Gcf In Tokyo - Tumblr Posts
When either one, but especially Jungkook, drops into Satoori, it’s melting time.
How Jimin doesn’t react is some off the charts self control.
He’s not even talking to us but you know we say to ourselves, oh he’s doing this huh, he’s going there. iykyk
JK massaging JM and speaking in that soft tone while looking at him😭😭😭😭 I’m melting
It’s so validating to know we weren’t being delulu about their Tokyo trip!
GCF Tokyo you will always be famous!!!
Going back.
If I asked you now, what was the moment that cemented jikook for you? How many of would answer with GCFC Tokyo?
I would.

As a person working in the world of films, movies, and videos, this medium of storytelling holds such a grip on me. Moving images, music, and sound (underestimated storytelling device!) arranged in such a way as to bring one to tears. Moving levers within the viewer through unconcious connotations. Moving someone to tears even on repeat viewings because it touches something inside that person. It speaks to an internal void inside themselves that's been given a voice. Glorious. GCFT does that for me. And sure, Scorsese, it's not CINEMA, but this video Jungkook made is most definitely special. The combination of the song, the editing highlighting the lyrics to hold sway over the images, the colors, the duality of our protagonist through many expressions. He's shown to be a human, goofy, sweet, kind, embarrassed, overjoyed, hungry, and tired.
That's your first clue as to what the director thinks of this boy.
He frames him in such a way as to make us fall in love right along with him. He holds power over us.

Jikook in Japan, back to Tokyo, and traveling on to Saporro, making sure to mention their first trip because it's special to them.
Because it still holds power over them.
The first also means there is a promise of more. It set the tone and became a tradition.
Traditions are special if you put import into such things, and these two really love going back to things that hold meaning and that are rooted in silly little meanings only they know. They love to tease a thing but to have the meaning make sense to no one but them.
Mentioing the first time felt like such a conscious way to adress the importance of this place during this time in their lives. So intentionally clear.

This is our little piece of peace. Our Safe Zone. To be together. To make memories we can cling on to before great unknown swallows us up. A place where we can be free from the many schedules we've overcome in order to journey back to this place where they will always be 'just jimin 💜 and just jungkook'.

LAST CALL: Generally how do you feel about watching reactors to BTS content?
I rewatched them all yesterday. It's so great to see JKs skills and intentions change throughout these videos. Tokyo still carries such emotional impact, though. Perfect song, excellent editing choices and I'm definitely biased toward the subject! 😉

LAST CALL: Generally how do you feel about watching reactors to BTS content?
Them: JK has two motorbike helmets in his house, one for his gf and one for him.
Jikook: wearing motorbike helmets on their show.
Them: Jimin is going to debunk Jikook because he went to shoot with women in a hot-spring in Budapest
Jikook: give us endless footage of them in a hot tub/ jacuzzi playing and having fun with each other.
Them: JK didn’t want to do the show, JM and the company forced him.
JK: I love the show so much, this is so much fun, I want to do this till we’re 50, I want to go back to the first day of our trip, we should reboot this after our service, these were the best trips in my life. I feel so free!
Them: JK wanted to do his enlistment with V, JK is only going to train with Jimin for 5 weeks then he’ll move to another base, JK doesn’t want to be with Jimin! They won’t sleep in the same dorm
JK: We’ll be going together, I hope we sleep across from each other, why wasn’t I in the dream when we’re going together? I’m hurt. Talks about their enlistment in the presence of V who isn’t the least bit bothered!
Them: stop romanticising the show!
JK: I prefer streets to large roads because it’s more romantic. This is romance!!!
Them: Jikook don’t care about Tokyo GCF! OMG, their ship tanked so hard
Jikook: When we came here for our trip seven years ago, we had so much fun! That’s why we came back.
Them: Jikook didn’t see each other in 2023, this proves that their relationship was fake and they were only close because of work.
Jikook: spends time with each other in 2023 both in private and in front of the camera despite knowing they will be enlisting together.
Them: Jikook didn’t sleep in the same hotel! JK went to his husband’s house and left Jimin alone in a hotel.
Jikook: not only slept in the same hotel but the same room.
Them: Jikook don’t know each other’s schedule, they don’t even talk.
Jikook: singing each other’s unreleased songs, being aware of minute details of each other’s daily activities.
Them: JK didn’t even want to shoot the show with him, he kept wishing other members were on the show! How embarrassing.
JK: you are the first and last guest. This show is only for us two. Why did you come? Go and swim with the fish.
Them: it is a Vminkook show not a Jikook show.
Jikook: he insisted to come, you are a guest, guests must also look pretty. Guest! Guest! Guest!
Them: Jikook don’t wear matching outfits on purpose!!!STOP being delusional
JK: let’s buy matching ones…
Them: spend the entire 2023 hoping tkk would enlist together
Jikook: Enlisted together instead
Them: STOP SAYING SNTY IS A JIKOOK SONG😤
Well it might not be, but Jimin sure as hell sang that song every single chance he got while in Sapporo where the air was thick with their upcoming enlistment! This hill is my home now.
JIKOOKERS!!! NEVER BACK DOWN NEVER WHAT🎤🎤🎤
Couldn’t have said it better myself
They are together and want to be seen
Possible delulu time here, but I can't get over how GCF Tokyo keeps coming up in the promotion for Are You Sure?! Once in an article and now in this video... out of the boys mouths themselves... while clips are being shown! GCF has probably gone under the radar for a lot of people, so bringing it up now and tying it to the travel show is.... interesting.
Someone on Tumblr posted a fantastic breakdown of the BTS content levels and how the majority of people are not familiar with or consuming some of the less mainstream content. (I am bummed I couldn't find it, but if you know what I am talking about, share the link!) I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think there are a lot of BTS fans out there that haven't explored enough content to see the GCF videos. There are a lot of people oblivious to the special bond Jikook share with each other. That's why I think it's so interesting to bring up GCF Tokyo.
It's an obvious consequence that referencing GCF Tokyo will cause new people to watch it, people interested in the travel show. I was shocked the first time I watched GCF Tokyo and I am sure others will be too. You can read my post about that experience here. Even people that don't know BTS think that video is about a romantic couple. Now there will be new people watching GCF Tokyo looking at Are You Sure?! through that lens. (or maybe viewers won't even need that lens to make Jikook look like a couple... we shall see)
I just can't help it... bringing up GCF Tokyo feels very loud to me. There is ZERO way they don't know how some people interpret GCF Tokyo. The only reason to bring that up is if they intentionally want to shine a light on that video AND link it to this new travel show. It feels to me that they are continuing navigate having plausible deniability to protect them from the hate while also wanting to been seen by the people willing to see and support their connection.
We see you boys and love you exactly as you are.

