Hes All That - Tumblr Posts

So i just finished watching he's all that. I am not a romantic person per se. But at the same time, i do enjoy a good romcom. Yes, i know it's a gross misrepresentation of real life, but hey i can enjoy some fantasy. That being said, i hated the movie. I am not a critic. In fact I'm a person who watches and reads a lot of questionable, cringeworthy, tooth rotting content. But this movie was just not it. I still gave it a chance, went through the entire movie, waiting for a point of redemption. Until the last part with the horse, i swear.

The actors were all pretty ngl, and they're young so I'm sure they have a lot of untapped potential. The plot, despite being an overused one was also alright. Hey, they just tried to recreate a classic, is all. But my oh my, the screenwriting! Everything felt unnatural. People of America, humor me this - is this how y'all talk? Because it seemed so fake and made up that i could not connect with a single scene. I couldn't feel a speck of emotion during the tragic family backstory arc. More than the female lead, i had greater expectations from the main guy and his best friend. It seemed that at least they could have had brought some realistic viewpoints or at least given it a satire arc. But no.

All romcoms have their dose of fakeness and it can't be helped. The beauty lies in knowing how to manage that.

Again, I've got nothing against the actors and I'd love to see their other works. It's just that you start a romcom and at least hope that by the end of the movie you feel some connection to the characters.

I have watched movies like the DUFF numerous times, a movie which acclaimed so many bad reviews. And yet, i couldn't go through "he's all that" without coming to Tumblr to write my first and probably the last movie review.
