Inktober 2019: day 25 - ink and water
She emerged unharmed from a deadly house fire, and now when she touches objects they ignite.
This is the same girl from day 21, somewhat earlier in life. By the time she’s employed as a servant she’s learned to control whatever is happening to her, but at first she would leave charred footprints everywhere she went.
I was tabling at London MCM from the 25th to the 27th, so I tried to keep them simple.
I tried doing some automatic drawing with different pens. I don’t really know what I drew, but I like them.

Here I am, frantically posting the rest of Inktober 2020 before Inktober 2021 starts!
I’ve done Inktober every year since 2013, so I was quite upset that I couldn’t finish it in 2020. I kept trying for the whole month, but I only managed a few sketches. If you squint you can see there are two dates on some of these - those are the ones that were at least sketched on the right day, the others were backfilled months later.
I’m going to try again this year, so hold your thumbs for me!

Some automatic drawings from last year. I liked these three as a triptych, although I didn't plan them that way.
They look sort of biological to me?

Inktober 2022 Day 6: Fountain pen (medium nib)
I made a few mistakes on this one, but I had to draw it in the middle of the night after a very long day, so I can let it go.
It's that time of year again! I haven't had time to scan anything so please forgive the limited image editing on my phone camera.

I should know you through anything, I think. When e.e. cummings wrote “and dawn is of you, a thrilling glory frightening stars” but what I mean is “how could I not know you, when your very being cuts through all that night.” And isn’t that the moonlight? For you could never be anything less.
I leave you with this then, my reverie: the lake that evening, how it stood perfectly still as for a moment the world ceased its incessant noise. And you, your dark hair holding the light, watching the constellations align.

Finally got to wash my fountain pens. They spent the whole night submerged in water, and now they're drying. A spa day for my pens.
I've never seen a kakuno in those colours...! Welcome to the hobby! 😅✒️🖋️

Given that I mentioned my Jinhao shark pen, I figured I should post a picture!
Here's the hooded nib! It's supposed to prevent the ink from drying out in the nib so quickly, as well as preventing inky fingers!
The quality control for the brand, particularly the cheaper pens, can be a little iffy, but most of these pens I've had have written really well. Takes international cartridges but comes with a converter for use with bottled ink. It's also really cute!
Okay I need someone that's good with fountain pens, cars, motorcycles, cats, growing sunflowers (or plants in general), and maybe someone who's read a ton of books.
Gimme your knowledge and I'll figure out what to give in return.

The pen in your profile pic is a Dryden Designs Fine Nib - a cartridge pen, not a dip pen. Don't dehydrate yourself by writing with an ink bottle when you need a cartridge.
