Sqaishey & Stacy: platonic wives, they know they're not the strongest pvpers so they try to leverage monopolies instead. before they've even got iron tools they have hidden farms for every animal.
Pris & Cleo: the most contentious pair. they fight all the time and disagree on everything, but if Cleo hears anybody trash talk Pris at any point, they will jump in the conversation and set them straight.
Eloise & Lizzie: anthropology girls. they take notes on every other team in order to find weaknesses and they WILL be fake snobby about it. they're out first but it's okay because they had a good time
third life in the nature lives au
alliances!!!!
Shelby & Katherine: they live in one of the small dark oak forests on the map and give out mushroom stew as a silly trade. they throw their lot in with the witch's alliance and use potions quite a lot as well, and for the most part they just try to avoid being on anyone's bad side. Shelby does tend to pick fights with the other faction however and Katherine attempts damage control
Sqaishey, Netty, Stacy, and Lizzie: honestly this is the 2010s era alliance. they find a hill and make it as defensible as possible with lava and cactus, but they reject every other offer of alliance. because of this they don't make it super far and everyone raids their base
Pris, Eloise, & Cleo: the witch's alliance. they mainly deal in potions and enchants, so their base is a giant tower with many dispenser/pressure plate traps loaded with slowness + poison on the way up. their closest allies are Shelby and Katherine, and they share most of their resources with them
Jojo & Pearl: THE powerhouse. they take the desert and use the gravity mechanic of sand to their advantage. they're big pvpers so they don't do traps as much as they build an "arena" in the desert that they can use for the upper hand in battles. they're one of the big factions this season because of how dangerous they are, although Jojo takes it more seriously and Pearl is bigger on pranks
Gem, False, & Stress: they settle on the edge of the desert and maintain good relations with Jojo & Pearl. however, they do keep a lower profile, so they're less of a target and all three of them make it to the final battle.
how the games actually go
Lizzie is out first when red-named Pris follows her caving and takes her out. Lizzie's team is very upset about this and calls it a dirty move on Pris' part because there were greens + yellows she could have targeted instead. this leads to a big rivalry between these two alliances, and the extended witch's alliance eventually takes out Netty and Sqaishey as well. Stacy survives and runs to Jojo and Pearl as a last resort
In exchange for Stacy's allegiance, Jojo and Pearl declare war on the extended witch's alliance. this is a little more than the nature wives bargained for but Cleo strong arms Katherine and Shelby into it. the two sides on the server now look like this: {Katherine, Shelby, Cleo, Pris, and Eloise} versus {Jojo, Pearl, Stacy, Gem, Stress, and False}.
the stronger potions + enchants that the extended witch's alliance have means they are able to take out Pearl and Stacy, but the pvpers on the other side do overpower and kill that entire alliance.
While Jojo is weakened by potions, Gem runs in and one-hits her. As she, False, and Stress all catch their breath from the big battle, things start to calm down for a sec. False is the first to realize that they need to turn on each other. While Gem and Stress are distracted, she finishes them off, taking the crown as the first victor of the series.
False herself dies when she falls on dripstone. it's unsure whether this was purposeful or if, in her guilt-ridden state, she genuinely didn't notice the pointed stalagmites.

Shelby’s grandma, apon meeting Katherine for the first time decides "yep, I'm making sure she stays around" though she never needs to actually make sure because these two are way too gay
She also almost immediately shows Katherine pictures of lil' Shelby
Shelby totally almost explodes their entire house while making a potion at least once
Also the idea that Shelby tried to host a reunion party for all the emperors at some point during those ten years makes me smile to no end

Theres a severe lack of Shubble fanfic in the witchcraft tags. Like I see a lot of empires based Shubble fics, which is great because I love esmp
but also. Theres so much the fandom was left with for Shelbys s2 ending AND her witchrcraft ending.
All we know? Shelby went home after the trials, but there was also a 10 year gap between the trials and leaving the Evermoore. We have so much to work with for that gap AND NO ONE TAKES ADVANTAGE OF IT.
Im willing to add more for the overgrown! Not only do they have the spring ball, but there is also the faerie festive! It includes a dance and games, and lots of food being absolutely drenched in honey. It is custom to invite someone from another empire to be able to share this lovely night with all, and it's a night where they throw all grudges away.
And what's a reblog of mine if it isn't gay! Katherine always invites Shrub, the first time out of pity for her, the second time for them to know she's trusted, and the third time because Katherine is head over heels at this point lol.

Grimlands & Crystal Cliffs share a lot of traditions and customs, as well special dishes because the two original founders were brothers! Count Grim & Wizard Grim :) - Later down the line when River Grim meets Mai Moon, the grand wizard of Crystal Cliffs, they fall in love & have twins. Some people in the Grimlands & Cliffs believe Fwhip & Gem are reincarnations of the original Count & Grand Wizard :) (Gandalf was Wizard Grim's apprentice who mastered a spell for immortality and transformation, Gandalf has been the "familiar" for each wizard since until Gem left & he took over)
Rivendell has customs every winter, such as Winter Balls and Winter Mourning periods for those who were lost in prior wars, or prior champions of Aeor. Many of the Aeor champions were Rivendellian royals - Scott breaks tradition of keeping one of the plaques covered in snow (Exor Champions). Scott & Xornoth's names are later added to the plaque & Rivendell keeps the plaques uncovered forever. They have a lot of frozen foods/treats/frosted treats during warmer months and hella fuckin good hot chocolate for hard winters.
Overgrown has a tradition of Spring Balls, and very sweet food. (not much here sorry..)
Undergrove has very spicy food and but Fae, Gnomes, and Vampires are "immune" to the spice, in the sense it doesnt bother them. Full blood elves, such as Rivendellians, do not have this. They are very affected by spices. Shrub has apologized for an attempted assassination on Scott, Scott doesnt even see it as that it was a simple unknown factor.
The Swamp & Ocean empires have very similar traditions and foods together. prior to Jimmy & Fwhip, the two empires had an alliance with the Grimlands and due to Fwhip growing up with Sausage as neighbors their entire childhood, the alliance was ended and the Cod War started. The Ocean Empire has a trident for their ruler that has new things added to it each time theres a new ruler, the CodFather has a very similar tradition but with a necklace and adding a bead to the necklace for each ruler – The Oceanic rulers tend to cover the trident with beads on strings, tightly :)