And a fun post from @stormblessed95 about GCF Tokyo just because:

GCF in Tokyo and the validity of interpretation
When it comes to GCF Tokyo, I’m not going to make a step by step analysis, but my point is to talk about meaning and interpretation. I will only look at the vlog, although contextual information can be used when it’s necessary if its purpose is to reinforce something already existing in the content in question, but that’s not what I’m doing today.
I’ll start with adding a definition of a vlog
“A vlog is understood as a deliberately constructed presentation of self, a mirror of the author or creator of the vlog.(…) Vlogs may appear to be one–way communication — the vlog creator posts a video and the audience examines it — but interaction develops if audience members utilize the comments section available on most vlogs. While the vlogger may imagine a certain interpretation and response by the audience, the audience in turn can create a response that may nor may not harmonize with the vlogger’s expectations.”.
That presentation of self comes from Erving Goffman’s theory about how people present themselves depending on the social situation they find themselves in. In public and in social interactions we are like actors on a stage, while what we call our true self happens in private, back-stage. A personal vlog works with both of these aspects. Since it’s a personal creation that doesn’t involve a team of people, and because it’s only apparently a one way communication, the author looks to present a version of his true self, but of course it’s idealized. Because of the type of medium, the person cannot change his self-presentation according to social queues, so, as it transpires from the definition, the response comes in form of commentaries, the audience has its own interpretation.
The act of interpretation is something that happens naturally in a way. Let’s take the image, or the moving image (all types of media are included here). We look at all the elements and then our brain automatically translates it. In a more fancier use of words, we can call it semiotics, which is used to make meaning from signs, codes, conventions. Everything has a meaning and we decode it. I’ll choose a very simple example from GCFT and I only have to post two shots that an audience can easily decode.

In order to create meaning, the author and also the audience, looks at the vlog, film, etc. in its entirety. (I’m not talking here about something experimental that focuses only on form, but something conventional, which applies to GCFT). I have read opinions about this vlog, from multiple perspectives. The one which I reject completely, simply because it makes no sense, is the one that focuses on what people understand as Jungkook’s artistry, mainly looking at form, ignoring the content. This vlog showcases his technical skills, of course, but he is also a director, which means his purpose is also to create meaning using those skills. So what is the meaning then, looking at the form and content? It’s a vlog that focuses on two elements, a city and the person which appears in the vlog (Jimin) while the director becomes an observer. He uses diegetic sound at the beginning of the video while for the rest of the material, he uses extra-diegetic sound, that is a song used as background music. Looking at the type of editing (transition of the shots, the fact that there is a certain rhythm, using slow-motion for certain shots emphasized by a certain part in the song) can lead to the conclusion that the background music is used to create meaning as well.
My point is, we cannot separate form and content when we decode this type of vlog, or any other for that matter.
Let’s go back to audience and interpretation now. Looking at all the elements, there is a validity of interpretation if the audience sees the video as one that has as its focus a main subject – Jimin - (due to the majority of shots, the way he was filmed) and uses a certain song to give another layer of meaning to the video. We cannot separate stylistic choices from content if we want to understand the meaning of it. It’s as simple as that.
