so i've been reading the f/sn visual novel for the first time recently and these came to me like visions

The idea that Shirou 100% needs to be a man for his character to work in Fate/stay night doesn't really ring true to me, not just from personal experiences of having been kind of Shirou-like in the past (I know) but also because Shirou is an incarnation of Utena to begin with.

as over-the-top as the movement got in the fight at times, the scene in UBW where shirou cuts off gil's arm and then swings to kill him right as the reality marble fades away? probably one of the rawest things ufotable's ever animated to this day

literally the things the game tells you about shirou in order are

shirou fixes things around his school (fairly normal) (rin thinks he's a bit weird though)

shirou almost died in a disaster and self describes as his body surviving in exchange for his heart dying (not normal, very sad)

shirou was miraculously saved from this disaster and then adopted by a man who called himself a magician (a little weird)

shirou often sleeps out in the shed because he feels more at home in the shed surrounded by random junk he doesn't want to give up on than in his actual house where he grew up (the fixing things was not normal)

shirou's adoptive father somehow owned this giant samurai residence despite having no relatives in japan and not being particularly rich otherwise (suspicious)

shirou's huge expensive house is managed by the local yakuza boss (what?)

shirou tries not to think about the yakuza part too much (ok)

there is so much wrong with this guy. at no point whatsoever do they try to tell you this guy is normal.
