“Your music taste is shitty, I can’t believe we’re friends,” Yoongi says, his speech slurred only slightly from whatever concoction the two of you had made by mixing different kinds of alcohol from your parents’ liquor cabinet.
“How dare you insult,” you need to check your phone because at this point you really can’t remember what’s playing, “…teriyaki boyz,” you finish, trying to pin him with a glare but you’ve drank more than you can remember, and your tolerance was never great.
It’s just past 3 am and the two of you find yourself seated on the floor of your bedroom, which was nothing new. Occasionally, after the two of you would have collected enough booze from your parents to enjoy a night of drinking whatever poison you’d have created and burrow yourselves into alcohol-fueled conversation. It was almost ritualistic, to calm the nerves of any adolescent struggling their way through high school. Yoongi was well loved by your mother, so it was acceptable for him to stay over at nights like these, although the activities she wouldn’t approve of. Yoongi’s mother and yours were friends, the best of friends even. They had planned their lives together quite meticulously, move into the same neighborhood and even become next door neighbors. The success of both those things was unreal to you, something out of a very unrealistic television series. Nevertheless, you were still grateful, because through their strong and slightly unhealthy friendship, you met Min Yoongi, your favorite person in your seemingly dreadful life.
It didn’t take you long to figure out how important Yoongi was to you, in fact, you could vividly recall the day you had come to the very decision of his importance in your life. It was during the beginnings of your blooming friendship, a stage where your mothers had to urge both of you to play along while mommies talk every now and then. It was also the day Yoongi had so bravely declared that he hated you, cheeks round and pink with an angry blush, pudgy arms crossed over his small chest. The very moment you had decided to take the challenge, you were nothing if not persuasive.
“You look dumb, what are you doing?” Yoongi breaks you from your thoughts and you can’t help but giggle. His cheeks are tinged with the same pink from that day but more so from alcohol rather than anger. “Just reminiscing,” you sigh.
Yoongi’s face is scrunched into a scowl, you know he appreciates your sentiment, but he has a funny way of showing it and for some reason, that embarrasses you. Cheeks blushing more from sudden embarrassment rather than your intoxicated state, you give your friend a hard shove causing him to stumble a bit. You don’t know if it’s because you’re unaware of your own strength or if he’s more drunk than he lets on. “Don’t be so full of yourself Min Yoongi, I wasn’t thinking about you,” you sniff, it’s a blatant lie, you know it and your dear friend Yoongi knows it too. He’s been there for many of your drunken breakdowns crying over how special he is to you and how thankful you are for his friendship. Even though he doesn’t overtly express his emotions like you do, you notice the little details of appreciation that he lets slip by, thinking you won’t notice, but you do notice every time he tugs on your arm just to slip his fingers through yours or how he always pushes your hair to the side with snide remarks about how your haircut makes you look like the grudge. He never fails to text you at night, reminding you to get enough sleep even though you know he’s up late into the night himself, he’ll always offer to buy you iced coffee from the convenience store on your walk home together and offer to spend the night at your house on nights like these, when he knows something’s not right but respects you enough to be patient with you. Min Yoongi knows how to take care of you, better than you know how to care for yourself even. So, you don’t mind when he’s disgusted with your overt display of emotion towards him, rather you soak it up and relish in it because you know that he cares about you, he reminds you just about every minute of every day.
“Okay seriously, I know you’re drunk but what are you smiling about, it’s creepy,” Yoongi says, as you snatch the bottle from him and down whatever is left.
You cough at the burn in your throat a bit and sigh, eyes heavy and head swimming but you feel so content, like you have everything you need right in your grasp, “Nothing,” you can’t help but let out the smallest of giggles, “Still reminiscing.”
“Gross,” Yoongi says, but you see the hint of a smile ghost his lips, and he shoves at your arm then not so subtly threads his fingers with yours. You sigh, holding onto his hand a little tighter and rest your head on his shoulder. This, this is all you need.

I got an ask a few months ago (I think from @rodejeon pls correct me if I’m wrong!) about what I think of single mom OC bc we always get single dad jk and I said the first thing I thought of was Leslie Mann’s character in How to Be Single. So that was my inspiration for this - successful woman, flirty younger man - but more.
It’s a little different than what I’m used to writing but I hope you don’t get put off by all the fluff and flirting. Blame instagram and vlive JK. But I just srsly wanted to feel happy and that’s what this story makes me feel. Also features all our favorite men (w/ wooga squad cameo) and an adorable little one whom I fell in love with as well 😍 Please watch out!
