Handwritten Letters - Tumblr Posts
I’ve started doing handwritten letters as a way to better connect with my loved ones and fulfill a lifelong wish: to receive handwritten letters in return like in olden times before internet messenger. So far I’m off to a good start! Hoping to write more and get better at decorating and making the letters even more exciting to receive. I’m hoping to get more letters as well!
Yet another letter ✉ to send to a dear friend.
The first of my wax-sealed letters ✉ to a dear friend. It came out better than I hoped.
Here is another handwritten letter ✉ to a dear friend ❤
A short letter ✉ to a friend and her daughter ❤

All I need to do now is seal it!
And there's chaos and the moon, snowdrops and petrichor, pomegranates and impressionism, meadows and cats, wine and literature, as well as grief and tea, the fire and the quiet, blood and handwritten letters..there's sea and languages, dreams and decay, you can follow a rabbit or dance with snowflakes, bathe in the darkness or cry bitter tears, maybe play a violin or yell out the hunger that's gnawing at you soul..carve a statue, take a picture, suffocate in rage, petals and blueberries, and walking barefeet through the woods.. ...
letter reads:
My dearest Lou,
In my dreams, I lead you through the passages of my heart and show you each room, each alcove that you have left in me. See there – that elevation carved by your long fingers in my hair. That window, those hallways tracing the faint line of your freckles. There is not one space in my heart untouched by you.
I should know you through anything, I think. When e.e. cummings wrote “and dawn is of you, a thrilling glory frightening stars” but what I mean is “how could I not know you, when your very being cuts through all that night.” And isn’t that the moonlight? For you could never be anything less.
I leave you with this then, my reverie: the lake that evening, how it stood perfectly still as for a moment the world ceased its incessant noise. And you, your dark hair holding the light, watching the constellations align.
Yours, through all that world,
M
Am I the only one who misses getting handwritten letters & postcards???
I sure feel like I am... :-/
Today's the start of Universal Letter Writing Week! 📝
This week encourages us all to pick a pen and paper and write to someone—family, friends, or yourself. You could even write a letter to a complete stranger. It's all up to what makes you comfortable.
How lovely would it be to receive a hand written letter complete with envelope and stamps? I also love collecting used postal stamps.
There is a degree of vulnerability when you put words by hand on a paper in this era of digital printing & IMs/DMs. It can be hard and you might put more effort in making sure your penmanship is eligible. You might even receive a letter written in cursive—an elegant & soul-revealing format. Apps cannot replicate the intimacy a handwritten letter conveys.
"[Letters] have souls; they can speak; they have in them all that force which expresses the transports of the heart; they have all the fire of our passions, they can raise them as much as if the persons themselves were present; they have all the tenderness and delicacy of speech, and sometimes even a boldness of expression beyond it."

So start sending some joy & love through writing handwritten letters. ✉️
