Just finished OneShot, and holy shit, that was a good game

This was my first RPG Maker puzzle game (Yume Nikki-like?) I’ve played and beaten, and man it was good. The atmosphere of this game was unreal, I spent most of my time in the game either spooked out of my mind or just in awe at how pretty the world is.

Also Niko is too dang cute, they deserve all the headpats and good things in the world 😭😭😭

SPOILERS AFTER THE BREAK

The game pulling my name from the computer freaked me out so much. I know it’s not unique to OneShot, hell I’ve played other games that have done that, but it’s a sure fire way to make me creeped out no matter what!

The meta fuckery that The Entity pulled was spooky too, the first time it spoke to me through the alerts genuinely gave me a jump. Also I love how clever the game was in hiding information in ways you needed to leave or manipulate the game in order to find.

I ended up choosing the “Return Home” ending. I felt like Niko deserved to go back home, with how much they love their Mama.

I also felt like The World was already deteriorating and dying; it seemed like returning The Sun would’ve been a band-aid fix, and that it’d still die out. The only difference being that Niko would be trapped there too. Still felt awful to choose.
